Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 741Mar 06, 2015 1:07 pm Here's my update! We moved in end of August, start of September (geez I forget). Loving the house on the whole. Finally got the chance to try out the spa in the ensuite a couple of weeks ago. Filled it up, lit some candles, jumped in and then hit the switch for the bubbles aaand…nothing! Did I seriously not check the spa worked before handover? idiot I checked it was plugged in and then also ran an extension cord from another socket to test it and nothing worked. Now I don't know what to do…Do I just add it to the 12 month list or call them now? Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 742Mar 06, 2015 1:32 pm We have our final inspection due soon but its going t take a few weeks to level out the crooked ceilings. One end of my alfresco door is closer to the ceiling than the other end. Haven't measured yet but the eye can pick it up as you walk down the hall Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 743Mar 06, 2015 5:51 pm Ari Here's my update! However getting scared after reading all the negative posts for them. You have specified that you guys hired an individual inspector. If it's ok can I know the details of that person and how much it will cost to hire a person for that? Many Thanks, Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 745Mar 31, 2015 8:33 pm AACJ Amalfi_536 We have our final inspection due soon but its going t take a few weeks to level out the crooked ceilings. Many Thanks, If you are looking to build with them I would take a look at some of their builds from people on here including myself. Dont let my photos think Im telling you NOT to build with them. We had an inspector but there are things that were not done correctly that he could not dispute as it was "within standards". Although he agreed that it should not have been done that way... Pm me if you would like the companies name . Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 749Apr 02, 2015 12:51 pm All of that stuff should have been picked up at inspections... Who on earth would let all that get by and still hand over cheques

Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 754Jul 06, 2015 2:42 pm Has anyone ever heard or seen Mainvue's built house model called Bellingham? I've seen it on real estate website but cannot find any reference to it on Mainvue's own website or anywhere else for that matter. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 755Jul 06, 2015 10:15 pm Might be mainvue.com... Theyre in the usa Our build - MainVue Amalfi 428 - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75482 Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 756Jul 07, 2015 11:06 am joshd Might be mainvue.com... Theyre in the usa Hhmmm, no definitely here in Australia. I called the REA and inquired about it and they sent me some paperwork on which it also states Bellingham. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 757Jul 08, 2015 2:06 pm As mentioned before, we are looking at a house currently being built by Mainvue and have put down a refundable deposit. We have never purchased a house that is under construction and have never built a house, hence the following question. Are all builders very stingy when it comes to providing information or is this something limited to Mainvue? We've asked for certain changes to be made at our cost and the answer was a straight "no". We weren't happy about it, but understood their point of view given that the house is 2 months away from the completion. Then we asked for some information such as to see the landscaping plans and had a query regarding the retaining walls (because the position of the retaining wall makes no sense to us) and the answer to those questions was pretty much a "no" as well. We are kind of starting to get a bad feeling about the house and Mainvue in particular as they don't seem to be very forthcoming with any information at all. Thanks in advance for any and all feedback. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 758Jul 09, 2015 6:49 pm So you're buying a ready to move into house? Even when you're building from scratch they rarely let you make changes once construction has started. I'm not sure why they wouldn't give you the landscaping plan if landscaping is provided. What's wrong with the position of the retaining wall? Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 759Jul 10, 2015 10:19 am Ari So you're buying a ready to move into house? Even when you're building from scratch they rarely let you make changes once construction has started. To some extent i can understand the reasons if the house is quite a fair bit completed, but if not or if construction hasn't started yet, then i don't quite understand the reason as to why not, especially if we are willing to pay for it. Quote: I'm not sure why they wouldn't give you the landscaping plan if landscaping is provided. What's wrong with the position of the retaining wall? Well everyone I've talked to thus far can't understand why we can't see them before we actually commit, but there you go. As for the retaining wall, there is basically a gap of about 1500mm wide and about 1500mm deep between the retaining wall and the fence so in other words there is a backyard leading up to the retaining wall which is level with the backyard, then there is about a 1.5 meter drop and as i said about 1.5m to the fence and we could imagine what on earth is going to be there. We've had a call from Mainvue about it since then and they couldn't really say what the reason for that gap is but "think" they they would fill it up with dirt and level it with the rest of the backyard and the retaining wall, then lay turf on it. To be honest, I'm not sure how i feel about that. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 760Jul 10, 2015 7:33 pm They should be able to do your changes even if construction has started, but usually ends up with a $500 post contract variation fee. Though some changes they wont do if it means it'll void the warranty or if there's a good structurual reason. If it's already started, then that means contracts have been signed off, drawings have been done to accomodate changes and requests, things may have been ordered, a lot's happened. That'd be the reason why, even if it's not too far into the build, it's why you have the tender and contract signing. What are you wanting changed? I'm confused by your situation though. Have you bought into a home that had already started construction? I'd have thought if you were getting landscaping done with it, that you'd have worked that out prior to building? Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24833 I haven’t.
