Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the Cleo two story with Simonds SA - Lock up 561Jul 12, 2015 12:50 am I had to share our new entertaining area... I'm so happy with it. In just one day which was one hell of a day weather wise my partner & our electrician got this up. Underneath will be polished concrete & it will be enclosed with cafe blinds, walls, a fire, tv etc in the next few weeks! Love it!!! Did they do that yesterday??? Mick is amazing! Is there anything he can't do?! And he gets stuck in, full steam. Fantastic! My husband is really handy, will do any/everything. But he's mega fussy and slow, would be perfect if he could wind things up a bit Re: Building the Cleo two story with Simonds SA - Lock up 563Jul 12, 2015 6:48 pm Yup all done yesterday in the horrible weather, they didn't stop until 1am this morning.. Solid effort. I'm lucky he is a man of many trades & when he starts something he gets it done. Tuesday our shed goes up than concreter back the following week. It's really NEVER ending in this house hold, will be glad when it's all over. This is really a life-saver thread. I'm planning to build CLEO 37.5 squares with extension at back and really got excited to read through your experience! Is it possible for you to suggest the overall rough building cost? Also, if you got Simonds to do the driveway & Evaporated cooling or got it done yourself? Cheers, Parag Re: Building the Cleo two story with Simonds SA - Lock up 565Nov 03, 2015 10:26 pm Hi guys! It's SimondsCleo but I some how locked myself out of the old user name. Gr! Yours was the first thread I started following on H1. I love your style, and that stratco pavilion is amazeballs!! I love how you're making it into an outdoor room too. Re: Building the Cleo two story with Simonds SA - Lock up 570Jan 02, 2016 9:30 am Hello!!!! Agree with lambsie, beautiful D Loved following your build, it went so well you have a great attitude too Sorry to hear about the mister's knee He's so young, fit and active, that sucks! Nice outdoor setting, can see that getting a good workout Re: Building the Cleo two story with Simonds SA - Lock up 572Jan 04, 2016 3:47 pm Thankyou guys!! I'm absolutely loving the pavilion and can't wait to paint the new walls and load it with all the outside goodies. I won't want to come inside then He's dealing ok with being a cripple and loving sitting on the couch watching Netflix whilst I'm slacking away at work haha but he is 37 so not as young as he looks haha! Outdoor furniture is going to be very much used! Thanks twin_dad, they are just off eBay but we thought they added a cool little feature to the area. Tiler is highly recommended! Did I mention how depressing it is looking at our backyard & seeing just how much needs to be done. Plants are so expensive and I don't want to wait 30 years for trees to grow haha. Regretting buying a 2000sqm block but it will be worth it in the end right? My partner, myself & our miss 8 year old are building "The Cleo" with Simonds Homes. Re: Building the Cleo two story with Simonds SA - Lock up 573Jan 05, 2016 9:25 pm Yeah plants are very exxy. I've been growing some in pots here for the past 18 months. My palms still ain't big enough I think your front and back look fantastic. You haven't been in long at all. Two thumbs up for Shane Thanks for recommending him. He did a fantastic job. Very meticulous and hardworking. Lovely guy to boot! How the heck do you keep these porcelains clean??? I mopped them three times LOL I picked the dark mocha colour, didn't help much Re: Building the Cleo two story with Simonds SA - Lock up 574Jan 07, 2016 10:10 pm They are but we are just buying a few trees every week so it's not such a big cost! We have a friend who works at a wholesale nursery, so the trips there are always good! Oh and a friends mum just gave us soooooo many agapanthus's for free which is good! Here's a hot tip.. A company is regency is an ex plant rental company and every 3 months they do big plant sales with most plants and pots only $5 each it's where we brought all our palms.. This lot below cost $100.. The second lot was our first time which included pots to Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I can let you know when the next one is on if your interested! Yes Shane's awesome & the tiles are hard to keep clean. I think mine would be easier being lighter as my dark ones in my bathrooms show dust so much worse. I haven't found the secret trick yet.. But the fancy spin mops don't work nor did a steam mop both being too wet. I'm sticking to my old style one now! Bit of disinfectant (not to much) and boiling water & a well squeezed out mop! I need that fresh "clean" smell.. But I think I'll hire a cleaner. My partner, myself & our miss 8 year old are building "The Cleo" with Simonds Homes. Building the Cleo two story with Simonds SA - Lock up 575Jan 19, 2016 9:47 pm Thought I'd share my little fire experience for those who wanted to see photos earlier.. Turns out when my partner decided to put his cigarette in a butt bucket on the balcony it didn't go out. Instead it melted and set fire to our furniture outside & decking.. Left burn marks on the roof & dropped hot melted wicker from the setting on the deck downstairs that we put hours of labour into. All I can say is I'm thankful for insurance after all it could have been so much worse! Re: Building the Cleo two story with Simonds SA - Lock up 576Jan 19, 2016 9:49 pm Oh wow Cleo. So glad your mansion is ok!! Re: Building the Cleo two story with Simonds SA - Lock up 577Jan 19, 2016 9:55 pm Thankyou, me to! I couldn't imagine building all over again.. Although I would def change a few things I didn't previously do to this house There was a couple more bits of furniture to that got burnt but was thrown over the balcony so it didn't go up completely just burnt bits on it. Hopefully they can replace those chairs to but as its from our outdoor couch downstairs I'm not holding my breath. I'm not even sure shops sell just the sections of outdoor couches My partner, myself & our miss 8 year old are building "The Cleo" with Simonds Homes. Re: Building the Cleo two story with Simonds SA - Lock up 578Jan 19, 2016 10:00 pm Jeebuz! Yeah, lucky the Cleo Castle is still standing! I missed your post prior. Would ZLOVE to know when next plant sale is on. Thanks that would be awesome. And thanks for sharing your mopping woes (oh dear) Will the porch deck be okay do you reckon? Has the wicker (looks like a plastic mix compound) bonded/melted to it? Re: Building the Cleo two story with Simonds SA - Lock up 579Jan 19, 2016 10:01 pm PS your dawgy is too cute ... I can't believe how much he's grown! Building the Cleo two story with Simonds SA - Lock up 580Jan 19, 2016 10:04 pm I'll let you know once I receive an email for the sale The deck will def need to be ripped up and replaced. It's suck on really really well & the parts we picked off with a screw driver has left oil look marks I'm glad the tradies will replace it all though because I refuse to do that again haha! CommInsure are sending people out Monday.. I'm surprised by the constant calls & appointments already in place for repairs!
