I see you're a bit partial to the woodgrain and greys too! Re: Summit build in the South West - Cabinets in!! 342Sep 24, 2014 12:09 am AKB Greige ?? You learn something new everyday Cabinets look gorgeous Hey there AKB! If you have a look at platinum micro it is the perfect example of it - not true grey or beige, so greige it is! Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiler meeting! 343Sep 24, 2014 12:40 am Spoke to our SS tonight and I am meeting him at the block tomorrow, hopefully with our tiler who should start in the next week or so. Can't wait to see this part of the build! Excited but nervous at the same time - another moment of truth!! Apparently the bath is deeper than on the plan so they have to cut out some of the concrete to allow for this?? Also, a question for all you seasoned home builders - should the ridge capping on your roof sit flat, without any little dips along it where the screws have been put in? Or is this a regular occurrence? Thanks in advance for any advice about this coz I have to follow it up with the SS tomorrow. Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiler meeting! 344Sep 24, 2014 5:13 am Good luck with your meeting tomorrow Rache hopefully you get some good news about your tiler we had to wait 3 weeks it was agony our roof capping has small noticable dents too so I think what you are looking at may be normal but without seeing it Im not sure do you have a photo? Otherwise have a look at other new houses to compare. Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiler meeting! 345Sep 24, 2014 6:53 am Rache as you know I can be of absolutely zero zilch help - but I'm super excited for you re the potential tile meeting !!! I can't wait to see your tiles in either.... for some reason the platinum micro is the one colour laminex I did not get, I can't wait to see it in 'the flesh' either it looks lovely. Hope your meeting goes well can't wait to hear the update (and see the evidence ) Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiler meeting! 346Sep 24, 2014 9:46 am Thanks Hopeful and MalSannie. I will have a quick drive to check out new roofs to see if they look the same. My OH isn't happy with the 'dents'- our roof has been the biggest bug bear for us unfortunately. Will update later today! Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiler meeting! 347Sep 24, 2014 10:25 am I'd be guessing the 'dents' are where they have drilled the tech screws in too tight. But what is too tight when you are trying to hold a roof on in wind?? We had an issue with the finish on part of our roof in our last house we built - we went past a few of the builders display homes, took photos of the finish on these houses, so when the builder said no, was all sweet we were able to say 'well your display homes aren't like that'. They did fix it, especially as we were building a display and we argued that we expected the same finish on our house as the one they were using to sell their product. Tile meeting already, hooking along Rache! Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiler meeting! 348Sep 24, 2014 5:18 pm I hope they fix your roof to your satisfaction Rache, there is nothing worse than not being happy with something you've spent gazillions on! Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiler meeting! 349Sep 25, 2014 12:12 am Marcia I'd be guessing the 'dents' are where they have drilled the tech screws in too tight. We had an issue with the finish on part of our roof in our last house we built - we went past a few of the builders display homes, took photos of the finish on these houses, so when the builder said no, was all sweet we were able to say 'well your display homes aren't like that'. Tile meeting already, hooking along Rache! Yes, you're right Marcia. The SS says most of them look like that and if we loosen them off too much you could end up with it rattling in the wind. Having had a look around I reckon it's 50/50 - probably more about good workmanship versus poor workmanship than anything else. My OH argues exactly that - that we expect the finish we paid for. And lets face it, as MalSannie said we're spending 'gazillions' on it!! As for tile meeting - apparently they cant even get hold of him let alone arrange for him to meet us out there! Here goes that waiting game again! Was very disappointed to say the least. MalSannie I hope they fix your roof to your satisfaction Rache, there is nothing worse than not being happy with something you've spent gazillions on! Me too MalSannie. Will speak to SS again tomorrow. We have a new one mid build - I really like him and feel heard and supported so that's pretty cool. Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiler meeting! 350Sep 25, 2014 12:52 am Bugger re tiler Rache...,,fingers crossed they get hold of him soon <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Summit build in the South West - Front door and shelving 351Sep 25, 2014 11:31 am Rache By the way MalSannie...while I was at the block today one of my ensuite tiles fell out of the box!!! Bloody tradies are so unreliable (well not all of them)! Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiler meeting! 353Sep 25, 2014 7:39 pm Thanks AKB, Trees and asha! Still no luck! Told the SS I will hunt him down myself but he was a bit dubious coz he wants him alive preferably!!!:-) Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiler meeting! 354Sep 26, 2014 12:08 am Sorry about your tiler being MIA. Seeing will be believing with ours. He was supposed to be in Europe for 7 weeks and that was about 4/5 weeks ago. Perhaps they have flown him back just for me. My Build, viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64837 Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiler meeting! 355Sep 26, 2014 2:45 am Oh dear a MIA tiler How unfortunate! You should ask kellydoug for her cute tiler's details Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiler meeting! 357Sep 26, 2014 11:59 pm triggywiggy Sorry about your tiler being MIA. Seeing will be believing with ours. He was supposed to be in Europe for 7 weeks and that was about 4/5 weeks ago. Perhaps they have flown him back just for me. Wouldn't that make you feel special!!! Hope he turns up soon triggy! I have actually found our MIA tiler! Turns out he has been working at a place with no reception unless he stands out in a paddock striking some weird pose!!! He is about a week and a half away. We have to wait for the concrete to be sorted for the bath and the plumbers to come back anyway so will probably work out quite well. MalSannie Oh dear a MIA tiler How unfortunate! You should ask kellydoug for her cute tiler's details Hehehe!! I could do that MalSannie but he's probably about 3hrs from where we are located and would cost a fortune in travel and/or accommodation costs! He would have to be incredibly cute for that!!! AKB MalSannie Oh dear a MIA tiler How unfortunate! You should ask kellydoug for her cute tiler's details Bwhhhaaaaa 'Gorgeous George' You guys are hilarious!!! Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiler meeting! 358Sep 27, 2014 12:58 am Just another update... we have been given the okay to go ahead with exposed aggregate for our alfresco area. It would have been lovely to have it all the way around but finances wouldn't allow. Thought this would be a lovely feature, and we are planning to slab a piece of curly jarrah that is sitting out in the paddock to use as a bar bench in this area too. We have chosen a colour called Pebble Beach by Holcim. I really love it and will post a pic as soon as our internet allows or I get to the library!! Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiler meeting! 359Sep 27, 2014 1:02 am We are looking at the same colour agg Rache you have awesome taste.
