Browse Forums Building A New House Re: White Design and Construction 101Oct 20, 2015 7:32 pm Absolutely right Moonlight, there was nothing wrong with estimation the price was never underestimated as they claim now, infact it was more than the big builders in the market at that point of time, this is just to cover up other things that they are playing, a few are getting together to take legal action, like minded sufferers can join and collectively work. They just can't get away like this causing all this financial and emotional stress to our families. They have to compensate us in some way. Re: White Design and Construction 104Nov 07, 2015 7:58 pm HarryV Glad I walked away after my first chat with wdc. Sentence that put me off and raised all kind of red flags was when Katie said they can build the house in what ever budget we want. What exactly is wrong with a statement like that? In my case I was given a quote for $x as a base price for a turnkey house as a custom floor plan and facade and with a set level of inclusions I was satisfied with. It was my choice to then set my budget $65k higher for additional quoted fixtures and fittings I asked them to price up. Re: White Design and Construction 105Nov 07, 2015 8:26 pm Maximus, you really have no idea what this business has put people through recently. As has been stated before on this thread, things have changed with this builder since you built with them. A number of staff have been fired. They had started doing jobs at cost and or on minimal gross profit margins; to the point where their home warranty insurer would no longer provide insurance certificates. They took deposits and signed contracts with people without insurance in place for those builds. They then attempted to make huge variations to the price of those contracts. I don't understand your constant support for them on these forums. Things change and as of right now they are not a reputable builder and have caused a lot of heartache for many clients. Re: White Design and Construction 106Nov 07, 2015 9:00 pm @HarryV, You are clever enough to judge those people. The pain we are going thru and also to accept the fact that after 1 and half year we are back to square 1 is very hard. After a chat of 30 mins, I was not given a base quote. I was told that the house can be built in any price range - which was not what I was expecting. Re: White Design and Construction 109Nov 09, 2015 10:12 am Hi Maximus, As others have mentioned, we went through a similar ordeal of them signing with us on a fixed contract value, going all the way to getting everything DA Approved only to turn back on us later on, stating that the price will be over by 150K to the initial agreed value. All this happened after delaying months and months, giving HOW as an excuse. If pricing was a concern, they should have told us earlier prior to DA Approval and signing a contract so that either we could negotiate an acceptable pricing or we would have down scaled the plans and inclusions. You can imagine the state we are in, where if we are to change the drawings, then we have to do submit another application for DA Approval. They even went to an extent of getting 5% deposit out of us without issuing Home Owner's Warranty which we have come to know that they are not supposed to do that. They may have been good some years back, but recently they have put some of their clients in serious emotional and financial stress. Anyone considering them as their builder should be careful. Re: White Design and Construction 111Nov 30, 2015 10:55 am Hi All, We had undergone the similar around $150k rise in the price. I agreed with the people who mentioned the resignation of sales manager is a drama. After 1 and 1/2 year she made us in a situation that we have to start everything from scratch. If she would have told earlier about the price rise before signing the contract ,it would have been different. She always claims that she is truthful and she has kids.So dare to put all the false information via email. This company is not trustworthy. Beware before considering them. Re: White Design and Construction 113Jan 28, 2016 11:21 am Hi, Just wondering if anyone is in the middle or end of construction with WDC. Please update the status if so. We are in the middle of construction and nothing seems to be happening. Are they taking the shape or not yet. Insha Hi Inshal, We are about 4-5 weeks from completion and things are moving along pretty well. There is something happening most days on site and communication has been good. We are about a week behind where we thought we'd be but that's not too bad in the scheme of things. Getting VERY excited. 11/11/13- dep paid 4/4/14- settlement Feb '15- DA app 6/8/15- CC site works begin 19/8/15- Formwork 25/8/15- slab 3/9/15- elect. appt 13/10/15 - frame started 19/10- bricks started 31/10 - roof done Re: White Design and Construction 115Jan 28, 2016 9:17 pm Hi Caff, happy to hear you are steaming along. Hope I could catch up to you. I am waiting on scaffolding so that the brickies can continue the second level. Cheers Re: White Design and Construction 118Jan 29, 2016 1:18 pm Hi Caff, I'm also interested. Your roof is done on 31/10 and there's still 4-5 weeks to go? Seems a bit slow even taking account the Christmas break. Was things delayed? I'm also building with WDC btw, waiting for roof to be installed next week. Cheers Re: White Design and Construction 119Jan 30, 2016 5:50 am ksama0079 Hi Caff, I'm also interested. Your roof is done on 31/10 and there's still 4-5 weeks to go? Cheers There was nothing done for 6 weeks from mid December until last week, which we expected. Prior to that there was something done most days- render, gutter guards, eves, electrical, plumbing, air con etc. We visit the site every night after work (love daylight saving) and can see something has happened almost every day- sometimes it's really small but it's still progress. There have also been some delays due to rain and extreme heat which I have kept a log of and don't seem unreasonable. We have had regular site meetings (approximately each fortnight or whenever something significant has happened or if we have a question that can't be explained via email). Don't get me wrong- it has certainly been a test of patience but most of our delays have been caused by council. It seems we'll be about 6 months from slab to keys - with the Christmas break in there as well. 11/11/13- dep paid 4/4/14- settlement Feb '15- DA app 6/8/15- CC site works begin 19/8/15- Formwork 25/8/15- slab 3/9/15- elect. appt 13/10/15 - frame started 19/10- bricks started 31/10 - roof done Thanks very much!
