Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First Time Builder - Planning Stage 21Jun 26, 2013 6:42 pm Another one for the laundry door being hinged We have insisted that our windows be the sizes of ready to hang window coverings, so 90, 120, 150, 180 or 210 (and the doors) Not being engineers and me being brilliant at changing things all the time will mean we can pop into bunnings/spotlight/ IKEA/ whatever and grab a different window covering without having to pay to have it custom made. I LOVE the bench. It is exactly what I want in my kitchen/alfresco window. If you wanted, could you pull that LHS wall out another 50cm (except for bed 2) so it is under the eaves. Not being living areas, I think you are allowed only 1m to fence... if your brother is behind that fence, maybe ask if he signs a form, can you increase bed 2 as well? I am still new at this house stuff, Maybe I am wrong, talk to RedInk ______________________________________________________________________ Signed up Jan 2013........Almost done! I'm feeling very excited and fortunate that I'm able to build a house in the first place! Now I have a bit of a mission for someone. Can anyone identify these external colours? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the Amari Dale Alcock Display Home in Eaton. Of course I could drive down there and ask for myself, but it's also 2 hours away... :/ The only thing I know is that the roof tiles are Bristle Vienna Profile from the Valley Essentials collection. I think the colour is either Cocoa or Truffle. If anyone knows what these colours are please let me know because I fully intend to use them for my home! You are my favourite person in the world right now :D:D:D Thank you so much. Now I have to stop myself from tapping into that vast fountain of knowledge! That being said, you wouldn't happen to know how much liquid limestone is per square metre...? Re: Redink First Time Builder - Pre Pre-Start Preparation! 29Jul 02, 2013 6:32 pm hahaha no worries we had a quote of $60/m2 for 100mm thick liquid limestone for our driveway, Im thinking it would be cheaper for pathways cause it doesn't need to be as thick? This price is after handover too...we were better off deleting our driveway and crossover from the redink contract Re: Redink First Time Builder - Pre Pre-Start Preparation! 30Jul 15, 2013 1:19 pm Am liking your plan so far, I am also building with Redink but haven't started my own thread yet but thinking I will soon as am loving everyone else's ideas so may get some good pointers also! Lol we live in Mandurah and drive to Alkimos to see the Madison display that we are basing our elevation and all interior selections and colours on nearly every Sunday.. It's costing a lot in fuel atm! This housebuilding business makes you do crazy things! Thanks! Checked out display home again over the weekend. Got a few more ideas. Next weekend I'll hit Osborne Park to look at materials. I have an appointment with bank next week, so hopefully finance will finally get sorted and I can progress to the next stage! Hi PanRaptor did you have any luck with the Amari colours? I am hoping to have the same colours on our house we are building with New Generation homes. Thanks Ash Re: Redink First Time Builder - Pre Pre-Start Preparation! 34Jul 23, 2013 11:06 pm Quote: Hi PanRaptor did you have any luck with the Amari colours? My best guess - I think the roof is Bristile Vienna Profile in Cocoa and the renders are possibly Evening Haze and Solver Mountain Ash. I think I'll just use this as the basis for my external colour scheme. I get an design consult as part of my deal with Redink, so I'll just show the designer the Amari and go from there. I like the idea of individualising the design. Hope that helps! Re: Redink First Time Builder - Pre Pre-Start Preparation! 36Jul 23, 2013 11:24 pm xxkatxx word of warning...don't show a pic of what you want to the interior designer...they won't get it right! figure it out beforehand...trust me!! You're going to make me drive all the way down to Eaton aren't you! Thanks for the tip. I plan on having most of my decisions made before I see the designer. I consider the consult as an affirmation of prior decisions. Well, that's what I'm hoping to do anyway Re: Redink First Time Builder - Pre Pre-Start Preparation! 37Jul 23, 2013 11:29 pm Yeah we emailed our builder to find out the colours and they didn't know. We ended up tracking down the design company that fit out and designed the display we liked and got a spreadsheet from them that itemizes every thing from render to paint colour to carpet brand and colour. Some things we had right and some things we were way off. Our home building & decorating blog - http://www.rocknsoul.com.au/blog Re: Redink First Time Builder - Pre Pre-Start Preparation! 38Jul 23, 2013 11:31 pm Yep that's what you should use the interior design consult for We made the mistake of leaving some decisions until that consult and boy did we regret it....much better to pick everything and then have the consult to say yep this all works or have them suggest something that would tie it all in together better. Send a PM to the people I mentioned above might save you a drive! I will have to look into it We have gone for a colourbond roof so may have to go with Woodland Grey because Jasper will be too brownish. I live 10 mins away from the display in Eaton so I will go check it out on the weekend we only saw it on their website yesterday and really liked it hope it looks just as good in real life! Re: Redink First Time Builder - Pre Pre-Start Preparation! 40Aug 19, 2013 9:51 pm Hello all, I've just come back from a lovely holiday in New Zealand - Queenstown is amazing, I highly recommend it. It's simply beautiful and beyond picturesque! Things have been quiet on the house front. Pre-approval has been granted in the first instance, so now comes the tedious six week wait for the plans to be drafted. I'm an engineer, I could do it quicker myself! The plan itself has changed a bit from the first post (see below). I'm still thinking of little things to tweak, but part of me thinks I should stop spending money! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The main idea I'm tossing up with is the placement of a gas fireplace in the wall between the two windows in the living/dining area. I pretty much know how my furniture will be laid out, so I think it would work. I might even make this section of the wall stick out a bit, like a reverse niche. Over the next few weekends I'll be hitting the tile/floorboard/paint/window furnishing showrooms. It's time to put aside my fears (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=66255) and make some decisions!
