Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building a Plantation Soho 21May 13, 2015 11:44 am Just an update... we still haven't received our ACC yet. Our lender is now saying it will be mid this week... If I haven't heard by tomorrow, I'll be emailing her again. Frustrating when the builders are ready to go and we're just waiting on a letter. How long did everyone else's ACC take? 30/01/15 - Land Settlement 07/04/15 - Contract & colour selections 05/05/15- Council approval 28/05/15 - Site start Build Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76068 Re: Building a Plantation Soho 22May 13, 2015 11:48 am Mine took 3 days I think, but then Plantation weren't happy with it because it didn't specify the amount that was approved, I had to argue with them about using my finance approval docs I'd already sent them as proof that I had a loan for the right amount. Paperwork is definitely the most frustrating thing, especially this bit - you're ready to go and tied up in red tape! I've already provided plantation with our full approval letters. After our admin emailed through the council approval last Tuesday, our lender didn't look at our file until Friday... We caught her out being untruthful to us and the PH correspondent again. The progress has been quick so far - site start was May 28 followed by the retaining wall and slab prep last week. We haven't received our next two week plan but I'd assume the frames will be starting around Friday. We've been blessed with great weather. http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/image.jpg1.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/image.jpg3.jpg We're very happy with the retaining wall they put in. http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/image.jpg2.jpg Now to wait for the Slab bill which we aren't looking forward to since we'll have to start paying another mortgage but at least we'll be closer to receving the FHOG. We've got plumbing, electrical and aircon roughins and finishing of the roof this week followed by insulation and plaster boards next week. Bricks are being delivered on the 14th and starting on the 15th. All happening! We're expecting handover mid October. In the meantime, we're moving out of iur rental this weekend and in with family until completion so that will be interesting! 30/01/15 - Land Settlement 07/04/15 - Contract & colour selections 05/05/15- Council approval 28/05/15 - Site start Build Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76068 Re: Plantation Homes QLD - Soho - FRAMES! 34Jul 02, 2015 8:07 am Wow so quick! View my build thread here: viewtopic.php?t=76776 Re: Plantation Homes QLD - Soho 35Jul 14, 2015 10:29 am Just posting our next update... progress has been quick... still no major issues as yet with the builders. All issues so far have been rectified. And I'm pleased to say we haven't been affected by this so called 'brick shortage' in SE QLD for anyone wondering. Our bricks are starting today and our plaster board has been delivered to also start this week. We haven't been able to get a rough handover date yet but have been told early October... fingers crossed. We are doing the flooring, rendering and driveway via external people so we are hoping that will knock off a couple of weeks. We've also purchased all of our fans, down lights, kitchen & stair pendants, external lights and stair tread lights from Lighting Illusions - we got three quotes and they were the cheapest with a EOFY sale on at the moment. Next plan is to lock in our bamboo flooring that we are ordering and self installing from UB Trading - we are heading to the warehouse this weekend to check out the quality and get samples...Anyone used them? We've heard mixed reviews. http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/HouseFront.jpg View from our Master Bedroom http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/MR%20Window.jpg Hallway view http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Hallway%20Wind2.jpg Main Bath http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Bathroom%20Window.jpg Study http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Study%20Windows.jpg Largest Guest Room http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Guest%20Room%20Windows.jpg Alfresco http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee439/Emma-Leigh_Begg/Alfresco%20Doors.jpg Kitchen and Dining. What colour bricks did you go with? Have you thought about window furnishings for those tall narrow windows in your front rooms yet? Hi Illaeria. Thanks! Initially we wanted to get plantation shutters for most of our windows but we can't really justify the price when white venetians from spotlight look quiet similar. So we're just going to go with spotlight white venetians for our windows. We haven't yet measured our windows (our plans are in storage...I could probably email our admin but measuring just seems exciting haha). Once the plaster board is up we'll measure all the windows and then I'll wait for a sale at spotlight which they seem to have quiet regularly? For the mean time we aren't going to put blinds on the laundry, alfresco doors, ensuite window (we've got a high set ensuite window), stair window or hallway (also high set). So in total we just need 9 blinds for the time being. I'm not sure if they'll have the exact sizes for the tall skinny windows in the study and front bedroom but I've read about people who have 'cut' theirs to size.. I'll have to investigate this. Blinds are definitely next on the agenda after we get flooring sorted next month. Definitely not wanting to move in without having blinds to install! 30/01/15 - Land Settlement 07/04/15 - Contract & colour selections 05/05/15- Council approval 28/05/15 - Site start Build Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76068 Re: Plantation Homes QLD - Soho - WINDOWS, ROUGHINS, BRICK P 39Jul 14, 2015 6:34 pm Ilaeria Great progress! In the end we just got curtains for now and I'll decide later if I'm not happy with them Window furnishings was not something we considered when we were choosing the facade and they turned in to way more of a hassle than I was expecting! We managed to pick up all our curtains and blinds on special at either Spotlight or Curtain Wonderland. All our windows were "standard" sizes, hopefully yours are too.
