Re: Building in Aveley - Post-handover - Wardrobes! 922Oct 14, 2015 5:22 am Wow Hootie that looks wonderful! I love those custom sliding doors and I'm so so happy to hear they've fixed the drainage problem and the garage door so quickly - that is a real positive for your builder. Re: Building in Aveley - Post-handover - Wardrobes! 923Oct 14, 2015 9:08 am Congrats hootie! I missed your keys moment. The kitchen is awesome the selections have worked out so well. The wardrobes look great too. Such a stylish home you've built yourselves! Looking forward to more pics Re: Building in Aveley - Post-handover - Wardrobes! 924Oct 14, 2015 10:48 am Great that the issues got sorted so quickly. Wow for those wardrobes - just a teensy bit jealous!! Re: Building in Aveley - Post-handover - Flooring begins! 925Oct 14, 2015 7:40 pm Thanks everyone...what a rush the few days have been! I've lost track of days and times lol Petad - I am glad that you like Flexi as well. We are so happy with the workmanship and quality. Mrs Hootie has been smiling about the wardrobes too The builder has been very quick in resolving the issues, I can vouch for that. Absolutely amazing. I appreciate everyone's words of support. I've taken a few days off work to settle the post handover trades and so far its been one trade after the other, but what a rewarding feeling seeing things getting done and items that we ordered delivered. Still have to find time to order the furniture and set a delivery date. The movers have been booked! Hooray! Not long now till we officially move in Today flooring started with floor prep...2 guys worked very quickly to get the floor prepped. One of the trades that came by the house commented on the attention to detail that the flooring guys paid to the floor prep and said that they were doing a good job. Finally we got to see our flooring planks again! The place where we bought them from did not have samples to take away. Here is a preview of the planks placed on the floor so that we could see the colour/contrast with the kitchen cupboards and bench: 1) Vinyl plank contrasted with kitchen cupboards: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 2) Vinyl plank contrasted with waterfall end of kitchen bench: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 3) Floor prep done to ramp up vinyl planks to powder room and bathroom tiles: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 4) Floor screeding done in living area: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 5) Floor screeding done in bedrooms passageway: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Tomorrow the major parts of the floor will be laid and we can't wait to see how the vinyl planks will look when covering a large area... MalSannie The flooring looks amazing against the cabinets - wow How exciting that you have the move arranged!! You sound so organised - the hard work will definitely pay off Thanks We had 3/4 of the flooring installed today and it turned out looking well. You can't really tell the colour looking at the one sample piece from the showroom, but we are glad (and lucky) to have it seemingly match well. Petad - I watched the guys as they worked and in my opinion we are glad that we are not doing the install ourselves. The amount of floor prep that they had to do showed attention to every detail. Walking on the floor after the sanding and screeding, we noticibly felt that the floor was much more level than before the screeding. The flooring guys did comment that the builder did a good job with the level of he slab, but in several small areas levelling was needed. More importantly there was a fair amount of minor levelling at the areas of the slab where there were cracks. [quote="Woolyfish"]Wardrobe heaven Thanks Woolyfish...we started filling up the wardrobes today...can't believe the extra space that we have now compared to the wardrobe in our older house. Having the shelves make such a difference! So now I have some pics of the flooring for you guys: 1) Flooring installed in kitchen area: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 2) Dining/Living area - There are some scraps and dust which they will clean tomorrow, so excuse those if you see them in the pic: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Tomorrow they should be done with the flooring. I will have to touch up some areas of the wall where the paint has chipped off during the floor installation, but that is a minor job. We went to Ikea tonight and there is another task added to our list - the furniture that we purchased tonight will be delivered on Saturday morning! We opted for delivery ($70 flat rate) because we bought quite a few pieces, plus we already maxed out the picking fee (up to $50 max) charged by Ikea with the 2 sofas, so we might as well get them to pick the other items too lol... Landscaper also came by today to introduce the people who would be doing the paving and artificial turf. Looks like ground prep and excavation work could start from tomorrow! They reckon around 3 to 4 weeks of work and we could be enjoying our firepit and the fact that there will be no more sandy frontyard and backyard! Yesterday was the only night after the keys collection that I managed to get some decent sleep....things have been moving so quickly and of course I tend to worry a tad too much, so sleep has suffered, but I think I may be back on track in that department now that more things are getting settled lol...zzzzz... Re: Building in Aveley - Post-handover - Flooring begins! 934Oct 16, 2015 10:16 am Hootie, the floor is beautiful!! I really don't know what to do about screeding or not for ours. All the advice on here says do it, but we have spoken to the flooring shop and also the tiler that did our bathrooms and they have both said that there's no need. Can't wait to see some more pictures when your furniture goes in! Re: Building in Aveley - Post-handover - Flooring begins! 936Oct 16, 2015 2:33 pm On the home stretch Hootie. Looks great.
