Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First build in SA Woodville West - with Fairmont Homes 21May 19, 2015 2:23 pm You are about 3 weeks ahead of me now! Let us know how long you have to wait for your Direct Interiors appointment. I have heard that they can have a waiting period of about 4 weeks. I didn't really use the visualiser much - it does throw different colours. We chose our external colours through the sekisui process and they haven't changed. They had brick samples in the showroom and we chose from that. I don't think they talked about mortar much though. I did have to laugh when we got all the brochures after signing up. There were about three brochures which showed Colourbond colours. I held them up against one another and they were ALL different! Doesn't make it easy. We are going for a colonial/country look with a bay window, rendered quoins etc. Our bricks will by Austral Almond and Classic Cream render and garage door. I still haven't thought much about mortar. Re: First build in SA Woodville West - with Fairmont Homes 22May 19, 2015 5:12 pm Colours are so hard, we even when on the weekend to beaumont tiles and I can see interior colours are going to be hard!! We signed 2 weeks ago so hopefully we get final plan soon. I'll update aswell on when we get our appts too, have you had your soil tests done as yet @bobbin? And how long did your soil report take to come back @tomjoos? Re: First build in SA Woodville West - with Fairmont Homes 23May 20, 2015 8:53 am @heather . Date on soil report is 15 April. So it took 2 weeks @Bobin Direct interiors and supreme kitchen appointments are on 23rd June. Clipsal selection on 9th June. We got the consent from neighbouring block yesterday. Signed up the final docs and sent. Do you have any idea about how long it may take for council approval ? Re: First build in SA Woodville West - with Fairmont Homes 24May 20, 2015 9:04 am Thats seems pretty quick @tomjoos can't wait.to hear about your next update Re: First build in SA Woodville West - with Fairmont Homes 25Oct 06, 2015 10:49 pm Its been a long time since my last update. We were overseas for 6 weeks and the footing was done by the time we returned . Roofing completed last week and the brickworks started today. We had our builders interview before going on holidays. Variations was nearly 18k. An unexpected item was the electrical variations. Connection from the nearest stobie pole has to cross neighbours driveway and it cost additional 3000. Also we opted to have double 60cm ovens instead of single 90cm oven. We didn't select the one from builders range , we agreed to supply the ovens to Fairmont when they are ready to install. We put extra power points in almost every room and ended up in having 3-phase instead of single phase. Total variation was nearly 4k for the electrical work. We did upgrades for nearly 13k in supreme kitchens , direct interiors and Clipsal. *Tiling to the ceiling in bath and en-suite *Upgrades to front door and all door handles. Upgraded the floor tiles for bath and en-suite. *Upgrade to kitchen sink and tap. *Additional cupboards , drawers and rails in robes. *Upgraded the kitchen cabinet material to polyglaze *Upgraded benchtops for ensuite and bath vanity to stone. *Added motion senor , additional downlights, double power points , upgraded the switch boards to slimline etc. *Upgrade to 3 coat paint ( we didn't like the colours in standard range, upgrade was to titanium white) We had to pay extra 2600 to the footing contractor for removing the excess soil. Also paid 300 for removing the vegetation prior to site work. We were contacted by electrical works contractor for the telephone and network ports variation which is not covered in builders interview. Telephone/Network ports + cabling , Video intercom , TV Antenna , and upgrade of the power points in main bedroom (to power points with usb port) was nearly 3k. We visit the site everyday as its walkable distance to where we live. Its really exciting to see the build progressing. I will share some photos tomorrow. Signed up - 29th March 2015 Builders Interview - 7th July 2015 Council Approval - 17th July 2015 Footing - 12th August 2014 Wall and roof Frame - 17th September 2015 Roof Tiling - 2nd October 2015 Brickwork - Started Today - 6th October Re: First build in SA Woodville West - with Fairmont Homes 26Oct 07, 2015 12:22 pm Awesome to see things are flying along, can't wait for pics, we upgraded quite a bit of electrical too saves doing it later, my budget couldn't handle stone but maybe later, It All sounds lovely! Re: First build in SA Woodville West - with Fairmont Homes 28Oct 07, 2015 6:56 pm Ah yes I think I heard them mention this but as I didn't go stone in kitchen I couldn't redeem that offer. We are due to do our final selections in the next 8 weeks I reckon, just waiting for our land to settle and our home to sell :/ Re: First build in SA Woodville West - with Fairmont Homes 29Feb 13, 2016 9:47 pm Hey tomjoos, how is all going? We had our site works start and I was wondering with your soil removal do you remember how many tonne you had? Re: First build in SA Woodville West - with Fairmont Homes 30Feb 14, 2016 8:51 am Hi heather , Tiling and painting is progressing for us now. Expecting to have the walk through on 4th March. Arranging other things like flooring and driveway. We had 20 tonnes of soil with vegetation and nearly 80 tonnes of soil without vegetation. Removal charge was 45 for soil with vegetation and 19 for without vegetation. Re: First build in SA Woodville West - with Fairmont Homes 31Feb 14, 2016 9:03 am Going good by the sound of it, it so busy during the build I didn't think we would need to do much but I feel stressed already thinking about things as they happen to make sure we avoid any difficulties with access etc! This soil removal is so expensive how long after the footings were done did you have it removed? Sorry hope you don't mind the questions Re: First build in SA Woodville West - with Fairmont Homes 32Feb 14, 2016 9:24 am My block was small (387) with 214 built area. So I had to get the soil removed in 2 days for them to be able to pour the slab. They stopped the work for two days waiting for The same. Removal was done by my footing contractor for us . I took a quote from a removal company but the price was similar to what was quoted by the contractor so I engaged him only.I wasn't really happy about the soil removal stuff as we were told by the sales consultant that there will be only 20-25 tonnes and will cost somewhere around $500 only. But the actual cost was 5 times more. There is a website need dirt.com.au which will help you to connect with people who need soil. It may help to get some of it removed for free. I couldn't explore that option as I was at overseas at the time. Ended up paying 2600 excluding Gst. Re: First build in SA Woodville West - with Fairmont Homes 33Feb 15, 2016 3:14 pm Wow you were pressed for time, thanks for the info I looked up that site, doesn't look like they need soil at the moment, so on with the removal quotes we go lol hopefully no more things to worry about now just on with the build Hi I live in a 100yr old semi and my neighbour added an additional floor last yr and our architect has advised that we can knock down our semi and build a free-standing… 0 37693 Hi All It has been a few weeks since my last update.
