Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 201Apr 29, 2013 7:46 pm So, more action today. The driveway was fixed, the flyscreens were all installed, the hot water system went in, the first inspection happened (because there is green tape everywhere) and the kitchen appliances went in. When I swung by this afternoon after work the man was just changing the range hood to the correct one. Not too much to go now. The placement of the pavers makes a big difference. I was wondering did you get fly doors on your sliding door? Not long now Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 203Apr 29, 2013 8:15 pm Dearheart- Wow your driveway looks awesome!!! What a huge difference, good on you!!! So much happier. ohmistershefield25 I did get flyscreens on the sliding doors. The bottom picture actually shows the flyscreen on the back sliding door. I think it looks pretty good. I'm not sure why the appliances are in yet. The people around the corner (and most other people I know) didn't get them in until the very last day. I don't have a date for handover yet but since PCI hasn't happened I imagined it won't be for at least 3 weeks. Here's hoping nothing happens to them in the mean time. Yes, interesting that your appliances are in early. I'd ask your SS why. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 208May 04, 2013 5:22 pm So, it wasn't the busiest week, although things did still happen. The rangehood was finally swapped for the correct one (now just need the plasters and tilers to come back and do the fixtures around the new range), the handles went on the sliding doors, the fixable door in the media was changed to the correct one, the tyrells inspection happened, the other shower frame was installed, the kitchen cupboards were aligned correctly and the rubbish was taken away and the block cleaned a little. Not huge jobs but things that needed to happen. Still waiting to get that PCI date - surely it won't be too long now. Just a pic of the cleaned block and the main bathroom shower. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 210May 04, 2013 5:49 pm I know. I was worried there for a while when they had been discontinued and I thought that I may have to choose new tiles but I must have just squeezed in. DiLorenzo told me that they got all the Lindsey that was left secured for them and it was enough to cover everyone who had ordered it. I know there were a few people who were only a few weeks behind me in choosing their tiles and they weren't allowed to choose them. I was very lucky. The front looks good cleared - gives me more of an idea of what it will look like when its finished. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 211May 04, 2013 6:18 pm Having the front cleared definitely gives you an idea of how you can landscape the front. Our fence should be down now... They were coming today to pull it down... I'll have to drive out tomorrow and try and get a photo. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 212May 04, 2013 9:52 pm That's great. It will really start to fell real once you see that fence gone. How is the packing going? I'm lucky that I have a number of things already in boxes but I've spent days packing during the last school holidays to make it easier on myself when I finally get those keys. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 213May 06, 2013 3:56 pm Hi, Dearheart. Just a quick update from me. Had a look at our Lawson home and I am very happy with the carpet. http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag21/LLouise1234/null_zpsa5682905.png Our SS (who I forgot to bring some banana bread for) said council and Tyrell's were coming tomorrow to do their final checks. Next week we do our PCI and then the final touches are complete. Found out today I will need to get house insurance before the bank will let us settle. The bank also needs to do a valuation so don't leave that to the last minute to inform them as it could mean another two weeks delay. The bank also said they need to see the appliances in before they inspect so ill have to double check that one. I'm in the middle of organising a fence so our dogs can move in the same time we do. That will be interesting! I'm desperately waiting for our house to be painted at the front. I'm sick of looking at the foxtail colour (brown). It is meant to be pebble bay (white) with foxtail pillars. If the weather holds, it should be done by this weekend. Now that you've seen the inside of your home quite a few times, is there anything you would have changed? Louise Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 214May 06, 2013 4:21 pm Looks good Louise! Hmmm, is there anything I would change...only maybe get landscaping organized as part of the build... That part is giving me a headache... Trying to organize retaining, turfing, and then the gardens, as well as moving, and everything else needed doing at handover. I am pretty happy with the layout, inclusions and upgrades I got as part of my contract from EB. That's a hard one. Since I'm not living in the house yet its hard to say for sure but from what I've seen when I've been in the house and moving around, there's not really much that I would change. I would definitely add a skylight to the bathroom and get a slim line water tank but other that I wouldn't do want to change much at the moment. What about you?? I'm gad that your very happy with your carpet and that you will be having PCI soon. Hopefully, you will get your house soon. I am still waiting for a PCI date. I had Tyrrels go through last Monday so it can't be too long now, surely they must be getting close - not too sure what the holdup is. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 219May 08, 2013 6:38 pm I finally have a date for PCI! Next Monday. Only 5 days away - not too long to wait. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 220May 08, 2013 6:44 pm Woohoo!! Monday!!!! About bloody time, hopefully you won't have to wait the 2 weeks for handover... With appliances already in, and with Tyrell's already have done their report, there shouldn't be much to touch up. I wish you all the best Dearheart! Very exciting!
