I guess its the downfall of building with Bazdaric Homes as they dont have an interior design team to help you out with your selections.

Its the first home we have ever built or even painted so the colour selection was pretty scarey. We ended up with 55 saple paint pots before we finally came to the decision on what colours to use.

Dan and Dani from The Block decided our bedroom colours and our kitchen decided on the rest of the house being white ;)

You did good to manage it without an interior designer! I went in with very definite decisions on what I wanted, but there were still heaps of things where I was asking for her opinion or advice.

55 sample pots - classic! And I thought we were bad at 4... Colour selection is definitely the worst, we took a big piece of mdf painting in our chosen colour and it still didn't help much - so much impacts on colour: light, time of day, other furnishing etc etc. I guess we just need to keep our fingers crossed that at the end of the day it looks ok!

So I just went and stalked your thread to see if you had your colours there, I flippin' LOVE your house! Gorgeous (or whatever the boy equivalent is) and you are so close to being done

Did you go the pebble colour for your walls? I am another big fan of grey! I can't wait to see your kitchen also.

Sorry for the late reply, had the fortnightly shop this arvo and then had to get tickets for the footy tomorrow.

We were quite happy with the finished product these builders provided, no major problems just the odd little hiccup to give you the tom t!ts but nobody is perfect and would use them again.

I would love to build once more but it would have to be closer to the water and we don’t have a spare million plus growing on the tree outside.

I almost lost my sanity in the process but it should look good once its done. Hell if it doesn't i am sure it wont be too hard to repaint lol

We also have boards we painted, about 8 of them lol We looked at so many colours and as you said the same colour can look so different. We ended up going with Camel Train for the render, vivid white for the main areas of the house, Tranquil Retreat in the bedrooms, Western Myall for the walls of the media and half strength on the ceiling and skirting boards/window architraves. All skirting boards and architraves are vivid white semi gloss

Kitchen should be ready for pics next weekend though i am sure a lot of people may know what direction we went in anyway.

The painters were there today staining some of four doors and they reckon they will have the first coat on the whole house by next weekend which will be great :)

Thanks for the compliments, if your ever around Bingara Gorge you wont have much trouble finding it ;)

So glad to have found your thread, as we are in the early stages of building a Jamberoo through Barringtons in Nowra Hill on 5 acres. Until now we thought we were the only ones to build it as we could not find anything online. We are just waiting for our plans to be drawn up, but was initially pleased that most of the changes we requested were done without charge. Am new to this forum so am still trying to figure out how to post pics. ::cool::

Hi Grumblebum and Otoole33, VERY glad to find others who have used/are using the same builder! Thanks heaps for the reassurance Grumblebum, what design did you build? I can only find a few pics through stalking your posts (I love the Bleaches wall colour btw - wish I had seen it sooner!). Kiwi - I have perfect faith it will be fab, fab, fab!

Otoole, we felt the same when we first chose them - why, oh why was there no feedback about this builder at all, anywhere?! We did find 2 Jamberoos at Shoalhaven Heads (one Highlander facade =P~ and a homestead facade) and apparently there is one nearish us but it has been modified so much it is unrecognisable :) . They also mentioned they are trying to squeeze the Jamberoo onto a Renwick block for a display home! Not because they expect to sell it there, but so they have a display home in the Highlands.
You are really close to the same stage as us - probably will be done before us the way we are going. We got our final plans over 2 weeks ago to find that there were modifications written into our tender that were not on them :( we are STILL waiting to get our "new" final plans. We did do some other little changes, like remove a window here, add a window there, but very simple really and only a few. So I am starting to get a little cross, when we rang last week we were told we were bumped for another build - I have told my DH we need to stop being so nice! Would be great to see your plans and see the changes we all make :)

Brad I am going to have to go snooping - we have been out to Bingara Gorge a few times, but I wouldn't have known what I was looking at, I just know that I loved soooo many of the houses there! Btw - where are your kitchen pics?!? :P

What is the easiest easy to get images onto this forum? Once I work it out I will get our plans put on. We received them today but like you there are a few errors that need to be looked at. Only minor ones.

I use http://photobucket.com/ (it is a free account). After you upload photos there and it gives you the img code to copy into posts here.

I was just looking at your plan and realised they have put your shower niches at the same height they had ours originally-900mm FFL.

This may be OK with you but my hubby is 6' tall and we changed ours to 1300mm FFL.

If you have doubts I would suggest you stand in your current shower and measure 900mm up from the floor and if not satisfactory choose the height where you would like them to be and email them so the change can be made on the plan you're waiting for.

Thanks Grumbles! I have got hubby onto it - it might be ok for the main bath, but you are completely right, for an ensuite it is too low!

The kitchen gets the stone fitted tomorrow then i guess they measure up for the splashback. Once its all fitted up i will get some :o)

When do they start building your place?

Hi Loretta, lovely to meet you! My SIL is getting married at the Gibraltar - it is beautiful overlooking the golf course. I was super excited by the change of seasons this year - we only moved to the highlands this year (my DH was from here) and it was the first time I had really seen Autumn! Now I am waiting for all the tulips to come up :) Thanks for your compliments!

Brad we will be a few Saturdays away at this point! Big plans between soccer and IKEA (SUPER excited!).

We are still waiting to get our final plans back and it has been 2 1/2 weeks (for only a few minor changes) so I am despairing that it will be December by the time we get through council (they are known to be tricky)! :( No, all things working with us, we should see movement by October.

Here is the floor plans as they stand at the moment. Changes still to be done are a double sided fireplace between the Family room and the rumpus. We are still waiting for the final tender, have been told this week. Did you go solar panels by any chance and also what water heating have you decided on. we are looking at environmentally friendly ideas but are not getting much info out of the builders.

Haha I'm such an idiot, I looked without reading and went "ooh, it's just like ours!"

O'toole it is great! :z: :z: The two way fire is going to be wonderful - was it $$$$? Is it the Highlands facade? I LOVE that! I like how you extended out the wardrobes (I am plotting out how I could achieve this without it delaying our final plans  ) and bumped out both bedrooms to make them HUGE. And bed 2 will become a study or guest room?

We are getting solar panels - we have a PA in our final tender for them and have had a few external quotes, but B has told us they are currently working out a deal with a CSR company so hopefully they can give us a quote on them shortly. I would prefer to have it arranged through them rather than have others come in. We have an instantaneous gas hot water system - everyone is on natural gas here - although I can see us adding a solar panel booster to this in a few years. We have so much roof space and the back of our house is North facing so we may as well make us of it! The only bummer to this is that we don't really want to add an alfresco at the back, since it will block so much of the nice winter sun into our living room, we will add a pergola after we are in.

Hope there are no surprises in your final tender this week!

Bed 3 has a full length wardrobe. We combined the 2 wardrobes in bed 2 and 3 into a bigger one for bed 3. Bed 2 will be study/guest.

Kelbelle
Yes it is the Highlander. It seamed to make sense to make the 2 bedrooms as large as possible as our 2 kids are getting older. B have told us that a 5kw Solar panel would be 15k+. Solar hot water with gas booster 3.5K.
The two way fire is going to be around 4.5k. We just need to get B to design the wall to suit, otherwise it will be a post build installation. Which would not be the best. What size water tank are you going for?
