Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 19, 2012 10:21 am Hi all, after lurking for a while and asking a zillion questions both on this forum and to builders I have finally decided upon a plan and builder! I am currently at building contract stage - our developer is asking for our finance approval and our bank can not do that until at least our building contract has been completed (Keystart home loans) Our land is due to title on the 22nd of May - in Avonlee Estate, Perth WA. Heres our plans - it is a custom floor plan and the house is sitting at 201.34 sqm, but including the garage and alfresco it totals 254sqm. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Please let me know what you guys think! Hopefully it all goes smoothly for us, our contract is due to be complete by tomorrow and signed for on Monday. Have to put my thinking cap on and start thinking about prestart too. Still unsure of the exterior colours, I am thinking a beige/mustardy main render with a black feature wall and black roof - just to stay away from the grey/white tones that seem to be going up everywhere. Afraid of the house heating up however. What are your thoughts guys? This is our first house so was really hesitant going in there to sign it, but I trust the guy over at goodlife and our contact at Keystart to pick up on anything that seems out of the ordinary. Hopefully Keystart can assess this and have an answer next week! Re: Daedalus Build Thread - Contract Stage (Floorplan upload 4Apr 20, 2012 11:48 am Hi Nayzv, Thanks I am a big fan of the plan although ideally I would have liked the "games room" towards the end of the house - it just didnt look too good when we tried that as it was too wide. Oooh choosing colours will be a nightmare! It is so hard to visualize how everythign will work together. Our builder offers a colour consultant to help with the process hopefully they can provide some good feedback! Thanks for your well wishes Nayzv its great to have the support of people on this forum through this process Oct 10 - Council Approval Oct 23 - Site scrape Oct 29 - Footings and Prelay OCT 30 - Slabbed Nov 6 - Bricks Delivered Nov 13 - Brickwork started Re: Daedalus Build Thread - Contract Stage (Floorplan upload 5Apr 20, 2012 12:04 pm Welcome to H1! Thats a great plan ... you've squeezed so much into it yet it's not at all squishy ... the double front doors look pretty snazzy ... don't stress about colours - start off with what you don't like and then see which ones you love .... good luck with your build - can't wait to see it all come together - exciting times ahead for you!! I liked the colours of the house you put up ... we went with Merino render, Jasper colorbond roof and wooden door and windows so pretty similar ... Not sure what that exactly means seeing as they have had the paperwork for a while now - I think the valuation is ordered once they are happy with the plans? You would think the valuation would be getting done when you hand everything in. I guess the banks arnt in as much of a hurry as we are? Our finance took ages to come through about 4 weeks and only in the last 3 days of that our valuation was done.goodluck! Re: Daedalus Goodlife Build Thread - Awaiting Formal Approva 12May 03, 2012 12:53 pm Oh jeez! Yeah we are hitting two weeks tomorrow. When we were promised one week max! I wish they'd just give us the news already so we can move on with our lives if they reject it...grrr. (It should have been lodged on Tuesday but I was told they forgot to?) Fingers crossed for a concrete answer on Monday, but was told we're about 99% of the way there! Have got my developer + builder on my back about the loan and I am trying my best to get the answer from Keystart. Our client support at Keystart has been great through all this despite the delays delays delays. We are building with Gemmill (the owner of Goodlife) and our meeting with the Colour Consultant was wonderful. Both Hubby and I have similar tastes - and we had already made an agreement that if one of us didnt like something that we moved on and it became a non issue immediately. Saving our energy on the things we did agree on Our Consultant was helpful as she knew if her stuff. She advised of supply issues and colours that where hard to match anything with later. She never once forced anything on us but made a heap of suggestions for both the external and internal colouring. She took the time to learn about our family and lifestyle and made suggestions based on that eg fingerprints on walls and tiles etc. They even had minuture bricks, roof tiles and guttering so we could see first hand what it looked like rather than a paper or computer generated image. Very Helpful. I look forward to watching your house progress.. Re: Daedalus Goodlife Build Thread - Awaiting Titles & Prest 20May 23, 2012 4:52 pm Thanks a lot Chant! Its great to hear your consult went well and that they provide you with a visual preview of what it may turn out like. I am still on the fence about grey/white toned house vs cream/dark tones !
