And surprise surprise later on when i walked past and rubbed against it accidentally iv discovered they aren't even sanded properly, all rough and the varnish isn't covering the whole door... They left the hinges on that had been painted white so when the doors are open they look ridiculous (another thing we didn't notice until after) , and i still am waiting for the supervisor to come fix my chunk out of my garage door and internal door... Really over it all can't wait to just not have to deal with them anymore now........ All I can say to others coming towards the end of their build with them is to take all the time in the world to go thru the house on final inspection and don't take their 'word' for it that they are going to fix things in the first pci, make sure it's written down on the list even to little things.... We have learnt this the hard way - I still love our new home just let down by this last phase of the building and the finishing off. Goodluck to all the rest of you with your builds x My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63673 Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 223Sep 21, 2013 9:02 am Aaaah, yes. I think I will pm you later when my busy day is over. Sending hugz and a lot of understanding. X Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 224Sep 21, 2013 10:44 am Oh No, that certainly doesn't sound good I hope they fix it up ASAP!!! I really, really feel for you I just had a shi.tty paint job by one of Aveling's painters too, so I know just how you feel. They still have to fix all of your bits, but I understand you can't wait for it to be over and to move on from the whole experience and just start living without all the stress. It isn't much to ask. I initially said I would recommend Aveling but now I think otherwise especially after all this and all the poor finishes to our house that we r noticing now we are actually beginning to take notice of them... Aghh ohwell! My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63673 Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 227Sep 22, 2013 10:37 am Newby I'm exactly in your space and completely understand. I soooo wanted to be able to recommend them but the finishes just 'forbid' me to do so. The paint job is atrocious, our door frames and doors look and feel awful. I will mention it at maintenance time 'again' but I doubt it will be done. I just know that even me being total untrained would have done a far better job. Oh and then there's the rest!! Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 228Sep 23, 2013 9:59 am Hearing u SB ... disappointing is an understatement ... How's the plumbing? Fixed? Still waiting on things to be fixed ... Really not happy with Aveling... Finishing off is pathetic. But ah well... Just shot off an email today actually. You will get to a point where you won't care anymore and will take things into your own hands. Very curious at this stage to find out how others have gone with their 6 maintenance check. I'd love to have everything re-sanded and re-painted inside and out, what are my chances? haha. Hang in there newby, things will get there slowly and the anger and disappointment will subside. 9 weeks down and my 'newborn' isn't giving me too many sleepless nights anymore. Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 233Oct 08, 2013 9:07 pm Tomorrow I'm calling them And I feel sorry for the person on the other end! Everyone has even said to us that's seen our house how bad the tiling and finishing off is. It's disappointing when others are noticing it - I wouldn't mind if it was just me that noticed .... We have just noticed our laundry door (the bit you step over/frame) is wobbling and isn't even secured. They will probably tell me they won't fix that either. We called them Friday and they were calling us bk. still nothing (this is after chasing them up for two nearly three weeks..) ... But apparently 'we won't forget you even after today' from the big man himself... I won't say anymore about it on here because I don't want others to get disheartened .. But I just feel frustrated.. Sorry My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63673 Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 234Oct 23, 2013 11:29 am How have you been going with your Aveling fixes, Newby? Promising to call back and they never do .. But ah well... A little over it now... If I don't have to deal with them again after they fix everything I will be happy My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63673 Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 238Oct 23, 2013 4:26 pm Hmmmm, that's definitely not good enough. I might have to try to make sure they fix everything before handover... though that's going to be easier said than done as we have a date we need to move in due to our current house settling and the new owners wanting to move in - Aveling kind of have the power. Here's hoping there's not too much that needs fixing *crosses fingers* Our SS is Ryan - he seems to be pretty good. Was he your SS too? He was .. 1. Make sure EVERYTHiNG you want fixing is written down on that piece of paper at the PCI - I mean everything - don't go on their word that they will sort it out or look at it and sort it out, we got burnt by trusting that they will do it without needing it written down (when it comes to the last inspection they won't do anything about it cos its not written down) 2. Wait til they have fixed everything before u sign off (like us you will be waiting for months for it to be done!) just some advice ... My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63673 Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 240Oct 23, 2013 5:59 pm Ok, duly noted.
