We brought our beautiful 667sqm block of land in Bacchus Marsh late last year, but didn't settle on it till Feb 2011. We love the Marsh and can't wait to call it home (fingers crossed) a little later this year. This is a photo of our little fella getting ready to slap that beautiful 'SOLD' sign on the board earlier this year. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Since then we looked through so many different display homes in Point Cook, but we just couldn't find value for money or the floor plan that clicked. At the time my sister worked for a building company but i didn't even think to look at their homes because it wasn't a 'large' scale builder but after quite alot of convincing we started to troll through their hundreds of floor plans till i told my sister what we were after and just like that she smiled and said 'we have one just like that' and guess what they did, and in our budget with room to add the extras we also wanted. So we have set about building our dream home with D!x@n Homes Melbourne. They have been great thus far and even though we have changed a few things (both small and large) and they have been more then accomodating to all our requests to a) make the house fit on our block and b) suite us better. I will try to upload the original plans over the weekend so you can compare, but for now here are our Stamped Plans: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here is a photo of our block just before all the work started in July 2011 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I will take photo's of our plans and elevations tomorrow under better light so share with you along with a image of our rather expensive retaining wall. When we were looking for a home, one of the things it had to have was a rumpus and had to be placed in or around the space of the bedrooms. We are currently living a two bedroom place and the little one spreads his toys from one end to the other, we hope that giving him his own space will encourage him to keep it in the one spot. Ok so back with some more pictures to share with you all. I think it will be a lovely home once built, congrats Re: Our build in the 'Marsh' 7Aug 21, 2011 9:25 am kiwi so organised well done! where is the marsh? which state? like your house plan, looks a great use of space. and the bricks are nicer than the first choice, well done you!! I think it will be a lovely home once built, congrats Hi Kiwi, Thank you on your reply. We are building in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria. It's a very pretty town, with a stunning Avenue of Honour to the fallen diggers are you drive into it. As a small child my dad used to own 80 acers out the back of the Marsh but sold it in my teens (His kicking himself now due to the urban expansion out there now). I am so glad we went and took a look at the oyster on a large scale as well. Nothing against them i just don't think it would have suited our home all that well. WOW Kiwi, you did move around alot! We have been here for 6.5 years now as my Husband was posted here. But after 11 years in his had enough and is getting out (to my total delight!) So it's time to pack up the house, kid, cat and 4 chickens and head back to Melbourne. I'm born and raised in Melb my Hubby is born in NSW, grew up in SA. He dosen't want to go back to SA, so that made the choice alot easier Were abouts are you in NZ? My best friend is from Huntley (sp?) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Not too sure what my sister was taking a photo of here, but i guess she thought we might want to see some pretty blue sprayed timber stuck in the ground Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And lastly a view from the top back corner looking down over the block: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The empty block has just gone on the market, So once we are done and moved in it will be interesting to see if the block is not sold if the people who own it will put forward the monies for the fence. Oh well worry about that bridge when we come to it. Hubby emailed the builders to see if they can out in a condjoint (sp?) (extra power) for hubbies future 'man cave' and a 'T' junction on the back taps plumbing so he can also have running water to his 'cave' as well. So guess we will hear back from them this week, if its too much we will just wait and have it done at a later date just thought it might be easier to do it now then later? Has anyone else asked for another circuit for a shed or spa? If so roughly what was your additional costing? House is coming along quickly! Love the plan too! Hi Deemaree, Thanks for the lovely comment. We looked at Melton to start with (i think it was more brookfield) but the land was a little too small for the house we had dreamt of. Do you use the new freeway when you go see your FIL? Have you been to BM in the past month? They have now bypassed anthony's cut and its amazing coming down off the hill and Hopetoun and looking down and across the marsh. We will be planning a trip over in September, so will get to see the view then! FIL has lived over there ( I think they are classified as West Melton) for 25+ years, so he's on a reasonable sized block.. My sister is going to go back tomorrow again to get some better photos for us as she was on her way to work and running late, but so excited when she saw the slab she just wanted to send us a few images On a sad note, our build has been formally suspended. As you will see in the first post in our elevations our builder and the drafts company put bricks above the all the windows when it was only ment to be the front 3 windows and along with this mess, the windows in the living and rumpus rooms didn't comply with the glass safety spec's so we have to have different windows put in, hence they noticed the bricks above the windows and has stopped building. We are in the middle of trying to get this mess storted but waiting on them to come back with a costing for the bricks above the following windows: Living, rumpus, bed 2 & 3. The rest of the house is 'blind' so we are not going to worry about the bricks above the windows there but would like them in the main areas that will be seen. I am so stressed So once i get this brick issue sorted then we have to have new plans drawn up, signed by all parties and re-send them to Plan Scan to be re-signed and adjusted only then can we move on. SS can't order the frames due to the windows, can't order bricks till we get the issue sorted, and windows can be done either because 2 of them have to be changed and approved, no doubt this will put us at least a week behind Hope my sister can send through some more slab photos to make me smile tomorrow Living in Sydney - Building in Melbourne My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=50518 Re: Build in the 'Marsh' Liv in Syd - Build in Melb- SLABBED 20Sep 03, 2011 8:38 pm that is crazy talk. what a stuff up! hope it wont take long to sort out. 9 26029 Soak wells and electrical run in happening this week!
