Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 12, 2013 11:18 am Hi everyone, Just curious if anyone else here is building at the California Creek Estate at Cornubia in QLD. I know the land is still being cleared and won't go to council until April but most of the blocks have been ticked off and surely someone out there has one besides us. My wife and I have put a deposit on our block here and are still at early plans/builders stage with lots of dreams on paper but nothing official. Re: QLD - California Creek Estate at Cornubia - Anyone?????? 4Mar 25, 2013 6:16 pm Hi all We've bought in there too. Has anyone else noticed the "dog" clause that says they must be enclosed in a building between 6pm to 6am if over 7kg (due to koalas) The developer's solicitor advises that this is only if the yard is not fully fenced, but that's not how I read it. Shall call council tomorrow to clarify. Cantwait03, are you in Stage 1 or 2 of the development (just checking that we haven't all been moved back)? We're in Stage 3 so not due for registration until October. Re: QLD - California Creek Estate at Cornubia - Anyone?????? 6Mar 26, 2013 4:23 pm Well, a call to Council was a painful experience to question the Dog clause. They wouldn't even put me through to Animal Management (they said I should post a copy of the contract to them to look at). After reading the contract for what must be the 10th time, the contract says that dogs are ok as long as in a fully fenced yard. The only time the Koala Report is referenced is when they define a Permitted or Prescribed dog. I've decided (in my infinite wisdom) that this means that they're ok as long as in a yard. We're currently doing the rounds of the builders. My head hurts Re: QLD - California Creek Estate at Cornubia - Anyone?????? 7Mar 29, 2013 2:31 pm We are in stage 1. We have one of the big 2040sq blocks and can't wait to start. I can assure you I have a big dog (German shepherd) and have spoken to head office and our legal rep and there is no issues. I think we are also looking at later this year for the go ahead. Things really slowed down with the wild weather we have had recently but every day saved means another inclusion my wife can add to our already stretched budget. Re: QLD - California Creek Estate at Cornubia - Anyone?????? 8Mar 30, 2013 8:13 am No fear of our dashchund jumping the fence (unless he enlists some assistance from our other dog or masters the art of trampolining!). Glad to hear that it's not an issue. Hoping to head to the Estate this morning and will see if I can get an update on the progress.! Re: QLD - California Creek Estate at Cornubia - Anyone?????? 10Apr 01, 2013 6:28 pm Oh no, hopefully the rock isn't too hard. We built a pool last year at shailer park and were worried about the rock but because it was easily broken up (shail) it didn't cost any more for the excavation. At least things are moving along! We are on lot 9 so I might go have a look. Re: QLD - California Creek Estate at Cornubia - Anyone?????? 12Apr 02, 2013 6:26 am Wow - sounds like it's all been delayed a bit then (wasn't stage 1 due to be registered in April?). Has anyone been allowed to get someone in to do a soil test? Would love to know what they found! Cantwait03, would you recommend your pool builder from your Shailer Park job? We're looking at pools etc at the moment for this new block. Re: QLD - California Creek Estate at Cornubia - Anyone?????? 14Apr 02, 2013 7:10 am Thanks cantwait03. We're in stage 3 so I dread to think when that will be ready (one can only assume that everything will be pushed back by about 4 months). Maybe mine will be ready this time, next year, if I'm lucky! Shall have a look at Sundollar (and I hope you find some nice shoes in your shoebox) Re: QLD - California Creek Estate at Cornubia - Anyone?????? 15Apr 02, 2013 7:54 am So we will be neighbours stepanna88. We also know your other neighbour on lot 11 and across the road at lot 28. I'm hoping it will be a family friendly neighbourhood as we have 2 small daughters. Have they done the retaining wall yet? I haven't been out to the block in a few weeks and last time I was there it hadn't changed in about a month. Re: QLD - California Creek Estate at Cornubia - Anyone?????? 17Apr 02, 2013 9:07 am I've worked in construction for many years and used to get annoyed with clients that would complain about hold ups with the rain but now I've turned in to one of those people.... cant blame us though. We have a 15 month old and a 3 year old and they are going crazy being trapped in this tiny place but we just came back from 5 glorious nights at Golden beach so its eased the tension a little. My husband is over the wait and wants to buy an established home but I've come too far now to do that. It will all be worth it in the end! The neighbour on lot 11 has 4 kids (ranging from about 10 to toddler) and over the road at lot 28 has 3 young kids from about 1 to 6. We've been very lucky with neighbours in the past and it was a gamble moving into somewhere new where you don't know the type of people living around you but I have a good feeling about the estate and at the end of the day you can always build a nice big fence Talking about trees, we have some big trees at the back of our block... I hope they fell over. Re: QLD - California Creek Estate at Cornubia - Anyone?????? 19Apr 03, 2013 3:30 pm We are on lot 6 with three kids aged 7 to 12. Definitely no more for us!!!! Nice to see that there are families in that little corner with lots of kids to keep everyone entertained. Now, if I could just decide on a builder........ Re: QLD - California Creek Estate at Cornubia - Anyone?????? 20Apr 03, 2013 6:48 pm I ran into lot 28 at the shops today and they have pulled out, so that's 3 kids less. Yogybear you should have a chat to Barry at Newstart. I went to see 3 of the top builders and 2 other independent builders and found Barry so helpful. Hi all. Anyone know when the $11,000 limit was set in legislation for renovations in QLD? Ive been renovating for 5 years now and this was the limit back then. As we know,… 0 4827 Hi, I contracted a Builder to do a Garage to Bedroom + ensuite conversion (Class 1a), the Builder engaged the Certifier and Engineer and received BDA from the Certifier… 0 5672 We used a smaller qld builder who went bankrupt about 12 months after completion of ours. It was a shame as they were good and relatively cheap and I would have used… 3 5763 |
