Re: First Home builders with Fairmont Homes 29May 11, 2013 2:40 pm Well we decided in the end to change our front door to the timber one with the translucent glass inserts, it was a few hundred more but i'm really happy with the choice now, especially to let that bit more light come through the entrance. We are in our 7th week at council, and it is dragging on rang council again on friday and hopefully should have final approval by the end of this week coming! Then hopefully a matter of weeks before we start! Re: First Home builders with Fairmont Homes 30May 16, 2013 7:12 pm Which council are you dealing with? I hope you get approval soon! Re: First Home builders with Fairmont Homes 31May 16, 2013 7:31 pm Hi, love your choices so far. we have gone for grey/brown tones and we have chosen the same shower head for the ensuite...I love the rain heads with the hand held attachment (great for washing the dogs too!!!) Re: First Home builders with Fairmont Homes 32May 16, 2013 11:26 pm FairmontSAcustom Which council are you dealing with? I hope you get approval soon! We are with the Onkaparinga council, have been on the phone back and forth all week between Fairmont Planning and council, but looks like we should hear back either tomorrow or next week with a verdict! Hanging out! Everyone has different stories with council, spoke to someone the other day that got approved in 2 weeks with the Marion council! When we signed our contract with fairmont we received a "promotion of the month" which was a Bonaire ducted evaporative cooling system (7 outlet, SBM 65). Problem is i'm assuming its just cooling and no heating(not being a reverse cycle unit). We are now stuck as to wether to scrap this unit and get reverse cycle or find a different heating alternative, preferably to heat every room in the house. Can anyone recommend any thoughts/ideas/experiences?? feeling like we've overlooked this part of the build so far.... Re: First Home builders with Fairmont Homes 36May 22, 2013 11:36 pm Perhaps check your Fairmont quote again because they can also do ducted gas heating and may have included it. I think it is the cheapest option for running, to have the ducted evaporative and ducted gas heating. My parents put that combination in their house 2 years ago, and it has been very economical, and I have it being done by Fairmont on my build. The ducted gas system sounds great and cheap to run, will definitely look into that more too! Re: First Home builders with Fairmont Homes 38May 23, 2013 12:17 am When we signed in March we got a reverse cycle unit thrown in free. The system is worth about 12. Grand. When did you sign? Re: First Home builders with Fairmont Homes 39May 23, 2013 12:50 am We got our reverse cycle unit thrown in free too by Fairmonts... I was told at the time if i wanted to do it after handover they would credit us 12k, I priced the same model at a manix store and it came back just a bit over 17k so we stayed with them doing it... We signed around August last year. Re: First Home builders with Fairmont Homes 40May 23, 2013 1:40 am I am not sure if you would be able to change it now but we signed at the same time as the deal with the free aircon was running and they credited us the cost of that and switched it to reverse cycle and it cost next to nothing in comparison to what it would cost to put reverse cycle in.
