Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 20, 2013 1:26 am So I've been trawling through this forum, reading about all your building experiences for the past few weeks. I thought I'd start my own thread - even if no one reads this I think its a fantastic way to document what I'm sure will be a tedious, but fantastic, journey.
I'd been researching for months before I finally bit the bullet and put down a deposit on a block of land just a few weeks ago. I'll be building my first home in the lovely new Eden Beach estate in Jindalee WA. It's just a small block - 10m frontage and 300sqm - but that's all I need for my first property. I've also signed up with Homebuyers Centre and will be building The Regent - a 3 x 2 house. So far I've received my Colour Selection folder (I'm already so overwhelmed by the choices!) and I have my formal finance meeting with Resolve tomorrow afternoon. To any experienced builders, I would greatly appreciate any hints and tips! Re: Building My First Home - Eden Beach, Jindalee 2Nov 20, 2013 3:51 am Here is a copy of the floor plan I've decided on. http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af50 ... 3fef2f.jpg I'm not making many structural changes - so far I've just raised the ceilings from 28c to 31c. Homebuyers also had an promo offering a free upgrade to a 900mm oven and 5-burner bench top, and were also kind enough to add Caeserstone benchtops in the kitchen. Re: Building My First Home - Eden Beach, Jindalee 3Nov 20, 2013 6:03 am Hi Maggie! Welcome aboard I'm building with HBC in victoria, we are waiting on pre-approval with resolve so we can get the move onto formal. Colour selections are already doing my head in hehe! Too many to choose from and I read threads here and go "ooh maybe that!" Hehe We got the kitchen promo too! So glad we did. We nearly signed our PWC during their landscaping promo, glad we stalled for various reasons. Re: Building My First Home - Eden Beach, Jindalee 4Nov 24, 2013 9:05 pm Hi MaggieMac Just a quick message to welcome you to the building world My husband and I are building in Jindalee also, although not in the new Eden Beach estate, its a lovely area. Wishing you all the best on your build, if you have any questions feel free to ask, we have built before and I promise you will thoroughly enjoy it (we did hence why we are building again hehe I look forward to following your building story, do you know how long until your titles are ready for your block? Re: Building My First Home - Eden Beach, Jindalee 5Nov 24, 2013 9:10 pm Welcome Maggie. We chose to go up to 31c too.... I think it will make a big difference in making the house feel spacious. Homebuyers seem to be very quick so I'm sure you'll be in your new place in no time. Re: Building My First Home - Eden Beach, Jindalee 7Nov 28, 2013 9:38 pm Thanks everyone! Rosienchris - my titles aren't due out until February, so I have plenty of time to make my selections and change my mind a few times No doubt I will be trawling through this site and asking plenty of questions!!! Don't remember seeing those, wonder if they are new most of our standard options were dated, joys of a low end builder! This is the fun bit, picking colours and if like me, second guessing your choices I'm not air show many times I fished crosbys! Though I was living about 10 minutes away when we were going through this stage!! Ill be working in Butler next year so looking forward to spending some time in the area Re: My First Home - Jindalee - Pre-Start on Tuesday!! 12May 09, 2014 12:56 pm Hi Maggie, My husband and I are also building in Eden Beach. We set up a group on facebook called Eden Beach Future Residents if you'd like to join and share your story there too. We have our first meeting with a builder tomorrow at 101 Residential for a one storey. we got a 15m front block 480m. So excited but at the same time nervous and want to be cautious and not let them distract me too much with nice taps or tiles haha!!! I get a bit carried away with stuff like that being the daughter of a retred painter/decorator. Anyway hope everything went well with your pre-start. looking forward to hearing about your building journey Re: My First Home - Jindalee - Pre-Start on Tuesday!! 13May 28, 2014 12:20 pm Hi Anniemoo ive joined the homeone forum instead of just stalking it! Maggiemac we are also biulding in eden beach still waiting on drawings and prestart tho. we signed up in november and got titles in feb Re: My First Home - Jindalee - I have a tap!!! 14Jul 13, 2014 11:42 pm I've been a bit quiet on the HomeOne front lately - work has just been crazy busy!!! Luckily that also means I've had a few developments... Prestart has come and gone and was very successful!!! I managed to get almost everything I wanted and still came in under budget. My extreme organisation plus having an excellent Prestart consultant meant I was done in about 2 and a half hours! Settlement occurred in June - so I am officially a land owner! I have selected my window coverings. I ended up upgrading to roller blinds throughout the house. I will be keeping verticals in the laundry, this is where my dog sleeps and she'll probably wreck the roller blinds! Shire approval happened last week, which means I am now officially in the construction phase. Site works will happen over the next few weeks and then the slab should go down. And lastly, I have a tap!
