Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 13, 2011 7:52 pm Ok after nearly 3 years of trying to decide what to do with our old house, we've decided on a Masterton Fernleigh 30. Scanning through the pages of info and comments on this site has been immensely helpful in guiding some key choices - thanks to all that contribute So we've paid our $3000 for the plans to be drawn up and have a little time to start to think about colours and all the other fun bits ahead. I have a couple questions I am curious about and wondered if anyone had any info about these. 1. We were given a standard Authority to Prepare Plans and Specifications to sign. It says we need to pay $1,000 for any changes we request after we sign off (including repositioning the house). Would any amendments required by council (i.e. windows, moving the house 1/2 a metre, etc) trigger this charge? 2. We want to reposition the sink and oven/cooktop and so modify some of the kitchen cabinets including increase their height due to high ceilings. I got the impression that changing kitchens is somewhat frowned upon and we've been told we have to do this separately with their kitchen consultant and there is a fee just to sit down with them even if we draft up the changes ourselves. Anyone had any experience making moderate changes to a Masterton Kitchen?
