Update: Letter to the councillor has only been marginally successful so far. I had a response from him very promptly, he was quite surprised that it was taking this long...he also said that he was in the building industry himself, so was aware of the correct processes that should be taking place. He lodged an inquiry for me - I was supposed to receive a response late last week. Still haven't heard anything. Sent another email this morning - the councillor is getting right onto it, so I hope I hear something in the next 48 hours. DP called Planning last week....the surveying officer has been away sick. No one knew about our file because apparently it hadn't been tracked back to him, so it was 'missing'. It was in his in tray the whole time. Grrrr. No one else wants to do anything whilst he's not there.
After my complaint to the Aubin Grove Councillor about lack of record keeping skills, miraculously, the online system was updated...hmmmm. Not that it's anything really to get excited about, but here you go:

At least it's some [small] progress! - at the very least, you know that the moment you receive your construction letter, every single H1'er who has followed you through this will be jumping for joy!!
Good to see the councillor paid some attention. And how many people at CoC keep going on f*cking leave?? Is anyone EVER there? That's absolutely ridiculous that no one follows up on a fellow staff member's jobs when they're away - does the world stop for them or something?
Sorry to hear you feel a bit blah about it all.... Mansion kitty house? Can Jen and I come with our cats too?

I think I already live in a cat mansion - and my ragdoll is the indisputable Queen!
I've logged onto CoC Planning online again, just before I leave work for the day....there are a few new entries under the application's 'events'. The dates are all out of order, but there are about 4 new entries, one of which is 'Permit Issued' with a big green tick next to it and something about an envelope being printed to mail out the licence (Could it really be!!!???? I don't want to get my hopes up yet!!!!) The officer listed is also a different person to the guy previously handling our file. Feeling like this is a bit of positive news for a Monday afternoon

I really, really hope so!! Hopefully they'll be sending you a bottle of wine, carton of beer, box of chocolates and a fruit basket along with it (only to you.... Not the builder) as an apology!

WE HAVE A BUILDING PERMIT!!!!!
I was out of the office this morning, but came back to a couple of missed calls and a voicemail from CoC's building manager explaining that he'd issued our permit as of yesterday. I didn't get the chance to call back before he sent me a nice long apologetic email about the inadequacy of the way in which our application was handled. All in all, very happy with the outcome...now just need to wait for our construction letter in the mail!!

Thanks everyone for all your happy dancing It's good a feeling to know that all the paperwork is finally out of the way. We're not quite all the way to construction yet - there were still a couple of things that needed to be fixed - I think the council attached some additional notes/conditions to the licence (we're starting the think they really enjoyed picking on us for anything they could think of!!!)....We had to change the positioning and sizes of our soak wells, as well as make sure that the light switch and exhaust fan for our ensuite were on a single switch, rather than one for each. SPH drafting were right onto it though, and got the variations out to us very quickly, so everything is now signed and back with them. We haven't incurred any additional charges for the changes - I think SPH are as sick and tired of all the bother with the council as we are and keen to get things happening.
I haven't had too much of a chance to catch up on everyone's threads recently....been trying to get my head back into studying mode and minimising my distractions where possible...this forum is a BIG one! Always excited to see progress pics from you all though...and I don't feel too guilty about wasting a little bit of time on a Friday afternoon at work catching up on H1 happenings

Wow, did you screw over the council or something in a past life? You're right that they seem to just be picking on you now. We're about the same distance from a busy freeway/train line as you (I assume) and we didn't have to comply to anything like you have had to!! what a pain!
Good to see SPH is on it. When we had a problem with having to add all the cabinetry back in to the contract, they did all the plans, contracts and variation within three days to get it to the bank asap. I was impressed good to see they've been good to you through this! They must hate the council as much as you by now!

Pfffft. I will pee in the dark. Take that council!!!
Glad to see that everything is nearly ready for construction though!!!
Yeah! Me too!! For everything!! Yay!
But not yay about the toilet switches. I really don't get it! Surely fumbling around in the dark to take a pee is far more hazardous than not turning on the exhaust?? I HATE toilets that have the single switch for light/exhaust! Sometimes you just don't need the exhaust! Actually, most of the time, I reckon. But lights are useful, so you don't miss the target or hurt yourself on the porcelain or something.
Anyway, it's very exciting that you are now ready for the exciting wait for construction to start!

I told DP this....he found the 'gas' idea hilarious.
I'm sitting here staring at the last amended version of the plans, somehow wondering if I can will construction to come along faster. I can't believe our plans got to 'Revision No. H'
