Browse Forums Building A New House Re: KDRB Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney) 81Mar 14, 2015 10:52 pm Great selections, the teak doors are so nice. Love the under mount sink and your staircase plan with the walnut tread and kickers. The electricals are pain in the bum. We actually put a variation into m 3 weeks ago to get them to do all our led/fan lights to the bedrooms, fans with no lights to the downstairs living areas, extra downlight to the ensuite and a fluro to the garage. There prices installed where actually on par with what we would of had to have paid if we did all the works required after handover. We couldn't do the sound proofing to the second story floor either as the budget said no. I hope the thicker underlay masks a lot of the thudding. Re: KDRB Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney) 82Mar 14, 2015 11:26 pm Wow 2 cooktops/range hoods! You must be a foodie Love your selections. I'm curious about the Bertazzoni upgrades. Do you mind sharing costs? I'm jealous about the timber doors. We got quoted $875 per door for the same one you got in the promo. You scored really well there! I'm kicking myself for not upgrading the stair riser to maple. I rang the supplier hoping I could sneak the variation directly but no joy! I agree - electricals are a pain - especially the preparation. M in Sydney charge $130 to $200 per downlight. We will be saving on this doing it through our electrician. We have asked for quotes on sound proofing a few of the bedroom walls - all up 4 walls - lets see what this comes back at. We aren't big fans of upright - for our tender M had quoted for the lowest quality Fisher and Paykel cook top and oven, and better quality Fisher and Paykel were pricier than Bertazzoni. We liked Bertazzoni, so it worked out well. I was of two minds with the two cooktops - but mum was adamant, and I am glad we stuck to it - for all the Indian/Pakistani cooking. Whilst we have had to pay more for the Glendale base price than we were under our original tender, I think the promo has worked out better, as we now have a few 'good to have's' which I don't think we would have gotten - including the timber doors and the ducted vacuum cleaner. I think your home is going to look gorgeous regardless of the timber risers. I was thinking whether we could do without timber treads and risers . But then carpet may be looking older sooner due to all the traffic. Our down lights where 130 each also, if you can find a good electrician that offers a great rate then you should be able to save a bundle. Ohhh keep us posted on the sound proofing. I regret not doing the whole upstairs flooring area due to the huge amount of traffic. I am hoping we are able to do it all in $100 per downlight - depends on what the electrician gets the down lights at. Will let you know how we go with sound proofing. I can't say I've tried Pakistani but I'm guessing it will be similar to Indian. Re promo, I think you definitely lucked out with the current offering. The electrical selections are particular great value. Any update on when you're expecting CDC approval? Re: KDRB Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney) 88Mar 16, 2015 9:47 pm Both cuisines are very similar We are expecting to hear back on certifier feedback this week... apparently they take about 2 weeks to do this. Hoping it's a sign off! We received a variation doc summarising the basix costs, and its come back a tad cheaper.... covers the extra costs we had to incur with the flood report. Apparently we are all 'good', and M are waiting on 'Traffic control plan'. 2 weeks isn't that long compared to going through council. We waited 7 or was it 8 weeks for DA to be approved. Didn't they change the CDC rules? 1 week neighbour notification? Re: KDRB Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney) 92Mar 21, 2015 1:59 pm 7 to 8 weeks is ages!!! Yes, they did change the rules - but I have read that people have obtained approvals in a few days!!! Good that you had all the kitchen planning to do in that time M quote for colours is expected early this coming week. We asked for a 'door' to the espresso provision in the microwave/espresso tower, and the M consultant reminded us of the $1,500 fees, and this is the last change she will put through she said. A bit disappointing, as they should really have this as a 'discussion' point at the colour appointment - as it costs a significant amount for this upgrade. Sheilzy, once you signed off on the colours, do M take a while to incorporate the colour selections in the plans? Need to do letter box drop offs re demo, and remind the council this is coming. Another project for this week is to pay s94 contributions and damage bond to council - received varying advice from council each time I have spoken to them - so hopefully I put this matter to bed this week.
