Funny the things that you notice!!! And don't! I remember walking past the hot water system when it first arrived, big...huge box, and i walked straight past!
Doesn't look like water proofing has been done. They will go to edge and to top of tiling. It will be white when it is done.

So waterproofing looks white? Okay. I have made a note to ask about it at the meeting anyway. thank god I have all you H1'ers to tell me these things!!
I removed the mid-shelf for a future pull-out bin drawer [ img ]
We also realised the reason we couldn't see the powerpoint was because the back of the shelf is covered. [ img ]
Now. The downside. While I do love the kitchen benchtop, they haven't done a good job joining it. I did a few closeups of the few joins. (please note, one of them has the outline of the kitchen cutout in it as well, so just look at the vertical line...)
I can very obviously see the joins, and I can definitely feel them when I run my hand over it. In fact, if I run my finger along the join, I'm likely to actually cut myself.
I'm going to have to 'discover' this problem tomorrow morning at the tile meeting, and bring it up. Much to my dismay Everything was going so well, too. Plus I don't think there is anything they can really do about it, other than use a silicone filler but I don't know if that'll be enough.
It was still exciting to have a look around, but the visible joins in the benchtop have made me feel kind of down, though I shouldn't be. So I feel bleh and guilty for feeling bleh. BLEH.

Our join is very obvious but apparently light colours are easier to see Oh well, they still look gorgeous! The kitchen is really taking shape!!! YAY for water proofing! Can't wait to see the tiles!

I don't really mind being able to 'see' the join, but it's being able to feel it that bugs me. I've done some research and they should be able to use white silicone filler to try and smooth it out? Maybe? I've calmed down since lunchtime, I'm not as bothered by it now I know there is an option to try and fix it.
Am excited about the meeting in the morning. Dave can't get the morning off so it'll just be me. I've got a drawing of how we want the border tile in the shower recesses, and a list of queries to bring up with the SS.
Dave and I are house sitting for friends for three weeks as of today, so it'll be nice to have some privacy for a while!

don't worry about benchtop. they will fix that up. i had similar visible joints. when i pointed out to them next day, they said they have not finished yet and don't know what they did but i can not feel the joints any more.

Tile meeting went great! Met the tiler (and now I can't remember his name, oops ) and he was really nice, we went over all the tile selections and whereabouts all th tiles are going.
I decided not to miter the tiles after all. I was given the option by the tiler (while the SS was there so apparently it's just a normal option they offer while you're there!) but he recommended not doing it because it weakens the edges and makes them more susceptible to chipping. He showed me the edge of the brown floor tiles (which will also be the skirting) and on one edge, it is bevelled to look nice and no raw edge showing so he will make sure that's the edge facing up around the skirting and facing out around the hobs. He said he will point the raw edges into the shower so we can't see them. The white tiles (shower walls and vanoity backsplash, around the bath, etc) don't have the nice bevelled edge but he recommended painting them when we do the walls, as a small lick of paint will hide the raw terracotta edge. All in all, it will save us paying for mitering them (a few $100's). I was happy with this. My Mum had heard of this tiler before and he has an excellent reputation apparently so I am pleased with that.
Asked about the joins in the benchtop. SS explained that the benchtop can move when they cut out the sink so they haven't joined it properly yet. Once the sink is in, they will join it properly, iron it (I think that's what he said) and use a silicone filler to smooth the join out. I am very happy with this.
I asked about the Theatre window. We went into the Theatre and realied the glazier must have come yesterday as the window is already done! No more gap
Apparently the tiler will be done in a week, then sparkies come to fit out powerpoints and lights/plumbers come to do floor wastes and taps, etc. He suggested we may be in (handover) 6-8 weeks from now at the rate they are going.
SPH have my full tick of approval for the speed and quality of their work so far! I am very impressed!

told you that you might be in your house by August. Even we did not go for mitering the tiles but we were not lucky to have rounded edges for skirting tiles. oh well - i guess the paint will hide that side.

Wow, 6-8 weeks?!! That's awesome
Glad window and bench are sorted. Interesting about mitiring. We paid extra to have it done but I'm glad we did. Our stone tiles, which will be the floor and hob of both baths is terracotta insides so we can't paint those I guess it just made sense to do it all so it ties in. HOpe it's worth the extra dollars we paid!!
Your house is coming along just beautifully and I hope SPH give the same speed, quality and attention to detail to our build

Chuffy, if we had the cash or had the finance, I would have done it. But at this point in time, I'd rather take the suggestions and save the money for something else. Mitering the tiles can be done for our NEXT house! Yours will look amazing!
I'm sure SPH will build you an amazing house once the weather dries up a bit and your brickies can get on with it!
