Hi All, unless there's already a thread here I've missed, I wanted to start a central thread for everyone building with Metricon. Feel free to come and share your journey :)

Just visited your blog - HG seems to be such a nice peaceful place, would be nice to be surrounded by all new houses!

I'd seen threads for other builders I had wondered if there was already a thread for Metricon and I just couldn't find it!

We're building a Barkly 29 from the Home Solutions range in North Brisbane :)

Thanks Monalisa, yes we love it, our precinct is one of about 7 that makes up the whole estate and they've agreed to retain 60% of the bushland so we get that country feel but we're only about 10mins to shops and many schools

Hi jazz_d,
Thanks, there is not much difference between Glendale and Sovereign especially upper floor.

So will be watching your thread closely :)

Hi monalisa,
Yes its a nice house given its 90% Glendale :)
We made few changes (similar to your house) adding another cook top in butler pantry and making guest room on the ground floor etc
waiting for preliminary contract to be finalized after that i will share the plans.

Hi Skami - I take it you are building in Melbourne? I don't think we have this house in Sydney.

Are you converting the powder room to a bathroom? Looking at the plan, I was wondering if it is an easy adjustment?

Nice to have a theater as well - with just 2 extra squares.

Love how the butler's pantry is so big, and away from the main kitchen.

Good idea re cooktop in the butler's :) I was almost ready to take it out - but glad we left it in!

I wanted to add....we just found out from Sheilzy's Hudson build, standard tiling for the kitchen splashback does not cover the sides of the rangehood... so make sure you add this in! We are checking with our CSC so we aren't penalised!

Oh! But yours is a new estate - surely they would have planned for this already?

Edit: Seriously :-s they should have thought of this earlier!

No - none of us knew, and we're in Wildfire ... We're wondering if we should still build now ...

Sorry Jazz! I really hope yours isn't one of them, and is further away from the train.

Article seems to suggest it could be decade or two down the track? But I guess home is built to have a base somewhere. Do you have another home where you reside?
