I have no idea! All I know is that the mystery sticks are now gone....but I can't get in to see if they were put anywhere else!!

Okay. I've been trying to think of how to design our WIR (even though there's no real point me doing so, since we won't be able to afford to do it any time soon). We like the look of the white melamine setups from Bunnings (Dave's brother did his wardrobe and it looks AWESOME). But I have a query.
What are your thoughts on wire rack drawers versus proper sliding (soft close) drawers? For example...
[ img ] Pros: easy to install AND no cleaning required (dusting, etc), and you can see what's in there so there's no hunting through multiple drawers to find one thing... Cons: they aren't as stable and you end up with those little line wrinkles in whatever you place in the drawer. Plus no stability in terms of small items that will just fall though.
[ img ] Pros: looks neat and clean and very streamlined (which I love), very stable and solid and will hide everything from view. Cons: Difficult to install (however, Dave is an awesome handyman so he'll be fine) and, probably my biggest con, harder to clean. Will need to empty out the drawers and wipe out dust from the inside to clean them. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have had wire baskets (the ones from Ikea) for a long time now and I put undies bras trackers and pjs in them and then have the rest as hanging space for pants tops and dresses.
I have a 1.8m setup from Howard's storage world and have half as double hanging and then half as full height hanging and poke the wire basket draws under that.
I like the Howard's system as the only part you have to attach to the wall is the top track. The vertical ones hang from it and it's strong enough that Daniel can hang on it!!
Bunnings has a cheaper version but you have to screw the vertical parts too the wall but it has the top track so they are easier to line up.
I prefer the wire baskets for the no dusting!!!
I'll try to find a photo of mine to post!!

Found some!
As the room is so so tiny its in two bits LOL
I think this set up (not including the silver baskets) was about $450
The silver baskets are "vintage" from Ikea (Antonius is now white not silver), they are about $45 each including draws (i had them in my old unit as that was a shelf and rail sliding robe but... they went in sideways to fit! Too long otherwise!)
The Howards storage world one though is 58cm deep. If you have sliding robes which are 600 deep the track is 85 deep which means the HSW ones are too wide. Which is why we made our robes 700 deep.
However the Bunnings version - I think its called easycloset is way cheaper (like half!) and will fit in a 600 deep robe with slider!
I also like this as you can cut down the top rail and shelving to suit individual robes, but it is also flexible, I change mine around every so often and want to buy a pant hanger!

Thanks Jen! That's brilliant
Our robes in the bedrooms are 620 deep - something that I never checked or paid attention to up until now. We're not doing anything fancy in those - just the usual pole and shelf.
However, in our WIR, I deleted the shelf and pole so it's just an empty room cavity for the moment. I love having a blank canvas to work with!! So here's a tiny plan. It is 2640 long by 1700 wide, plus the door is 720 (no door atm but it will once we install one).
I want a shelf around the top to store things and the rest underneath that. I don't want any low single shelves (not meaning the Bunnings ones, I mean like a flat shelf by itself) because I'll have to vacuum under it and therefore wouldn't put anything under it, and it's a waste of space - AND I don't want anything sitting on the floor (e.g. shoes). I don't ask for much, do I?
I've drawn a scale plan on sketch paper of the WIR, I have printed out the various options we can get at Bunnings, and I'll be planning it that way
I like the wire shelves, they are nice and I like that it doesn't require cleaning/dusting, but at the same time, I prefer the neatness of solid shelves/drawers. And I would probably make the drawers soft close cos I'm a door banger lucky we are getting soft close everything throughout the house to avoid my annoying banging. Hehehe!

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with, Ally
Jen, you're so neat and organised...dp would love it if I kept all my clothes like that (Although I think he has more than me!!) but I'm a messy girl..I feel like it's because most of my clothes are black and I get frustrated because I can't differentiate easily between items...so I have a clothes tantrum and lots of things end up on the floor. Oops.
The Howard's system looks great, nice and easy to install!

You're not alone there... Half my clothes are black and I have to organise them by category instead of colour (e.g. singles, shirts, jumpers) otherwise I can't bloody tell!

Bahaha! But WIRs are the best for that - secret mess! And awh @ Mork. Cats know where THEIR place is. My kitty River did the same to our recliner - dented and, of course, covered in hair. Mork must love his spot in the sun.
In other news.... we were able to break into the house tonight! I say that like we're criminals but not really, they'd just left the garage door unlocked. So much has been done, I can barely contain my excitement! Dave and I ran from room to room looking at all the new things. I nearly peed!
Me being really excited about being able to open the door... [ img ]
The robes in Bed 2, Bed 3 and Bed 4 are done! [ img ]

Caz, we got in and LITERALLY ran around in circles, from room to room, over poles and shoving each other to get to the next awesome thing. So yes, dizzy with excitement is exactly how I would explain it! Haha!

Nothing more done today...from what I could see anyway, it was locked up tight! I tried every door!
But we did get the 'Congrats on Reaching Lockup' letter with a list of what happens next....
- Plumbers to install plumbing fittings (Toilets, Baths, Showers, Taps etc). - Kitchen cupboards and Bathroom vanities will be installed. - Tilers will attend site to tile the nominated tiling areas. - Shower screen to be installed. - Benchtops/Splashbacks to be installed. - Electricians will install necessary fittings. - Painters will attend site to commence necessary painting. - Grano and paving to be laid.
