Love the excavator guy....very cute!!! (the little one of course... ) Heh heh! He was in his element on the back hoe There has been more movement lately...we have all moved out over the weekend, and are beginning to settle into my Parents Unit. Even the poor cat has made an appearance out of the WIR! We still have a few bits and pieces to move out of the house, as well as take down our timber venetians and some light fittings which will go in the new house. But we still have a little time before demo as we are patiently waiting for the gas and electricity to be cut off. Other than that, it's pretty much all systems go...and I still can't believe it! I am absolutely stuffed though! I didn't think it would be this hard...and we have to do it all again in about 10 months time! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! We have had gas/electricity cut - it was quicker than i thought - about 10days in total, I was prepared for 21! But the demo company can't fit us in until the week after next so hopefully the house will be gone in 2-3 weeks Our build doesn't start until November though My karma ran over your dogma Re: The Story of Stormy's Castle. *Loooooong overdue update* 105Sep 04, 2008 8:25 pm I told you a while ago it was going to be a race between the two of us!!
I only notified Origin Energy a week ago about the abolishments. I didn't want to get in too early incase they cut it off and we were still living there! I'm not sure when the demo company can fit us in, then it will take about 4-6 weeks for H3nl3y to start (another soil test, engineers report for trees etc). They did say at Contract signing that we should have a slab, frame and roof before Christmas...so I can only hope!! It still doesn't seem quite real...yet I keep spending money on decorative items! Ooops!! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! That makes sense about your electricity - we weren't living there so just wanted it off. Origin were the ones that did our electricity and it took them less than a week, AGL for the gas was a little longer but still under 2 weeks. The only thing that took a bit longer for us was the fact we stupidly thought one of the cables coming from the roof was an electricity line so we thought they must have been taking ages to remove it, then we realised it was actually a phone line Optus came out that same day to remove it I can only hope we have frame/roof/slab before Christmas - its so hard, because we were told our start date is anywhere from 1st Nov - 30 Nov, if they leave it til the 30th they will only have 2 weeks on site before they go on xmas holidays, so that can delay us heaps Let the race begin My karma ran over your dogma Re: The Story of Stormy's Castle. *Loooooong overdue update* 107Sep 13, 2008 9:11 pm A little update...
We have been in our 'temp accom' for 2 weeks, and still no sign of the gas or power being cut off. The phone has been disconnected, and the Optus cable has been removed from the house, but we still wait...and wait...and wait! Aus Post has completely stuffed up our mail redirection, and it is still being delivered to our soon to be demolished house. I'm still waiting on a phone call from their customer service with an explanation... I will also be informing them of the two weeks credit I would like in return for them botching up the job. Why should I have to pay for a service which doesn't deliver (pun intended!). The house looks quite sad now it's all empty, and really doesn't feel like our home anymore. The cat has settled in a bit better, and spends more time out of the WIR than in, but still gets spooked easily when she wonders around outside. After 2 weeks, I'm over the whole thing already. Can someone please make my Wilshire magically appear without all the added stress? Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Hopefully we'll be getting earthworks started in the next 2-3 weeks. Re: The Story of Stormy's Castle. *Loooooong overdue update* 109Sep 13, 2008 10:01 pm How frustrating for you!!
I was told that AGL can take quite a while to cut the gas - I was informed by alot of people to stay on top of them - call them daily for updates etc. Lucky I followed this advice and they claim they didn't recieve the 2 faxes I sent them for abolishment of gas supply...finally they recieved it after the 3rd day I then rang them daily to find out when it was cut off - it seemed to work as they cut it in 10 days or so - they probably wanted to get rid of me... The demolition company - well thats another story, still waiting My karma ran over your dogma Re: The Story of Stormy's Castle. *Loooooong overdue update* 110Sep 15, 2008 5:16 pm I took your advice, Bel, and have just spent the last hour on the phone (mostly on hold ) enquiring about the gas and electricity. I swear I was about to throw the phone through the window. After speaking to 5 different people (none of who could tell me anything about the gas) I finally got onto to the supply guys, only to find their office shuts at 4pm and they couldn't access their service records. . The bloke did say that there is about a 20 day wait...which I informed him was up on wednesday . I have to ring back tomorrow before 4pm.
Electricity was pretty much the same. They recieved the fax on the 29th August, processed it on the 1st Sept, and told me it should take about 10 days....HELLO??? It's the 15th? Why do I still have electricity then? ...he couldn't tell me...neither could the other company I was transferred to responsible for the actual works. </rant> I think I need a glass of red and a block of chocolate. I'll see what happens in the next few days...in which time hopefully 'the postal company' have sorted out my redirection as well I have calmed down somewhat, and there is a block of chocolate in the pantry with my name written all over it! Actually, it's probably the sole reason I am carrying all of this building weight!!!
AusPost stuffed up our redirection as well - it was all going okay, then 6 months in, it just stopped arriving!!! Of course they said that there was no problem that they could see when they rang the mail centre , and then it suddenly started arriving again!!! As for service abolishment.... We were with Simply Energy, and I was told 4 different things by 4 different people....it's so frustrationg, isn't it??!!! Ugh!!!! Focus on the "end result"!!! At this stage, the end result looks like me booked in to rehab Thankyou for your understanding! It's so nice to be able to vent on the odd occasion. I know companies have certain ways in which they do things, but when one woman I spoke to at 'the gas company' asked for my account number, address etc, then said I couldn't access the account as it was in my Husbands name (and he would have to ring), I let fly. I didn't want to access the account, I wanted to know why it hadn't been cut off after I organised it 2 1/2 weeks ago. I had no trouble then.... AARRRGGGGGHHH! Mmmmm...peppermint chocolate!! Can someone please make my Wilshire magically appear without all the added stress? No. You must torture yourself for many months yet, and then add the stress of the actual move, and then put up with things that go wrong in your new home, and then..... It will work. Trust me. Time will elapse, you will get handover, and you will feel not much older than you do now. Moving in to a new home is a good thing and worth the wait. Geoff - Decophile.
