Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 21Aug 09, 2012 11:39 pm According to MainVue step by step procedure brochure, it should only take 3-4 weeks from contract signing to site start. We'll see if that is true! Can't wait to see it happening! So far our progress has been by the book timing wise. Touch wood! Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 22Aug 14, 2012 11:16 pm 6-star energy requirement sucks!!! Luxury electrical package is still far behind what we wanted and much less in comparison with Display home. We're told that we can install more light after handover but it is illegal!! What does that mean? "can ..but illegal.. ? " what will happen if we do? Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 23Aug 15, 2012 7:21 am TTVA that is a really good price on the 40mm upgrades for all the benchtops in your house! We were looking at doing the full drop panels but coming in at 4.5k on the Amalfi has me thinking of just doing the 40mm. Also did you opt for refrigerated cooling? Our quote currently has a 14.9KW unit for a 28.33 square internal house - which seems somewhat underpowered to me, this came in at aprox $11k. Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 24Aug 15, 2012 9:10 pm Oh sorry that's all Benchtop EXCEPT kitchen as kitchen upgrade comes in packages! I wish ...hehe No we did not have refrigerated cooling. We will use split system in main areas. It's a 6 star energy rating house so we think it will be sufficient. Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 25Aug 15, 2012 9:13 pm Got contract document today .. Got 2 nights to read before contract signing!! Already found few mistakes ... though they should be easy fixes ... I hope! Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 26Aug 16, 2012 12:24 pm ttva No we did not have refrigerated cooling. We will use split system in main areas. It's a 6 star energy rating house so we think it will be sufficient. We built a 7 star energy rated double store house and it still wasn't enough to keep out the summer heat in Geelong. We didn't have any aircon. With the bedrooms being upstairs it made it really uncomfortable at night. Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 27Aug 16, 2012 9:48 pm Definitely need air con! Split system would be more cost effective than refridgerated ! Our electrical appointment went well today. A bit disappointed that they dont do ducted heating. We invested most downlights downstairs. More downlights to be installed after handover upstairs. Cost came to almost double the luxury elec upgrade. Mainly due to upgrade to led downlights to suit energy rating requirement. Also we include nearly 1k for home theatre prewiring. We are undecided about the National Broadband Network provision package. Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 28Aug 17, 2012 8:55 am By the way, downlights under bulkheads where there're overhead cupboards like the kitchen display homes are not offered as they say they witness it burned holes to the cupboards in some homes. Even if you choose to do so at your own risk, they would not do it. That was the disappointing part Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 29Aug 17, 2012 9:26 am TTVA, seems your process is going smoothly even not perfectly. We just signed our provisional quote and paid the second deposit. What do you mean "they dont do ducted heating"? We opt for zone controlled and upgrade to 5 star. The lights cost a fortune. You almost double the package but still need to do more after handover. We were only quoted the $1.3k Deluxe package so we prepare for a huge jump. Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 30Aug 17, 2012 6:24 pm We thought Argus does ducted heating for MainVue but they don't. Our initial quote has 5 star zoned heating but then confusingly another sale consultant told us that they can't offer that for double storey !?! Confusing!!! We thought we could enquire directly with Argus but they don't do heating Anyway, got our admin girl to check out that option today. Hopefully we can have it. Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 31Aug 17, 2012 10:12 pm ttva We are undecided about the National Broadband Network provision package. What price were you quoted for that? I think I will go with it if/when we decide who we will build with. currently we are considering the ER432 Rise. Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 32Aug 17, 2012 10:32 pm Yes Dana, be prepared for up to $10k if you want lighting same as displayed. We did add lots of power points in and out even near the roof for Christmas lighting as suggested in someone's post. I think I will go with it if/when we decide who we will build with. currently we are considering the ER432 Rise. It's approx $490. Although the NBN official web link suggested that they provide it for free. Search "national broadband" in this forum and you'll find some very useful info about it. Thanks to other forum members. We did add lots of power points in and out even near the roof for Christmas lighting as suggested in someone's post. We might say NO to those downlights cos they are so expensive. I can't justify how they charge more than $200 for one LED light installed. They make more money from those options. Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 36Aug 21, 2012 9:24 pm From memory it's about $8-9k ... don't quote me on it though! Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 37Aug 22, 2012 11:25 am Wondering if how hard "maintenance wise" to have downlights on the roof eaves to brighten up the top half of the house at front ... We have plenty of lights on the bottom half of the house (wall mounted at front porch and downlights in portico ceiling and above garage door). Thinking if the top half is lack of light (mainly for display purpose)... Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 38Aug 22, 2012 2:25 pm So disappointed ... demolition is not happening next week due to gas abolishment issue. The application form has wrong meter no. info and AGL said they could not get in touch with the agent number written on the form therefore they could not process and Vic Wide Demo doesn't know about it having any issue. Only found out by my gut-feeling that there may be some issue as i did not receive the receipt of job being booked like i did with Electricitiy Service Abolishment. I rang Vic Wide Demo asking them verify with AGL and my gut-feeling was true !!! It's been one month waiting .. now looking at possibly another month of waiting !! Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue..concerns..unknown c 39Aug 25, 2012 12:16 pm Hi ttva - they have great displays, but I am concern with the skimpy quote that i get upfront! I had another builder with full costings and even with the actual drawings of house that i am going to build upfront - no hiding even if they seem high. On the contrary with Mainvue, liked their wet areas and kitchen - but the kitchen & pantry as displayed appears to cost alot. Nevertheless, I asked for a quote and it was skimpy!. I was told I won't even get a copy of my plans till contract and alot of cost not known till contract and by then I would have been locked in with thousands which is not refundable at all!. Great if you could share your experience with pricing difference from quote to contract and also which consultant you were dealing with as I won't mind drive all the way if he/she is good! Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 40Aug 26, 2012 7:47 pm Hi bud, In my experience, I find both sale reps from Epping and S.C were really good. They do have dIfferent pros and cons. One can offer you things that others do not unless requested. S.C is very prompt with initial quotes and response. I was quIte Impressed. Lucky we have quotes from both office and it became really useful. We didn't have any issue with standard drawings provided during quotations. Their kitchen as standard is already an upgrade to other builders. Yes, as displayed is a bit over the top with cost especially the pantry. Our initial quote was about $20k difference as we didn't account for various upgrades with colour selection and some electrical components. Good luck with your home shopping! I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 46279 Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed.
