Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our First home, building MainVue Amalfi 530 322Oct 07, 2015 5:58 pm We visited our house today, and thought we'd take some photos of the issues that we were presented with at NHP. This is the state of our mortar. You can see the "off-white" trying to come through. Seriously, though, how much more sunlight do these bricks need to dry out??? http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah241/kirsty8181/DSC02132_zpsysulghl1.jpg One of many examples of how sloppy our painter is. How did he not see this drip and run off??? http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah241/kirsty8181/DSC02131_zps7nm8ecqj.jpg One of many issues with our feature wall in the kitchen http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah241/kirsty8181/DSC02129_zpszlyvfylv.jpg Apologies for the pixilation of this photo, but this is the best of our zoomed in shots of the corners of our roof (this is in most rooms) - Seriously the painter is a joke!! http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah241/kirsty8181/DSC02128_zpsfu6pke0c.jpg This picture tells a thousand words. http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah241/kirsty8181/DSC02126_zpswfvzxnbi.jpg An example of this weird stain that has appeared on three of our stone bench tops, that rubbing vigorously will not remove. http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah241/kirsty8181/DSC02124_zpso6ltaapd.jpg Where our cabinetry meets our feature wall in the kitchen. Nice straight line hey?!? http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah241/kirsty8181/DSC02122_zpsy2ouskmg.jpg The kitchen.... yet again!!!! Our SS even said "that's the problem with feature walls..." I mean, WTF?? http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah241/kirsty8181/DSC02120_zpsvyp55j6c.jpg Our painter clearly has just finished grade one judging by this quality. http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah241/kirsty8181/DSC02118_zpsm8lsamkb.jpg This sort of "bleeding" faces us all over the house. It's incredibly prominent in the kitchen though, due to the contrast in colours. http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah241/kirsty8181/DSC02117_zpscdbypxa9.jpg Someone forgot to make the wall meet the door frame in the main bathroom. http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah241/kirsty8181/DSC02115_zpsbgnbbsec.jpg These are the most glaring examples of poor workmanship, and also what we experience at NHP. I'm still in shock that our SS took us through the NHP with these issues. Sparkies had been on site yesterday to fix all electrical problems, and the side of our kitchen bench was repaired. Plasterer has been on site and done some touch ups, but was clearly not told of the issue above the bathroom door! Nobody was on site today, and having spoken to our SS today, he has not been on site since Monday, and will not get chance until our settlement on Monday - surely this is a priority??? Our confidence in MainVue is quickly evaporating. They've done 95% of the work so well, but are leaving a sour taste in our mouth at the most important point. I couldn't agree more with you, Josh. When I spoke to our SS about our shelves that didn't line up I asked "seriously, did the cabinet maker think that this was OK?" Just goes to show that there are a lot of careless cowboys out there working on our houses. Our SS did say he's getting to our house first thing. So assume he'll be there after your place. We've got our blinds being installed on Monday! Good luck with your blind measure. Who are you going through? Building our MainVue Amalfi 530 - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75694 Re: Our First home, building MainVue Amalfi 530 329Oct 07, 2015 6:34 pm Ended up going through Interlux. They do fix things though. I've had a guy come twice today sealing things. But it would be nice if it was fixed prior to moving. Re: Our First home, building MainVue Amalfi 530 333Oct 09, 2015 8:19 pm We have our final payment cheque in hand!! Provided the house is ready to go on Monday, we'll all be laughing. In saying that, I had a rep from Stegbar call me today to organise the servicing of our windows and doors, and this can't be done til Oct 21 (8 days after settlement!!). According to Stegbar, our builder should have given them 2 weeks notice for this (not like we've been building since the end of May or anything). We have sliding doors that are way out of line, as well as windows that need to be fixed to ensure they close securely, and on top of that, windows that have winders that aren't even connected! I can honestly tell you we're less than impressed by all this. Final stretch should be fun.... heck, you're usually paying for two houses at the same time, and are excited to be moving into the house of your dreams, and kissing goodbye to your previous house. Our SS has just lost the care & attention factor he had when we began, which we will reflect with Henley/MainVue's General Manager. At least the cheque is in your hand, that's one hassle done. But in terms of the house, will you settle on Monday regardless or decide if there is too much to fix and delay it?? To reassure you post handover they will fix things. I sent an email last night to SS about 6 things I wanted changed/fixed and most was done today. But the paint in your pictures is a problem. Let's hope he has them there fixing asap. Re: Our First home, building MainVue Amalfi 530 335Oct 09, 2015 9:34 pm mlp18 kirst81 We have our final payment cheque in hand!! We'll visit the house Sunday evening to get an idea of where we're at. Ultimately, we want to settle on Monday, as we have to be out of our rental by Thursday, so unfortunately, time is of the essence for us. It is incredibly reassuring to hear that your SS has kept the process going for you after handover. OMG, the amount of work our house had done in the last 7 days to fix up the gross errors we were presented with last week was amazing. We have a couple of outstanding items that will be fixed this week. Ultimately, we're incredibly happy with the end result. My state of mind is a world away from where is was a week ago. We've spent the entire evening sealing the grout on all our tiles. We also had our blinds installed by interlux this evening. Can't speak highly enough of them. The young guy who was installing them arrived at our home at 5:30PM and didn't leave until nearly 9PM. The blinds look fantastic. Will attempt to upload some pictures tomorrow. May be sketchy with internet service for the next 7 days or so, but will keep an eye out via tapatalk. The big move starts tomorrow! Building our MainVue Amalfi 530 - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75694 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point.
