Thanks Smarty pants and congrats on yours too!

As the block has now settled and we now own it - I thought it was time for some pictures of the block being developed!

Hi Natsy,

I have a friend who is building and is considering the Kingston brick. I notice you said you had some addresses to look at, my friend only mentioned display homes in Ellenbrook and Bunbury. Do you have any addresses in addition to these for a driveby to look at the finished product with Kingston bricks??

Many thanks for your help!

Emma

Just thought I would drop in a let everyone know that we are still in the land of the living but not much to report back on. We have met up with Next Residential (new Aveling/Zorzi two storey building company) and they are trying to do a custom design for us within our budget as we have found it a bit difficult to find a plan (that I like within our budget) to suit our block 22.5 wide x 31 long so anyway we will met up with them on Monday give them some feedback on the design they have properly sketched up and then they will cost it up for us so lets hope it's within our budget!

This is one of the plans we are looking at - any feedback is welcome.

Note we are changing the upstairs ensuite shower to hobless (no shower screen for me to clean) so they are going to redesign that for me. I apologise for the quality but I had to take a photos as we only have hard copies of it so far.

Hi Natsy, I think your design looks really great! Just wondering what the front of the house looks like with the second storey set that far back, would love to see a pic if you have one, and also the only thing that caught my eye was the size of the bath in the main bathroom. I can't tell if it's a small bath or if because the house is so big it just looks small

I love the extra powder room by the alfresco, that's genius. I also like the generous wardrobes to the bedrooms, and think the flow is really nice. You've got everything you could possibly want in the one home which is what you wanted so I think you guys and the designer have done a great job!!

p.s. doesn't hobless mean you'll have more glass to clean??

Yes it is a small bath which I thought might be a bit odd? but I'd rather a small bath than a small shower and plus it's only for the kids (I won't be getting in it).

I do have a copy (I'll dig it out) but changing the elevation as didn't like it but basically it will look like a single storey from the front - I didn't really think that would matter do you? But the reason it has been set back so far is to make sure we can get the view. We will go up to the block on the weekend with a tape measure to sort of get an idea of it all.

We added the extra toilet as we are thinking at the back behind the house we would have the pool & spa area so easy access to the toilet.

Maybe I should of been a bit clearer regarding the shower as I meant one of these showers http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=31292

Hi Natsy, Your house looks amazing, the only thing i would be worried about is the entrance were bedroom 2's BIR sticks out into the passage, it might make it very narrow and take away from the grandeur of the home when people come through your front door....Other then that everything is perfect...... your elevation looks awesome :)

Hey Natsy. Elevation is great. Definitely different to anything I have seen before! What a view from the Master suite!

Not a bath person eh? I must admit I love a good soak so that's why it probably caught my eye:) What are your favourite and not so favourite bits? I notice that you're not getting a lot of feedback which is a shame (apart from the lovely Mary of course who helps everyone!!). Seems like we need more people building in Iluka as people are tending to post based on location or builder for some reason!

BTW I saw the landscaping and I LOVE it. I have two norfolk pines across from me and am so excited. I was worried they were going to go with grass trees like they have along the beach road as they are so messy! But no, instead we have Christmas trees, yay!!!!

Oh yeah I do like a good soak in the bath (don't get time these days with my time little ones) but I gathered since we will eventually have a spa I thought I'll be soaking in there instead ;)

I was a bit worried about the entrance bit with the robe sticking out like Mary said but my husband likes it as he wants the TV on wall shown so he can see the TV from when your in the kitchen and thinks as you walk in the entrance it will block out seeing the TV with all the cords etc - what do you think? The entrance is 1.1m as is or without robe is 1.6m. I also hope that the kitchen is big enough and we have enough storage?

I gathered no one was posting about my plan due to the fact it's awesome and no one can fault it - ha ha ha :D

I thought you might like the tree's as you love Christmas so much!

I like your thinking Natsy  Of course it's because the house is perfect!

I had a second look at the entrance and while I can see what Mary is saying I think it's also nice to have the wall there to create a nook for the TV cabinetry. Also, Feng Shui wise apparently it's good to break up any straight lines directly from the front door (don't know if that makes any difference to you but my sister in law is Chinese and she points these things out to me all the time  )

Are you getting any good bonuses with your builder??

I'll let my husband know about the Feng Shui aspect of the entrance passageway as maybe his subconscious his telling him this (he's half Chinese). :D

We are still waiting for the costings to come back and then we will negotiate on some things so not sure yet what they might "throw in".

Hey Natsy! How are things going with your house selection? Signed up yet, or still sorting out designs?

Hi there,

Love the plans! Have you considered moving the entry to the audio/visual room further down (opposite study entry) and having a door where the entry narrows ( near bed 2 robe) ? It allows you to close off and define the entry-and will give you more useable corners in the audio/visual room.... :th:

Deemaree - I did think of putting a door in the entrance way next to bedroom 2's robe but my husband won't budge on the idea but I have been thinking about audio visual room doors and moving them down and maybe making them sliders but if I keep them with the swinging doors I won't be able to as it wouldn't fit the furniture in.

As for an update there really isn't any - haven't finalised anything and keep changing my mind with what I want.

Ok the plan I previously posted we have scrapped as we couldn't agree on the price and gone to another builder. We are pretty sure we are going to go with them (it's a bit over our budget but I'm so in love with the design - eeeek) but just waiting on some changes and costing so we might actually start building in the near future :D
