It is very bad workmanship on your house. I was always worried about my frame stage so I have decided to get a independent inspector for the frame stage. I already have quotes from darbecca and new home inspections. My slab turned out pretty good. Few issues but it will dealt with in the frame and brick stage. I would put photos on here but can't figure out how and how do you do the signature thing? Re: Building Porter Davis "Livingstone" in SE Melbourne 42Feb 17, 2016 7:43 am Lawrence Thanks pixiGT. Hey how you guys going with the build? Kudos to PD for really working to get our trust & confidence back. Felt like we got a crash course in framing! Lockup stage is now complete!!!! We're buzzing along. Outstanding issues have been dealt with or will be dealt with today but I'm happy with the explanations etc. Plaster starts going in tomorrow & will be done all thru the weekend. Cabinetry to start next Friday. Dixon stage complete by the 20somethingth of the month? He says we're on track for late May at this stage... It's my 30th on the 24th of May so I joked that he needs to have it done by then Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Someone on the main thread asked if I would recommend Porter Davis. My reply... "We've had ups and downs but most importantly whenever we've had issues we've been able to escalate it and get a quick fix and our confidence renewed. There's always going to be kinks with a volume builder but we've been really impressed with how far they've gone to win us back. Based on our overall experience I would highly recommend them." As cliche as the "respect the dream" is we really did feel like our concerns were respected and addressed right from when we went up the food chain so to speak, and in the site meeting, and I am seriously impressed at how quickly they diffused what was a really rocky situation we hit. The communication has improved remarkably as well which we have greatly appreciated. And the speed at which they're building is crazy. Fortunately we still managed to sell, not for as much as we were hoping for but still for a realistic amount. Means I won't be able to go crazy decorating the new house for a while but it's just a relief to have the certainty that yes it's sold! (even though we're still wondering what might have happened if she didn't mess things up). And we got a 90 day settlement which should hopefully tie up with the build. Glad it's all sorted out for you guys. It's been a while since I was on here. My build was going ahead of schedule until it came to a halt. Nothing for 12 days. Whilst the build was going well, no issues with frame inspection, no issues with pre plaster inspection and I thought I was living a dream with everyone doing their job properly. Unfortunately I have had theft from my construction site 3 times approx value of $6500 plus. Things that I did not expect to be stolen. It has been frustrating and I wish I could catch them. Starting to see some action from today with the plaster finally going in. Lawrence Re: Building Porter Davis "Livingstone" in SE Melbourne 50Jun 07, 2016 8:33 pm How is your build going, we have just purchased land in mayfield just around the corner from you and just finalising our building contracts ect.. Enjoying reading your journey and seeing the photo updates.. Its really disappointing that someone has stolen things out of your house and $6500!! Some people are horrible. Fortunately the theft wasn't at our place! I've realised I haven't updated this thread, have mainly just posted in the PD one. Welcome to Mayfield. Our handover is on Thursday!!! And we should really have been in mid-May were it not for the carryon with PD over the benches. Can't wait to be in finally! And yes we did have to get a valuation done, I think most if not all banks will need one if you're getting a loan. (saves me scrolling through the feed) I havnt really had a drive around just yet only of our major block. Oh okay that is starting to make more sense. Would dont have to tell me your exact costs but were you in a similar bracket to us with your final valuations? We are building with Simonds Re: Building Porter Davis "Livingstone" in SE Melbourne 57Jun 08, 2016 2:48 pm We're in Adrian - I think it goes Dartnell, O'Meara, Sundew, Adrian? Google maps needs to get with the times! Our final cost was about the same and the valuations all came in OK. I can't remember the exact numbers, my husband works for the bank so has been shepherding everything (but obviously he has no control over actual variations). Volume, most defiantly, but spec would vary. If youre doing a knock down, there additional costs associated with that that will eat into your budget… 1 10306 |
