SS said they don't advise to do this because tiles can chip. (Prestart lady didn't say this to us though). But they shouldn't come already chipped right? Because I'm really not happy with it to be honest. Hi MP, Sorry to repost your awful tiling dilemma post but I'm sure it's all been fixed as you're moving in Wanted to ask if you know why rectangular blocks (tiled) are placed against wall and cabinet around bath but the the entry to bath is lower? We just visited our block and noticed this but we are not sure we are happy with how it looks - unless there's a functional reason for this? Do you have any idea? Much appreciated. Our bath below with same rectangular blocks on either end of bath... The front lip is lower as any escaping water will still be contained by the tiled floor and the drain is nearby. If they tiled that section, water would flow over it onto the floor still, while making the ledge that little bit higher to get over, so there's no practical purpose for that section to be done the same as the other areas. c) Cleaning - you don't want those gaps filling with dust, pooled water and grime - it'll be easier to keep clean this way. If the bath was 'stand alone' it wouldn't have these blocks as water would flow over onto the floor regardless, likewise if the bath the same length as the room as the walls would come right up to the edge and still trap the water correctly. Hope that helps! Dave First home builder - Brightwood Estate, Baldivis. Celebration Homes. We have PCI 28/9 so I'd like to know what is standard and what is not, so I know what needs repairing etc. thank again! I asked the very same question to my SS because it doesn't look like that for all builders and I think the lower tile looks terrible! I think it's a space issue as well. My sister built with hgwa and she has more room around her bath and it doesn't look like that. But on the flipside I've seen other builders not do it. I put it down to one of those things that I will have to remember if we ever build again! Re: K & L's HGWA Build Baldivis 851Sep 10, 2016 8:11 pm I checked ours today MrsMaccaPacca - we have a similar amount of space around our bath and the tiling all sits under the lip of the bath (if that makes sense) rather than flush with the top of it. Very strange how some builders do one thing and some do another. Just makes it all that much harder to remember every single thing when designing your home! Re: K & L's HGWA Build Baldivis 853Sep 12, 2016 10:47 am If Homegroup actually had a display home just with their so called "standard" inclusions- nobody would bother signing up or at least it would have given us the opportunity to pick up on the things the pre start people couldn't even pick up on. They are the most misleading building company I've ever seen- I don't know how they can get away with it. Every other builders display homes resemble a "standard" build. Home group build $400-500000 displays and then when you sign up- you get inclusions that not even homebuyers centre includes! Rant over- sorry! It's so frustrating isn't it! Mon Thats horrible you have had a bad experience. We have the best build and as far as im concerned their standard as been impeccable with out build. They have been onto everything i thought i would have an issue with before ive even bought it up with them. We arent in it yet so maybe once we are in we may find issues but so far its been great Re: K & L's HGWA Build Baldivis 855Sep 12, 2016 11:17 am We are the same as Jasminelee. Although there have been a few issues, they have been dealt with very quickly. We were fortunate that we wanted to copy the display, so I spent a lot of time with our plans and comparing them with the display. We went up to copy h before we were happy most reviews our sales guy ever did he recons lol Re: K & L's HGWA Build Baldivis 857Sep 12, 2016 11:26 am We may have a very well built house, but I 100% believe that their inclusions are misleading and what you pay for upgrades is ridiculous. They do not explain things to first home builders very well. We went with a package and then deleted flooring and pavers ect and that is where we have been ripped off. If we had of just started with the base house price and then added what we wanted then we would have been better off. For someone who stays within their 'package' I think they won't be.
