Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Boutique Homes 1203May 13, 2015 11:58 pm Donaldouk Theon thanks for that, I will pop in on sat to do some measurement. If I remember correctly with the Capri, the shower door is very close to the sink. Our Oslo shower door was also close to the vanity and we had no issue adding the niche so good luck. You should be fine. Re: Boutique Homes 1204May 14, 2015 9:06 am Theon I was initially in Bush Fire prone area until it got rezoned and then I saved $5k. This could well happen to you as well by the time you build which looks to be 6 months away? That's a good point. Might try and insert that into the PWC and contract down the line. When you look at the LandVic website the bushfire zone borders stages 1 thru 4 and some of 5 and 6. It will be inevitable that it will get rezoned once further development occurs. The neiche was never in upgrades i had to ask for it but i had looked at alot of bathroom mags and had to do it. Previously at my old home i had a glass shelf.. didnt seem to hold much and took space up in the shower.. so if you are worried about room think of the space shelf sticking out will leave ypu with? I did it in both ensuite shower and in the bathroom. Was very much worth it i believe as you can see we can fit so much in there. Just make sure you check as they do it as ours seems ti be deeper in at one end than the other which we didnt pick up till tilling but we were happy to live with it. But just a heads up. I think it looks alot neater and more modern... but its a personal choice i guess. I would have to say the sooner you tell them the better you dont want to incur the 500 fee for changes. Re: Boutique Homes 1206May 14, 2015 11:43 am @Donaldouk - We added bulk heads in our living (TV Wall) on our colour selections day & they did not charge us any extra other than the bulk head charges. Though it's a structural change it doesn't affect any existing walls, that might be reason we got it done without any extra charges. @PetaJ - Your house looks brilliant. You have done a great job with decorating. We have the exact same flooring and were not sure with furniture colours & theme that would match. After looking at yours we are getting more ideas. Awesome stuff. Thank you so much for the pics. Also we are happy that your flooring is getting fixed now & you are atleast getting half of the charges shared. We took our driveaway off from the contract & after your experience we are kind of concerned as well. Any heads up for us? Re: Boutique Homes 1207May 14, 2015 11:49 am Hi sanjay thank you!!! Thesw floors are amazing and actually boutique are now covering all payment for it as they did not have a weather seal. My advice would be make sure you have a weather seal on front door. And make sure someone is home when during your driveway so if anywater comes in you are able to get on it right away. These boards do not like water!! We never mop or anything on our floors as per instructions we use a mop that you dont use water with. Thank you for your complements on our home. I do love to interior design and its important i think to have a style that flows. Its been a joy to decorate our home and i am sure you guys will have a blast doing the same. Glad my photos have been of help Re: Boutique Homes 1208May 14, 2015 11:59 am Theon did you change the direction how your door swing open. (Away from the vanity) at the moment in the show room the door hit the vanity and only stopped by a little gel stopper. That look great PetaJ. We are having a double shower too so the size of your niche looks perfect. I have contacted my consultant. Thanks for the tip sanjaybasavataj. Will have to see what the consultant reply back. Re: Boutique Homes 1209May 14, 2015 9:45 pm Donaldouk I didn't change the shower door at all. Pretty much just whacked in the shower niche. Because the shower door sits in the middle of the shower, you'd have to open the door 110deg before it'll start hitting the vanity cabinets so it should be safe. Display home has it that way as well but without the niche which is only 9cm further out. Re: Boutique Homes 1210May 16, 2015 11:28 am Hate to vent on here but we are actually furious... so u all know the story of our front entry being flooded and boutique eventually said they will replace the boards so thats awesome of them. We have noticed and been pretty unhappy with our boards making cracking snap sounds. And u can see some of them stick up not sitting flush or have marks on them like they have been banged in. Utf the flooring company came out a few weeks ago to quote the front for boutique and we told them about the other boards and he said its normal yadayada... then today our floors problem areas were ment to be replaced... we were told to get to a particular board they need to lift up half the boards and thats fine. We got up early to get it all sorted. They come in and say they arent doing it.. said they're is gaps in the slab so the bords srent sitting flush and they need to put cement in and they dont hsve any with them!!! I did see these little holes when house was first built but was told they get filled before floaring goes in and will be fine... maybe with carpet over the top but these utf guys were obviously meant to do it and have done a **** job. We asked them kindly could they atleast do the front section for now thats water damaged... it seemed like they didnt want to work.. they said.. no.. its the same up there so ul have to call and re book... when i saix our builders said you would fix that today.. he said ahh builders they promise u the world and dont deliver... dont shoot the messanger call and re book... so needless to say my husband and i where verrrry peed off after they left. I txted our ss who is awesome but unfortunately has to cop the brunt of these **** trades.. and told him the situation i am hopimg he calls me monday. I am to the point of telling him to rip these boards up and get someone to tile it... its not what i wanted but these boards have too many problems. I know some of u have our floor or one like it going in... to save u fron having to lift and move around all your furniture i urge you to have a proper look at them and walk