I ended up getting my rugs from a rug shop . It's so funny I look around and I have so many rugs lol . I have been nagging my partner to buy me my hallway rug. Got it in the weekend . (Still got to pick it up ) but now I'm wondering if I would rather look at my tiles lol . Post a pick when I get it . The chip waterfall edge devastated me for a whole weekend .toke me a couple of days to post a pick . I don't really look at it now .but it will get fixed . you will propley move in and not even worry about those missing doors Re: Metricon - Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 82Apr 14, 2015 10:09 pm Tribe - I don't know how you do it! Ours is only a family of 4 and I feel busy all the time, but I'm sure I don't know what busy is when compared to your tribe! Although, our youngest is nearly 5months old, and thus was born during our build time, making things very busy for a while. And I can't belive the size of the house I now need to vacuum, but thanks to you I have a bit of perspective. My 4 bedroom house is tiny by comparison! Re: Metricon - Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 83Apr 14, 2015 10:18 pm Yes it's ridiculous ... Doors missing and towel rails in the toilet (or other such awkward spots). We had put in quite a few extra doors: pantry, ensuite, WIR and double cavity glass sliders at end of hall. Besides loosing privacy, trying to keep 'smells' and steam out of your clothes etc, doors also help manage heating/cooling issues. They kinda seem essential to me. Easy to not notice they are missing when they are though Re: Metricon - Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 84Apr 15, 2015 1:07 am Melsie68 The mums that take there kids shopping are the real mums lol . I'm with you on the rugs I'll go to one of the 590 rug shops up here, if I brought the pig rug from ikea I would never hear the end of it. I had a quick look at your thread (it's huge it took me ages to find the photos hahahaah) your hallway is amazing it's so long, look forward to seeing the pic. The advantage with your hall runner is you can roll it out in winter when the tiles are cold and pack it away for summer when it's melting hot. Thank god you can get the chip fixed. I'm kind of hoping that's the case with the ensuite door but the pantry door has me puzzled, the second the walk in pantry door is open my 17 month old races in the pantry and rearranges the bottom two shelves (looks like a bomb site when he is done) I kind of didn't want the open pantry in the new house to look like a bomb site from knee height down, kiddy gate would drive me nuts opening it all the time so I think the door might be the only option. Re: Metricon - Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 85Apr 15, 2015 1:48 am I never thought about going two story . I can imagine my kids going up and down those stairs lol . I have a issue of them thinking the hallway is a race track lol . Hmm your pantry door maybe a problem . I recon you should ask your builder if they can do something . Crying seems to work hehe . My little one has always been into everything and started walking at 10 mon . At 9 mon she got in my pantry at our old house and broke a sause bottle slipped and ended up with 11 stitches on the side of her face . I think that builders should include doors on them . But I'm sure you will work something out . Omg shopping with 5 kids . I can't even shop with one lol . But she makes up for the other 5 . School holidays here in Perth haven't gone for a big shop for 4 weeks lol. I really love your house too bedrooms are a really good size Re: Metricon - Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 86Apr 16, 2015 11:03 pm Charlston01 Tribe - I don't know how you do it! I don't either some days charlston I have to admit I like busy, it keeps me on my toes and there is always something to do or someone to see to. There are days I want to hide in the pantry so I can talk to my CSC about what ever she is trying to explain without having the little ones hounding me. She called me today when I had just finished having a skipping competition with the big 2 kids and could barely speak to her I was so out of breath Ohhhh you have a November babe too our youngest is 5 months as well , it would of been hard work having your build progressing with a newborn. Your house is a great size and can easily fit more kiddies if your still wanting to add to your tribe, big back yard you have too. Re: Metricon - Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 87Apr 17, 2015 12:00 am TomCat Yes it's ridiculous ... Doors missing and towel rails in the toilet (or other such awkward spots). Besides loosing privacy, trying to keep 'smells' and steam out of your clothes etc, doors also help manage heating/cooling issues. They kinda seem essential to me. Easy to not notice they are missing when they are though It seems like a lot of houses are designed with only aesthetics in mind but no practical thought has gone into how people actually live in them. No doors on ensuites are a pain in the bum when small children are involved as all they want to do is stand at the shower screen with there faces pressed against the glass (well my tribe do) wir robes opposite open ensuites with fixed windows can