All that progress in just 5 weeks!! That's amazing I can't wait until my own house starts building.. I've been watching yours race along with envy. I can't believe how excited I am and it's not even my house
hehe - thanks Cattycatcat! I love that other people are excited about our house too!

WOW Eiffel your house is steaming along!
All that in 5 weeks i am so envious i have been building since August and i only just started to get my brick
I love the roofing , and it's going to be amazing driving down your drive and seeing it - What color is it?
Also i'm with you on your un-welcomed guest I really really can't deal with spiders especially ones as 'small' as yours
Hey baby bacchus - the roof is Colorbond Monument....am really loving it ....it's not as dark as I thought it was going to be but it seems to vary a lot with the light.
We are really pleased/ecstatic/thrilled with the speed of our build....our builder is a local one, but we are also very good friends with a few of the important people within the company.....so I am not sure if it's because of that or because they're not a volume builder that is making it speed along! I am sure it will slow down at some stage (secretly hoping it doesn't though!!)
Righto, am off to have a look at the house now...or I should say take the kids to the park....but hey, who am I kidding???
In the scheme of things and in relation to how quickly everything else has happened, this feels like it has been a slow week..............without too much happening....but we have had: - more bricks - the roof completely finished and safety stuff removed - some preparation of the internal frame presumably to get ready for plasterboard - the ducted heating bits and pieces go in
[ img ] [ img ] The brickies have made it around the house and old bricking (1 week old) meets the new bricks of today! [ img ] [ img ] [ img ]
What's next? Am expecting the sparkies in pretty soon to do their thing.......the front door still needs to be changed and I guess we can probably expect lockup soon with plaster going in next week sometime?? (which means we should probably get in and get the extra noggins in that we want!)
Wow, outside is looking great!! It was great to see your roofers actually using safety measures. Pirs used nothing and I work for a very safety conscious company so I freaked out a little when I saw him wandering around with not even a harness.. Lol
Sounds about right for what's up next. Our ducting is in and sparky came, insulation went in this week. Heading down now to check out the gyprock

Thanks guys - we are pretty pleased with how it is looking outside!
We went to check on some things today (Sunday) and we were surprised to find that the brickies had been between then and our visit on Friday evening so they have done a bit more.......hoping they will be finished mid this week!

Thought about buying that block in front of you so you keep that amazing view?
haha - we have indeed - just need our lotto numbers to come up and that will be the first purchase we make (after the champagne of course!! )
We've had the sparkies in this week doing their first fix - need to go thru and double check the positioning of all our powerpoints and lights.....have spent a small fortune on our electrical upgrades (there should be no need for extension leads anywhere in our house with the number of powerpoints we have! ) and want to make sure they are all where we wanted them.
The brickies are stillllllllll going .........haven't been there today, but am hoping they might have actually finished.........it's been over 2 weeks now!
We had a heap of rain in the storms last night - and my DH paid a visit on his way home just after the first batch of storms went through and it seemed we developed a bit of a moat out the back
I spoke to our builder the other day and he thinks the plasterer will be in at the end of next week - just waiting for him to finish another job so he can start ours. Apparently he is worth the wait though as he does a very good job and will cause less hassles further down the line!
Argh..... don't even get me started about the rain , it's put us back ....again!
Are you having fun counting all our power points Good game to play with the boys to help them learn to count! Maybe take a piece of chalk and draw the number under each one

Electrical, that is exciting!! I think no matter how long I studied our plan on paper, I still couldn't get the placement right for powerpoints & light switches without doing a walk thru. I'm looking forward to the site meeting with the sparky to see what suggestions he comes up with. Our standard inclusion is 30 powerpoints, which I thought was heaps! But I exceeded that just doing the basics. Do you know how many you are putting in?
I keep looking back at your photos of the bricks, they look really great. You must be really pleased with your selections so far!
How big is your house?? It looks so huge, the roofline looks really fantastic!! I wish we had went a bit more fancy but being in the bush we wanted to minimise valleys for the leaves to collect in, also for bushfire protection. Everytime I see yours I am a tad envious
Worth waiting for the good plasterer! I can't wait to see photos once it is done, it really starts to look like a home once the walls are lined.
Well, ladies, I have no idea exactly how many powerpoints - I really should try and count them all.....but apparently we caused a bit of a stir with the number that we have......the builders were wondering why we needed sooooo many!! I swear that there should not be any need for any extension leads in our house!!
Luckily we did the walk through of the house last weekend and double checked the positioning of the powerpoints and lights etc as we picked up a few things that were not quite right! When I spoke to the builders he said they would have checked things anyways before the plaster .....we just got in first!

Am loving our bricks...really pleased with them! They took a lot longer than we expected but they do look good!

Our house itself is about 26sq....I think....I can't actually remember - (is that bad? ) The roofline developed from us trying to design/fit as much of the house into the 'corner' of our block as we could. I agree the roofline does look great - I am not sure the roofing guys were loving it though when it took them quite a while to do!

I can't wait either......there has been some plaster delivered - it looks like the plaster for the eaves........still waiting for the big stack to arrive for the inside. Maybe this time next week we will have some plaster up??

Well, I have just realised I haven't put an update up for a while so here is a bit of a pictorial update.......
Bricks all finished [ img ] Front porch [ img ] New front door frame [ img ] The 515 spare bricks we moved over the weekend To be used for letterbox or future pizza oven [ img ] The conduit for the power to the island bench in the kitchen [ img ] Extra noggins put in for toilet roll holder among others... [ img ] Bath surround/hob in. The bath doesn't go in til a lot later to avoid any damage..... [ img ] Cavity slider door frames in - this is the one through to the ensuite [ img ] Not only do we have builders on site, it seems we have artists (or comedians) as well! [ img ]
We have plaster/gyprock in the garage ready to go up for the eaves so I guess that's next! Will keep you posted!
Looking good ... love your front porch - it's a bit different to the norm with the windows there - nobody will be able to sneak up to your front door without being seen!!
