You make putting up that retaining wall look easy. Maybe we should've gone down that road! :O
Are your walls all done now? How do they look?

We moved in August 2014 and we are STILL finishing the front yard! Haha yeah, but have you SEEN your front yard!? The slope you have to deal with is more than most and you've done a great job on those walls. I tell you what I wish we did the same wall type as you. Our's are getting freaking expensive :/ Coral Homes - Noosa 29 (Modified) - Landscaping 565Jan 27, 2017 6:17 pm It's been about a year since I updated as progress has been slow going! We're treating the post handover process as a marathon rather than a sprint. Here's what we've done to date.
Got married! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We lived on what was essentially a building site until September last year, nearly a full year after handover... Dirt, dirt and more dirt. Nightmare. Finally got moving on the outside fencing in October. In the process we dug up the nasty couch grass which had spread over half our yard to a depth of about half a metre. One of the hardest DIY jobs so far as the runners were so deep and tangled. Backbreaking work to dig it up and then again dumping the contaminated fill. Big improvement. Later I scrubbed the tannins from the concrete sleepers with bleach. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Somewhere in here we had a slab laid behind the house for a future carport/shed slash current handball court. Re: Coral Homes - Noosa 29 (Modified) - Landscaping 566Jan 27, 2017 6:34 pm After the fence was done (privacy!!) I stained the external outside. Nice result. Then we had 20 cubic metres of organic garden soil delivered and spread it by hand over 200sqm. Thankfully we were able to round up a few friends with wheelbarrows to help. 7 guys, 4 wheelbarrows, 9 hours later... This was done to improve the existing soil rather than just throwing down topsoil with turf on top. We levelled and levelled again ready for turf... Which was delivered on a Monday morning and took us about four hours to lay. This is Sapphire Buffalo. Brand is Intergrain, colour is Merbau. We also planted a row of acmena smithii 'cherry surprise' along the back fence/wall. Coral Homes - Noosa 29 (Modified) - Landscaping 567Jan 27, 2017 6:48 pm Out the front we planted a row of 'snow maiden' hedge plants that will grow to be about 75cam tall. Also planted three acmena smithii 'red head' trees which will get to 6m and four breynia 'coffee bush' shrubs which will get to 3m. Then we had 8 cubic metres of mulch delivered and we spread that across the front.

Can i ask did you use natural mortor or off white mortor with your bricks? Thank you. The mortar is off white Re: Coral Homes - Noosa 29 (Modified) - Landscaping 573Jan 28, 2017 9:55 am Congratulations on getting married!! The reception looks gorgeous. Very romantic! The grass looks excellent. Well done on the couch removal and leveling of the ground. We've got to do that to our backyard now. That horrible grass has come up through the dirt and taken over. It's the worst! Looking forward to seeing your deck, pergola and fire pit!! Re: Coral Homes - Noosa 29 (Modified) - Landscaping 574Jan 28, 2017 1:24 pm cat_dunc Congratulations on getting married!! Have fun with that Re: Coral Homes - Noosa 29 (Modified) - Landscaping 575Jan 28, 2017 8:58 pm manderinne Ohh you have a large yard too. Have fun with that hahaha yeah .... thanks Laying a heap of plastic out to try and kill it. Fingers crossed. It's bitter sweet - the native birds (including colourful parrots) LOVE the seeds from it and visit daily to eat them. But its really horrible prickly grass. Bird watching has been fun, but it has to go! Re: Coral Homes - Noosa 29 (Modified) - Landscaping 576Mar 08, 2017 4:21 pm Deck in progress... This will make the protection ineffective and probably void warranty... Something to consider.... Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13775 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4352 Is there a building permit? RU in Victoria? What is the value of the building contract? 1 6831 |