create mould and I agree about the "smells" thing. I have a school mum friend who's husband is a plasterer, I have spoken to him and he said its a easy fix to add a pantry door phew. I might get him to look at adding a cavity slider to the ensuite also. I completely missed the fact they are not in our build Re: Metricon - Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 88Apr 17, 2015 12:27 am Melsie68 I never thought about going two story . School holidays here in Perth haven't gone for a big shop for 4 weeks lol. I really love your house too bedrooms are a really good size We didn't consider it either, but once we started the land hunt and found it impossible to get a wide enough lot to fit a decent 6 bedroom house on it we had to start thinking about going up. Did you have to change the standard plan heaps or was your 7 bedroom house a preset design? We literally couldn't find a 6 bedroom 2 story house plan with the master upstairs that suited our needs (the ones I did find where 50m2 houses and wanted our first child as down payment) Would of loved to have gone acreage but the budget said no, your block is huge so much room for them to play outside. Your hallway is awesome, best race track ever. Mmmm I can't say I'm thrilled about the staircase, they will sound like a pack of rhinos going up and down the stairs. on to the pantry door and spoke to a school mums husband who is a plasterer. What is it with them walking so soon???? 3 of mine have done that, biggest pain in the butt. Oh god damn she cut her face that badly that's shocking, it seals the deal for me we are getting a door! It would of been awful for you having to go through that. Ohhhhh yeah it's school holidays here to, it was fine yesterday doing groceries with all 5, I didn't lose anyone and I got everything on the list, Happy days. Re: Metricon - Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 89Apr 17, 2015 12:54 am We worked around a plan . Originally we had 2 alfrescos one were the living room is and one were the games room is . So we toke both out made the living area bigger and the games room bigger . And just moved the 3 bathroom out and put two more bedrooms in . The hallway got wider my partner used to be a removal ist I I think he thought we were going to move furniture in and out of the house on a daily thing lol . So many people told me hallways a a waste .but it works for us being so long a skinny one would look weird . But then my little hallway to my bedroom got wider and I lost a lot of space in my wir . Kinda never thought about the width of the house . The theatre also had to go back too because of this . Our block is 935 Sqm . We were looking at a 2000sqm block that was going for $325 . But they didn't won't to wait . I go past there all the time looking at the house that is built on there lol . My house would of looked better lol . Was pretty scary when she cut her face red sauce was everywhere .one of my other girls thought it was all blood . Bless her . With so many kids our lives are pretty full on if it's not one kid it's another . ( and my partner wonts one more ) I don't think I can do it . I hate shopping as a family I kinda get the feeling people are looking at me thinking I'm crazy . My sister has 5 one day she was out with just one . Someone asked her if that was the only child she had .she said yes couldn't be bothered getting into the whole do you not have any TV thing lol I was thinking of you yesterday shopping lol So good about your doors being able to be fitted later .yay Re: Metricon - Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 90Apr 17, 2015 12:57 am We also made toilets wider but didn't even think of making one of them a powder room . Would of liked my second bathroom bigger too . Oh next time ( not ) the next place I'll be moving into is a old persons home . Lol Re: Metricon - Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 91Apr 17, 2015 7:25 pm Yay a new thread Tribe! Hope you are still on track for site start in the next week or so? Love love love your colour choices especially the Oak timber floor. I can't wait to follow your build. Exciting times ahead Re: Metricon - Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 92Apr 17, 2015 10:43 pm The goal is for next week but we are just waiting on the final stage of the audit and we are done . Im excited but nervous as hell about the colours, I hope they come together nicely. So good to see your home at lock up its so pretty . Re: Metricon - Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 93Apr 17, 2015 10:47 pm We received a really kind email from our csc yesterday, our ss had been to our lot and did a check over he also added a sign, he took a pic and sent it to our csc who attached it to an email saying ta da look what you have . Needless to say I was thrilled we got a sign, who knew one bit of plastic could be so exciting . Metricon - Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 95Apr 17, 2015 10:54 pm We also got another gift on our lot, can't say I'm thrilled with this one though, a giant concrete (chunk, ball, lump, not sure what to call it) it's right in the middle of our lot, the developer is removing it once our site start date is set but gee some people are a bit to generous.
