Wow, they've really strung you around haven't they? What do they expect - that you have all the time in the world to spend time getting things ready on THEIR timeline rather than yours?

Apparently they are trying to get the certificate today so the bank can maybe post us through the cheque in time for Friday. They want to do PCI Friday morning and settle Friday afternoon but we just found out we have to go to Melbourne to settle. I don't think that will be possible. We wanted to settle at the property. Its difficult to get time off work, kids etc.

Then I hope you do not need to travel all the way here to settle..
For your sake I hope you do not have any other major issues in the second PCI....half a day from PCI to Handover does not leave much time to fix issues

Let's have some perspective, you're buying/building a house, not a block of chocolate. The seriousness and magnitude of the purchase really should require it be treated as such - a day away from work shouldn't be unreasonable to get it done right.
The same goes with trying to squeeze handover and PCI in to a few separated days.

My husband and I have commitments at work and appointments with our customers relying on our service. We wasted a day off already for the first PCI. Hardly reasonable to have no notice given and just expect we can take aother day off whenever we like. Its different when you normally have two weeks notice for PCI and Settlement. They have never treated us like we were making one of the biggest purchases you can make, more like they were selling us chocolate. If you read through whats happened of late you may change your opinion. Not our idea squeezing it in, that's the builders.
anyway occupancy has been sent to bank. they will require some days to process & cheque will not arrive until next week.
our PCI is 11am Friday with settlement Thursday next week at 2pm. I will be unable to go to settlement due to work commitments.

know how you feel you would think that they could do settlements at a regional office we have to be at our place 730 am then get from pakenham to altona for 10 am then get back to the house so we can put our key in to activate the locks.... anybody have a helicopter we could borrow for the day?

Everything seems to be all good now
Things are starting to come together PCI is tomorrow and this time I don't have that dreaded feeling, we're actually really excited
Knowing the vanity is definitely fixed is a relief and this time next week we will have our keys We plan to seal the grout ourselves before we move furniture which will be done on the weekend. I'm not working next Saturday then Hubby and I were able to organise a day off on the Monday Our girls have kinder/daycare that day so we should get lots of boxes moved and unpacked!
I just can't wait. We haven't been in our own house for 9 months!
Need to get our building and contents insurance organized and geez that's expensive! It's increased a lot in the last 2 years!

YIPEE YAY...IT ALL WENT SMOOTHLY
The house is PERFECT The only thing we could see that needs fixing is a dent in our dishwasher. Everything else seems to be good and that dreadful vanity is no more I have new pics taken today of the main bathroom. I just cant believe how much stress we were put through just to get it looking like it should. The appliences are in and the oven is so big it's intimidating! I've never cooked in such a large oven So excited! Oh and my sink! As my nana would say 'ooh lala'
