And the little highlight windows look great. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour- Colorbond Part the 1st & Re 282Jan 16, 2014 10:52 pm Looking good and safe from golf balls Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour- Colorbond Part the 1st & Re 283Jan 16, 2014 10:57 pm Cheers Bradster. It came as a bit of a surprise. Drove past on the way home from work and the roofers were just finishing off. By the time we'd gone back with the camera, they were gone. Hopefully they don't allow golfers as bad as me on there and our windows will be fine. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour- Colorbond Part the 1st & Re 284Jan 16, 2014 10:59 pm I love that golf course Had some good rounds there, probably makes the place even nicer Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour- Colorbond Part the 1st & Re 286Jan 19, 2014 6:27 pm Cheers rj40. The fascia, eaves and gutter has been painted now so it looks better still. The wooden posts on the balcony have been undercoated too. Hoping it's undercoat anyway, it's very thin and flat and there's a couple of places that need filling before gloss goes on. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour- Colorbond Part the 1st & Re 287Jan 19, 2014 7:22 pm Your build is looking great oncewerefurriers! Definitely very jealous of your beautiful view - that balcony will definitely be put to good use! Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour- Colorbond Part the 1st & Re 288Jan 19, 2014 7:32 pm Thanks dee. We intend to, single-handedly (well double-handedly), keep the WA wine trade afloat watching sunsets from the balcony. Most people on Homeone would probably be happy to see their acrylic render topcoat go on. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ However, when the render is supposed to be Dulux Domino it's not so good. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I e-mailed some photos this morning and got a call from the liaison. Apparently Dulux don't do Domino acratex. The story goes that they'd had a problem mixing it up and couldn't get it dark enough. However, in the site skip we found this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Now you can call me cynical but if it looks like a duck..... http://m.dulux.com.au/trade/colour/p/PG1/255185/monk and quacks like a duck...... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ (The wood work is Monument which is very similar to Domino) It was suggested that we may have to choose a different colour, which isn't an option we're keen on at this late stage. Acrashield protective topcoat is potentially another option but apparently Dulux told the liaison that it's not available in Domino (which is strange since one of the Acrashield base colours is black). The SS is looking at a solution so let's see what tomorrow brings. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour- Render Colour Problems 292Jan 23, 2014 12:58 am Argh that's annoying! The colour really doesn't match your swatch at all! We don't have render and I am pleased - it seems like such a hard decision! Domino is am lovely colour so I hope you can get close to what you wanted! Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour- Render Colour Problems 293Jan 23, 2014 1:14 am Cheers asj. You're right, it's very disappointing. The whole colour-scheme of the house is based on black and white so don't know what we'll do if it's not sorted out. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour- Render Colour Problems 294Jan 23, 2014 2:34 am Quack quack at least they could of tried better to hide the evidence lol seriously that colour is nothing like domino!!! Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour- Render Colour Problems 296Jan 23, 2014 9:30 am We have painted render so it can be any colour. Can they not just paint over it?? Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour- Render Colour Problems 297Jan 23, 2014 6:59 pm We have acrylic render which has the colour all through it rather than traditional render which is painted over. You, technically, can't paint over Acratex but Acrashield is a protective paint-on membrane that can be put over it. Dulux apparently don't do Coventry Coarse Acratex (our render texture) or Acrashield in Domino. However, there is good news. We had an e-mail from the liaison and bumped into the SS today. They explained the situation: Dulux won't make Coventry Coarse in Domino but they said the Hadrian Sand-finish texture acrylic can be pigmented up to match Domino. The renderer mixed up some Coventry Coarse in a dark grey (which looked like Monk ) so when the Hadrian Sand-finish (in Domino) goes on it will completely cover the base coat and won't go patchy. Our feature render on the front is also Domino so we will be having the same there. So, not only do we get colour contrast, we also get texture contrast too! (Not that it will be noticeable unless you get up close) In hindsight, had we known Dulux didn't do Domino we could have chosen a different colour. There's a colour called Monk which looks quite nice............ Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour- Render Colour - Solved 299Feb 01, 2014 1:44 am I had a quick look at your house while I was out there today. Very nice. I am not a fan of dark houses so I hope you realize that me saying it looks great must be the same as a fan of dark houses standing out the front drooling unable to take his eyes off it. The contrast of your house in that area is brilliant and it stands out in all the right ways, well done, I am a fan. (even if it is not quite the colour you want I see where your going with it) Hope your build goes well Builder - Aveling Homes Type - Luxury collection 4x3 Design - Chicago My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64958&p=1024362#p1024362 Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour- Render Colour - Solved 300Feb 01, 2014 2:05 am Cheers slayer. It's only the upper storey (and a bit of feature on the front) that is dark. The colour it currently is, is really bad with the hint of purple it throws off. Hopefully it will look much better when it's the correct colour. There is some method behind our madness with the dark upper storey. The upper storey looks a bit ungainly from some angles so the render, being the same colour as the colorbond, should disappear into the roof line a little. The majority of the ground floor is Lexicon, so quite a bright, almost stark, white which will give us a big contrast. I think the proposal that a supply and demand curve are a natural law are well exaggerated. Wages never seem to follow this curve, and also prices for supply are sticky… 18 19116 Go to an actual paint store, not bunnings. Dulux even have trade centers.
