Thanks boganswife (great name) and I love your profile picture
I love the master bed, ensuite and robe setup, we found one we loved and changed the original master bed to this one. The alfresco is great, I want to get those zip up flywire type enclosures when it's finished because we spend a lot of our time outside and the flies are bad in spring time.
One thing I'm not sure about is the size of the theater room... will it be to small, unfortunately the house is not a display home so I can't see it in real life.

I hear ya with the flywirefor the alfresco. The insects are always the worst at the time of year you want to be outside!
What size is the theatre? I cant read the measurements. Ours is only 3.9 x 4.2. Our thinking was you only really need enough room to fit the furniture in comfortably and a good distance from the screen, if it is going to be a designated theatre room Also I think you get better acoustics in a smaller room that is fairly evenly proportioned?
Maybe measure a room in your current house to use as a comparison, or draw some furniture to scale to give an idea of how the room will work for you? Looks like a good size to me!

If only budget was not an issue!
I think you have your priorities right though, giving the extra to the rooms that get used more often. You don't want to skrimp on the kitchen!! For what its worth, the room we are using for a lounge in our current house is only 3.6 x 3.8 I think, and it feels spacious enough. We have a huge corner lounge in there too!
So, down to the important stuff... When is site start?? Colour selections??

We have had our soil test done but we live on our farm now ( in a little weekender) and have to move the fence to keep the cattle out of the new house site, this is slowing the surveyors from coming out. Hopefully that will be finish early next week.
It has been so wet and very muddy, tractor got bogged while putting in the new fence posts
Then hubby was busy trying to deliver a calf that was stuck....had to get the vet out to do a caesarean on the poor mother So far mum and calf are doing great.
So we are at the very early stages and thanks for the encouragement with the theater, it is only the place to go after a long day so nice and cozy will be great

Home theater wise it would be worth looking at acoustics of the room. The following link provides and excel download to fit all your parameters into it to see how it will work out. http://www.carltonbale.com/home-theater ... alculator/
I think it will be quite narrow, I am big into that area so we opted for larger dimensions.
The following page provides a calculator to check dimensions for room acoustics. If the room is bad acoustically it will be very difficult to adjust afterwards. We found we had to lower the ceiling height by 100mm. http://www.tmlaboratories.com/RoomDimen ... lator.html
There is a program called sweet home 3d which you can download and draw your house up in 3d and the beauty is that it allows you to drop in images of the furniture etc you will be using (not actual pics but size equivalent) http://www.sweethome3d.com/index.jsp
I found all these very handy as I am planning remotely from overseas and emails.
Hope this helps. Great looking plan, one thing you could do is move the front wall out little and the garage down, this would give you more width and length in the theater and make the rooms a little bigger. It would also make the rear of the garage wide enough to drive through if side access was needed.

Thanks Mark there's some great links there, we have a hundred acres so we don't have to worry about side access, I wonder if it costs much to bringthe front wall out?????
I know what you mean by doing everything by emails, I work 4 weeks on 1 off so I will be doing a lot by phone and email and doesn't give me much time to sort the colors out.

Man I am so envious of a 100 acre plot. I have toyed with the idea of selling my Perth property and buying a farm but the trouble is I know nothing about it and I suspect its a lot of hard work. In my mind I think of how hard it would be and then double or triple it and I am coming close. I actually live in Singapore so moving back to Perth will be a big change. All my rels are in Harvey Busselton etc.
I have been looking at your plans and with space not being an issue why not upsize and go the big homestead look. I would move the garage round the back and have the alfresco down the back with a servery window from kitchen to outside. Will the alfresco be under the main roof?? If the garage was the out the back you could also enter through the laundry.
I cannot see where the study door is but I would put it off the passage and not from the entry area. You are so lucky to be starting already. I am still in wait and wait mode for costs from the builder. Things are about half price here but not sure what I am allowed to use.

Oh no, poor mooeys Glad to hear they are doing ok. Sounds like you have had an interesting time of it!
We've had our soil tests, surveying and bushfire assessment done over the last few weeks. Bushfire requirements are doing my head in I will have to start my own thread so I can get some feedback and share our build.
I hope you can get the surveying done soon, your roster would make things difficult. My DH works away so I am usually doing all the chasing up, or we are trying to cram things into the very little time he has at home. I think colour selections is going to be a challenge, but very much looking forward to it!
You should post some pics of your land 100 acres would be amazing!
Looking forward to following this one!! Great plan - we are the same re priorities - I think your home theatre will be fine - ours isn't huge either. Another house for me to have alfresco envy over Good luck with everything - keep your colours simple and selections shouldn't be too hard - I think some people try to fit too many colours/patterns in and then confuse themselves.

Your right Mark it is a lot of hard work, my husband is a born and bred farmer from Victoria so he just thrives on it. I just love the lambs and calves and the open space. And of course my Dogs, veggie garden ( put on hold while I work away) and I love my chooks, ducks and gena fowl. But with all the great things there are always bad We have scorpions .....lots and lots of them, we have the poultry to eat them and recently got the pest control people out to treat the place, I hate poison but I hate scorpions even more.
Alfresco is under the main roof and kids are grown up now so we don't really want to go to big ( just more cleaning )
Singapore would be a great place to see, are you building over there or when you get back to Perth?
Jess it would be great to follow each others build and yes it's going to be hard to get everything done in a week, I just flew back tonight so it will be a busy time.
Hello Mclaren, you are right, keep it simple and then color can be added with accessories and changed when you get sick of it, I love the natural cream shades

Hi Excited,
I will be building in Perth and looking to return in the next 18months. Singapore sure is a nice and easy place ot live and very safe but I want to be back in Perth. Building here is just as expensive as Perth but land cost is absolutely out of this world.

HI Excited. Great to see your house setting. Love that nice long drive. I'll look forward to watching your build go up. The land looks nice and flat where you are. BTW I've edited your pictures by adding the [img] information to each one. You can do this yourself by reopening an existing post, highlighting the picture and then clicking on the IMG button at the top of the post you are editing. This allows the photo to be seen within your post instead of people having to go off site to see them.
