My folks are doing a drive by later I wonder what they'll see Re: Yanchep RedInk build: Splashback in, PCI date 30 Nov :) 1791Nov 22, 2015 10:39 pm My folks went around to the house yesterday to take pictures of the paving and garage doors - and found the door wide open nevermind locked. I'm almost sorry they did. Our worst nightmare - and what I've had sleepless nights about for the past week - has come true. The tiles look awful and not even CLOSE to what we would have wanted. Our first 'request' was 'not something with a brown or green tinge, cementy'. Our whole house is grey/white/black even on the outside. It looks like it has a brownish pink tone. It clashes with the French Black bench. Sover Earth child looks blue against it so that won't work either. You could blame it on the camera, but the french black looks true to colour as does the splashback. It looks absolutely NOTHING like the picture they sent us. We are wondering whether it is the same tile. I know it is still dirty, but even in the close-up the grout looks grey while the tile does not. And I can't imagine they'd be smearing a pink/brown layer over it - what would be the point? We have no idea what to do, I don't even want to see the bl@@dy house anymore - and how on earth are we to choose a paint colour now? We wanted to paint the house before my folks move in and before we're due in Perth. I really want to know your opinion on whether you think any reasonable person would think they were the same colour, or that the photo they sent us was a reasonable representation of it. Because my mum who doesn't like making waves and has so far said to most things 'it'll be fine' said this was brown without hesitation. Followed by 'we'll probably like it eventually' - which is NOT what we pay a shedload of money for. So - Does this: http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j68/MalSannie/Tiles/1%200_zpsjx1y2x8i.jpg Look anything like this: http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j68/MalSannie/Tiles/1%202_zpsn2k1efam.jpg Here is a link to a load of pics - sorted by filename will have the pic they sent us first. Different light, taken with different devices. http://s77.photobucket.com/user/MalSannie/library/Tiles?sort=9&page=1 I apologise for being a bit awol with everyone's builds Yanchep RedInk build: Tile woes :( 1792Nov 22, 2015 10:45 pm Oh no I see what you mean it does look much more greyer in the photo they sent you, may be a little better once lighting is in? I would be the same as you at this point though and unhappy Re: Yanchep RedInk build: Does this look like the same tile? 1793Nov 22, 2015 11:21 pm Thanks Natalie - yes I was scared it would have a yellow hue from the photo they sent, never in a million years would have imagined it brown - especially since we specifically said not brown Re: Yanchep RedInk build: Does this look like the same tile? 1794Nov 22, 2015 11:26 pm I think they look similar. But maybe it's just the amount of natural light in house versus shop, or maybe they are still waxy? maybe don't rush the paint if perhaps you can find a paint that looks better but wait til you can see in person or use an interior decorator got help with the paint? Or maybe dark grey sheers would throw some muted light to make the floor more grey for you? Once you have furniture in it might not be so noticeable to you? Hope it all comes right for you. Re: Yanchep RedInk build: Does this look like the same tile? 1795Nov 22, 2015 11:30 pm Oh Mal!! I absolutely feel for you! They do look different between the 2 photos but they also look the same too, they were also under a shop light in the original photo which would lighten them up I guess. See how you feel when everything is clean? But I'd raise it with them. Hugs x splashback looks amazing though and congrats on the PCI date! Yanchep RedInk build: Does this look like the same tile? :( 1796Nov 22, 2015 11:41 pm Hi Malsannie, I agree with Archetto, they look different yet the same, depending on the lighting? I really like the tile and your spaces look amazing. Once the house is lighted well, cleaned & dressed it will look different again... Our bathroom tiles from the same shop looked grey . We had to go back and make sure that they were brown . I still like the tile but I know that's not the colour you were going for . Chin up mal xxxx your house is gorgeous . Re: Yanchep RedInk build: Does this look like the same tile? 1798Nov 22, 2015 11:59 pm Thanks, Beazley archetto and Purplenetti - yes they look like the same tile but the colour looks completely different to me. Which is probably why it is bl@@dy impossible to choose something when you're not there in person. Beazley what RedInk *should* have done in this instance was to offer up another 'consultation' with one of the interior designers that they employ to make a reselection taking all our other selections into consideration. It was one of them that helped us choose the tiles and paint colour to start with. We only have a short time in Perth, and did not want to spend it to choose paint colour and have it painted after. It will delay the move and the blinds going in. We were hoping my folks would be moved in by the time we arrive so we could work on making the house liveable with proper lights and the garden not a sandpit. It irks me that we spent all that money on a trip to Perth to make these selections - after THEIR sales person told us it would probably not be a good idea to do it online. We've also already ordered white blinds to stay as neutral as possible. Thanks, Mels, it was because of possible light differences that we bought a tile each of the ones we selected. So that we could look at it in different lights and times of day. And so that we could buy a sample of the paint colours suggested to us by the RedInk employed designer to paint a board and hold it against it. We hate the brown against the grey look very very much - it clashes I've been postponing doing the email in the hope I'd look at it and think it is/will be ok. I'm so fed up of writing these angry/disappointed emails. The outside shower is wrong too and the paving and the WIR and it looks like there may be a leak in the main loo. So I have to send one anyway. I wish for the day when I get an update with photos that I'm completely and 100% happy with and where I can see no errors. archetto we don't have an adairs to spend money on, but yesterday we went for a bit of retail therapy here - it helped a bit Hey everyone Not for me or anyone I know, just generally interested.
