Re: Yanchep WA Build with Dreamstart Homes WOO HOO! 42Sep 22, 2014 4:06 am Hi Emily - I agree it isn't fair what the developers are doing but I think you've done amazingly well with the size of the block. You'll have a nice big bit at the back which is really clever rather than having some 'wasted' space to the sides. It is definitely a lot better than nothing! Also very happy for you that you don't have to sell any organs Re: Yanchep WA Build with Dreamstart Homes WOO HOO! 43Sep 23, 2014 12:06 am MalSannie Hi Emily - I agree it isn't fair what the developers are doing but I think you've done amazingly well with the size of the block. Re: Yanchep WA Build with Dreamstart Homes WOO HOO! 45Sep 23, 2014 7:23 am Hi PA Just in regards to adding your doors and frames afterwards just make sure you can. I was reading someone else's thread who is doing the same thing re theatre etc and is at bricking and discovered they had no lintel running across the top in which to hand the frame (opening went all the way to the ceiling) fortunatley their builder allowed them to change it while bricking going on) this was despite their sales rep telling them they would be able to retro fit doors and frames. Just would hate for you to be caught out <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Yanchep WA Build with Dreamstart Homes WOO HOO! 46Sep 23, 2014 9:56 am AKB Hi PA Just in regards to adding your doors and frames afterwards just make sure you can. Just would hate for you to be caught out Thanks AKB, yes we have soffits in most places and the only two spots I missed at pre start I'm considering adding on this week (to kids corridor and laundry). You're right though, it's easily missed so hopefully someone else will be spared the pain when they read this! We also upgraded the underlay and carpet to medusa. So we will have the exact same floor colour. Natural sand tile + carpet. Oh....my husband has a thing with blue. He wanted ocean blue for window frame, garage door and blue for bathroom feature tile (oops...it isn't an option unless we upgrade). Thanks goodness the paint shop lady told him the ocean blue doesn't blend in with the render. Only then he agrees to go with something else. Lol. Ha...i love blue but not so much for the house! That was so funny that you found the house you wanted and it all fell into place for you! What a lovely lady to have invited you in - I guess she would have been very flattered too. I love your colours and think they will look great together. I am a big fan of the 'greiges' - such a gorgeous neutral base. Beautiful front door too. Haha the greiges, that's hilarious! I drove past her house again today and am really happy with the colours in all lights. I look forward to buying quite a few people a good bottle of plonk when this project is done and she will be one of them. Such a lovely lady! Wow Sofia you got advice and service at the paint shop?! You're much more special than me, I was the crazy lady purchasing two dozen sample tins every second day and not once did anyone offer me their advice! Anyone need some paint for a project? Dog Kennel? Small feature wall? Anyone? Anyone?! Good move re the blue I guess. Colours do tend to date a house alot quicker than wear and tear. I've got A LOT of friends who got blue kitchens when it was in fashion about 10 years ago, everyone was doing it apparently. I think I got my bathroom tiled in blue floor tiles about the same time. My parents put blue windows in their house. Not so hot now I'm told by my friends. Though I personally think the blue windows and doors still look good, but hey if they don't go with your render colour then thank goodness for the paint shop lady! With our windows/doors I was thinking of it from where I will spend most of my time which is on the inside of the house. Adding any colour to the inside colour palette other than white or silver wasn't going to look good. Hubby wanted silver. So I went with white. Glad I'm not the only one. I do love my washing machine, it's done me a great service. But it isn't the most attractive or whisper-quiet washing machine in the world. I also really need a door there to keep the cat locked somewhere, especially when we first move in! Where else will I keep him where he can't lay into my upgraded carpet or brand new window blinds?! Gggggrrrrrrrr! You're so funny!! My OH doesn't have a single bit of fashion or décor sense, and couldn't have cared less, so he is only just finding out now what the house is going to look like!! He wanted red brick with a green roof...and that's about where his input stopped!! Bless!!!! Re: Yanchep WA Build with Dreamstart Homes WOO HOO! 53Sep 24, 2014 12:50 am Which solver paint shop did you go to? The brochure provided by DS advises us to visit one of the solver paint decorator centers and speak to a colour consultant. It has a list.....So we did. The lady even told us to come back with our roof tile and brick since we didn't bring them last time. We got few sets of colour sample. Who would mow the lawn then?? I almost missed half of your lovely selections Did you add them later to a post? Good thing I noticed it too - you've chosen well! I love the cat, the cat damage demo and the upgraded carpet (I didn't even know you could get blue window frames - learn something new every day) Re: Yanchep WA Build with Dreamstart Homes WOO HOO! 55Sep 24, 2014 12:51 pm Rache Ha ha! Overkill, much?! Unfortunately, I mow the lawn around here. I am electronics whiz, toilet fixer, gardener, cleaner, cook, blah blah. They say if you spread yourself too thin you get sub-par. I'm a great example of that. Terrible cook. Ordinary cleaner. Great toilet fixer though. Now that I think about it, I am really struggling to see the point of my OH. Oh yes. That's right, he earns the money. And the kids kind of like him. He is also very good at digging trenches, laying drains, concreting and putting in soakwells. Hidden perks, you know? Those one-off's you need every decade or two then that's it. Only joking hahahaha Yanchep build with Dreamstart Homes ____________________________________________________________ Our build thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73323 Re: Yanchep WA Build with Dreamstart Homes WOO HOO! 57Sep 24, 2014 1:12 pm sofia14 Which solver paint shop did you go to? I just went to the closest on that list. Don't think any of them had done any colour consultancy work or they would surely have noticed me. I did ask for their advice on some of my choices but the most I ever got back was that "yes that's a popular colour". Don't get me wrong, they were always nice people. But I suspect I'd need to actually call and make an appointment somewhere else for a colour consultant given the advice you received.
