Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane- Lock up stage-PICS! 23May 15, 2015 7:23 am Nothing is happening on our site for the past 3 weeks now. Hubby tried to talk to everyone at Simonds with no answer as to what is happening. Our SS has not called us despite numerous phone calls and voice messages. It is frustrating and we have now given up, we will just keep quiet until we hear from them. Nothing we can do we have tried to talk to everyone from the Operations Manager, Administrator and SS's Manager and they keep referring us back to SS who has not called back. Building started in November 2014 and its has been too long now. Most builds in our hood, their construction started well after ours and they have all moved in. It has got to a point where everyone in our build area is asking us what is going on with your build as we know most of our neighbours. Arghh! Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane- Lock up stage-PICS! 24May 15, 2015 10:07 am That's so disappointing to hear RU2014...I wonder why your SS is not responding well all of a sudden, when he has been so helpful during your entire build so far...What did your CRC say? Is he washing off his hands as well? Is he washing off his hands as well? Yes CRS has sort leaving all the questions to our SS. It is so disheartening Anyway we will hope for the best outcome soon Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane- Lock up stage-PICS! 27May 15, 2015 12:14 pm Does your mysimonds website give you any tentative dates for PCI/QA? Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane- Lock up stage-PICS! 29May 15, 2015 1:07 pm That's confusing. Have you had problems that you've asked them to rectify? Maybe somethoing in dispute? We had a Bentleigh built across the road that took 10 months when other local Simonds 2 stories were done in 5 months or less. The Bentleigh owner seemed over-fussy - When I met her she rattled off a long list of complaints, pointing them out as she walked me through. I could honestly not see any faults (neither could my fussy husband). I know that is not your problem. Just curious whether you have any issues they need to fix and if they're avoiding it. What's left? I thought you were close to hand over and they'd be wanting to finish up So disappointing Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane- Lock up stage-PICS! 30May 15, 2015 1:20 pm TomCat That's confusing. The last 3 weeks was all good when SS came to open the door for our electrician to install the ducted heating and cooling as we are doing this not with Simonds and since then he has been quiet. There is small things that we noticed and did not even raise them up that we know they need to revisit like the caesarstone benchtop in bathroom is chipped which SS told husband he needs that replaced without us asking and sink in the butlers pantry needs a tap hole drilled then plumber to install the tap post and also our shower head in ensuite has not been installed yet as they are waiting for the tiler to come back to replace a wall tile. So maybe this is all thats holding us back. Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane- Lock up stage-PICS! 33May 15, 2015 3:55 pm Great news... Congrats RU2014... You might be over the moon now... Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane- Lock up stage-PICS! 39May 21, 2015 4:58 am Hi RU, hope ur PCI went well yesterday and no major issues. once again congrats. We all need to come over for a grand opening and house warming . Also love your brass looking benchtop pendants, where did u get them from and how much if u don't mind asking. Also b4 I forget remember to tell simonds to sent your bank if you are using mortgage a form 21 I think it's called so that the bank can pay up the final settlement quickly because that might delay handover. The form is to confirm that the building is save and ready to be lived in. Not sure if that is require in Brisbane too. Just giving u heads up. Best of luck. Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane- Lock up stage-PICS! 40May 21, 2015 9:49 am Hi Dran15 yes you all need come over for house warming Hahaha, our PCI went okay, First of all our Site Supervisor is no longer working for Simonds anymore as there were a lot of complaints about him so his Site Manager took over our house and he came on the day. We had met him before in the early stages of our build. We hired an independent Inspector and he did not pick any major issues. Just a couple of attention to detail issues. Will start with external issues.
External downpipes bottom part needs to be under the soil as they left them exposed, Our white mortar was not washed properly now its left whitewash marks to bricks more on the rear side of the garage which cannot be fixed because trying to wash it off may apparently damage the bricks more!, Internal Issues with painting everywhere around the whole house, Bathroom and ensuite benchtops and handbasins need to be replaced completely as they are chipped(caesarstone), cracked ( basin). Unfortunately caesarstone will take two weeks to get back from wherever they order it from (approx) so that is going to delay handover date more!, but we would rather wait and get it done before we get the keys! Some grout missing in my daughters ensuite shower wall tiles and a couple of loose shower nobs and toilet holders, Not so good sealing was done to where all bathroom wall tiles meet the ceiling as we took off cornices. Now we are thinking maybe its better to have the cornices back if it is not done properly!, About 4 internal doors not closing properly. Thats pretty much it, We also bought PCI checklist from http://www.anewhouse.com.au done by Ashworth (his homeone forum name is bashworth) Thanks to him as it helped us a lot on what to look for in every room. I recommend it to everyone and it only cost $4! Benchtop pendants- Thanks Dran15 i really love them. I bought them for $159 each, they were 20% off from Andrews lighting and i also saw them on http://www.golights.com.au, all the lighting retailers are supplied these by Oriel lighting Company. Form 21- thanks i will ask Simonds on the final inspection so we can fasttrack things. Joe, it depends on your certifier but we are noticing the ones we deal with are really cracking down. So i would recommend you follow your approved landscaping plans to… 4 11039 Hi Simeon, Thank you for laying it down for us. Makes sense. Appreciate it very much. Have a nice day.
