We are building the Lawson22mk2 through home solutions by metricon and I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on what to look for, essential upgrades etc.. its our first home so we have no idea what we are doing ha ha!! Anyone built the Lawson would love to hear from you ! I think the number one essential upgrade would be the 2700 ceiling heights and 2340 doors and windows. If nothing else just do that! If so how much did M charge to upgrade to glass splashback instead of standard tiles. As part of there luxury promotion i do get a glass window but as i dont have the kitchen facing an external wall i cant have the glass window. Not sure if i can use that promo to have a glass splashback. Is anyone in a similar situation. Thanks Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hi DRT, We got the splashback window, but either side in glass cost us $1,320, for 2 small pieces! I'd ask if you could do it after handover. Re: Building with Metricon 4350Jan 25, 2017 9:58 pm Phoenix37 Hi all... Has anyone had their skirting stepped up between rooms when flooring is different. Eg. Timber floors to carpet in media room? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you The skirting should be level across th3 entire house otherwise it will look uneven. Our sitting room skirting is lower than the rest of the house so our carpenter raised the skirting in the sitting room. @Orph Build thread: viewtopic.php?t=78328 Home Furniture: viewtopic.php?t=80551 Technology Hub: viewtopic.php?t=83663 Landscape Design: viewtopic.php?t=80645 Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Re: Building with Metricon 4351Jan 25, 2017 11:05 pm Orpheus Phoenix37 Hi all... He has just replied with this "M advises that where 2 different floor finishes meet (eg. Square set openings) this will result in a step to skirting". I have not seen one build blog not display home Where this happens. It looks bloody terrible. In the main hallway as well - I wish I could upload a pic! Re: Building with Metricon 4352Jan 25, 2017 11:28 pm I am building a modified metro 32 with Metricon and about to receive handover. Our gas cooktop touches the tiled splash back. It's installed incorrectly. how do you deal with Metricon in resolving these issues ? As usual Site supervisor says it is correct and it's because of the cooktop being wide. Lots of other issues such as chipped tiles, now these tiles are vein matched, not sure what Metricon would do. Would appreciate your comments/suggestions on how to manage issues at handover. Its our first home and the experience with Metricon has been below average. Lack of supervision is the reason for that. I hope they fix all the issues. The tilers shouldn't be installing chipped tiles in the first place. For the tiling in my house I only saw 1 small chipped tile and it was in the bathroom below the mirror which is not a big deal for me. @Orph Build thread: viewtopic.php?t=78328 Home Furniture: viewtopic.php?t=80551 Technology Hub: viewtopic.php?t=83663 Landscape Design: viewtopic.php?t=80645 Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Re: Building with Metricon 4354Jan 26, 2017 8:11 am hatipa I am building a modified metro 32 with Metricon and about to receive handover. Our gas cooktop touches the tiled splash back. Ps, your home is beautiful! We have a gap all the way around our cooktop - I also think this isn't normal - the caesarstone has been cut too wide. We are being firm on this one too - really not happy with the finishings in our house. I hope you guys get a resolution soon. Oh and the chipped tiles should be replaced - just like chipped bricks!