around. I am not one of those fussy ppl i hate seeing people like that on forums.. but i am seriously sorry if anyone else has to deal with it. I think utf as a company seem slack and do rough jobs and i am extremely angry. We have all these other lil issues too like paint work.. cupboard in kichen not closing properly and silly lil things like one of our power points isnt flush when the others are... electrician has come 2 times now with the wrong one so who knows why... and cause my husband and i have used all anual leave i had my mother inlaw come down for all the little things to be fixed and 90% of the problems werent fixed... this is not a go on boutique they have been great and customer service even after handover has been great. But they need to whip the contractors cause i think they getting taken on the ride.. when i walked on these boards in the diaplay homes they werent snapping and cracking. Not to mention our seals one front door and internal garage door are both not working as cold air coming in and we are just pumping the heating. I am at a loss as we cant take any time off work and nothing seems to be getting fixed right... now with whats happening with the floors i am now so much more frustrated .. we have stickers and texta written on them that look **** and we thought that would be gone now. Rant over for now. Re: Boutique Homes 1211May 16, 2015 11:48 am Petaj I am so sorry to hear that the trades have done such a sh** job of the flooring and other items in general. I really feel for you as you will never forget about the creaking boards since finding out about them - I know I would be in the same boat. If I don't know a board creaks than it's fine, but if I step on a board and it creaks, I will always try to step on the same board to see if it still creaks. With floorboards, you usually have to use self-level to ensure the floors are straight and flat as the concrete slab is almost always uneven and that's to be expected as it's too hard for the concreters to pour as well as make it perfectly even. I was told by Boutique that if they were to do the floor boards that they will ensure the floor is even and use self-level which I would assume they would have done to your floors? Though your floors are not even which may suggest that it wasn't done? Re: Boutique Homes 1213May 16, 2015 12:02 pm Boutique are great its just these trades that *** fart around get slack n dont do what they say they will half the time. At the end of the day boutique are the customer service the glue putting it together and arranging things to be done.. that they are doimg but then the trades dont always do what was meant to be done and then boutique have to follow up. Our ss is amazing and has even called me back this morning on his day of to sort it out we couldnt be happier with him. He said he will get it all sorted so i am a little less stressed still annoyed at utf sub contractors though... our ss is meeting us after hours and going to go through it all so thats really good. Just frustrated want everything finished lol Re: Boutique Homes 1214May 16, 2015 12:03 pm For the led's and we wanted cool white but they say warm whites are default. My argument with them is we haven't been given a choice of either cool or warm and me and wife have health issues with the warm lights ( both get head aches) asked them to change but they are dragging saying its not on a paper work. I said I haven't even been offered cool white and its my right to get as i am paying for it and has not been offered the choice during consultations and also nothing mentioned in the paper work we got The manager is going to get back to us lets c i am waiting eagerly for mon as its the D DAY I WILL HAVE A SERIOUS FIGHT with them. Re: Boutique Homes 1215May 16, 2015 12:06 pm Ashoka thats not good my advice is not to fight though it wont get you anywhere and all you can do is let them know ur situation. Its at the electrical appointment you should have been given that option. Hope its sorted for u! Re: Boutique Homes 1216May 16, 2015 12:29 pm Fighting in the sense letting them know the situation and asking them to rectify it as its not mentioned to us at electricals before we get the possession .... Hope we don't have to go through your situation with floor boards as we also having them Re: Boutique Homes 1218May 18, 2015 12:14 pm PetaJ - Sorry to hear that you're having issues with your flooring I really do hope they will fix it and sort it out. We had issues with our flooring buckling as well and that was due to the tap behind the fridge we had installed leaked, but they fixed everything in the end which we're happy with. There were also gaps around certain areas that may have moved due to whatever reason and they were all fixed as well. I hope they will fix it soon for you. I haven't posted in here for a while.. time flies once you move in. We have had a few issues since moving in with some leaking which have been promptly fixed, but for those who have moved in - Has any one had any issues with the water going hot and cold during a shower? So we've been in for over 5 months now and we were generally using the ensuite shower at full pressure, just recently I've started to use it at a lower pressure to try and save some water and the water goes from hot for 2 min, cold for 1 min and hot again. Consistently going this way. I've been told that this is a common complaint and we must use the shower in a certain way where it always has to be at full pressure? Has anyone experienced this and I can't see this is something normal for a hot water system to behave this way, what happens when we have kids and they still have to have the shower at full pressure. I think this is a bit ridiculous to expect. Re: Boutique Homes 1219May 18, 2015 1:11 pm Hi fruitlubes good to hear they fixed the floors promptly for you. As for the hot water system we have been in a month and we have showers at full so hard to say. I have noticed it takes a few mins to heat up though o have to turn the tap on and lwt it run for a bit before i hop in. This also goes for the taps in bathrooms kitchen ect got to let the hot water run for a bit before it goes warm. 10 15677 Ask for references and speak to them.
