Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 14241Feb 22, 2017 12:54 pm Really what is wrong with people!! It's never good for this to happen to anyone, you have had enough hassle and delays already. Worse is the **** who did it will get away with it. Re: Porter Davis homes 14242Feb 22, 2017 12:58 pm lizbf85 just when we thought it couldn't get any worse. last night we went for a walk past our house, anxiously awaiting our PCI tomorrow. staring at us in the face when we went around the back was vandalism..... The back of our house bricks in every part of our alfresco, windows and both corners of the house trashed. someone has taken to the bricks with some form of hammer and gone to town. absolutely gutted. Oh no! my God, how can people be so miserable? what the hell is wrong with them? What happened to you in your life that you see someones dream and you take pleasure out of destroying it? I am so angry and sad for you Liz. Since the house is still under PD then surely they must fix everything. But still it's another setback.. I am deeply sorry to hear about everything you're experiencing. Re: Porter Davis homes 14243Feb 22, 2017 1:07 pm Thanks ladies its just so deflating, and i understand we arent the only people who have experienced this, its just on top of everythinggggg else we feel like this whole venture isn't meant to be anymore.. We just hope after tomorrows visit we feel like there is a finish line in sight... Yes they will be covering the damage and advised it should be a 2 day job. On top of the rest of the odd fixes we really just have no idea what more delays we will incur. Will keep you posted tomorrow after our PCI.. i actually feel sick in even going Re: Porter Davis homes 14244Feb 22, 2017 1:52 pm lizbf85 nikil lizbf85 just when we thought it couldn't get any worse. last night we went for a walk past our house, anxiously awaiting our PCI tomorrow. staring at us in the face when we went around the back was vandalism..... It would be nice to think that whoever did this will a) be caught and b) be forced to pay for the damages and c) locked up for a while but I wouldn't bet on any of those things happening. I really hope things get better for you soon! Building a Kew 28 with Porter Davis Re: Porter Davis homes 14246Feb 22, 2017 2:44 pm So sorry to hear that news. I hope they catch those bast**** and make them pay for it. Re: Porter Davis homes 14247Feb 22, 2017 3:24 pm Thanks all, unfortunately its unlikely they will be caught, for all we know due to the way its been done it could almost be a disgruntled tradie. We will never know, we just want them to fix it and fast! Good luck for us tomorrow i feel we are going to need it! How disappointing. You must feel devastated. Re: Porter Davis homes 14250Feb 22, 2017 10:38 pm lizbf85 Will keep you posted tomorrow after our PCI.. i actually feel sick in even going Hi Liz, I have been following your progress but not posted yet. I'm sorry the build process has been tough for you and that there has been more hurdles than there should have been. In my opinion you should embrace the experience, control the controllable's and know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and once you are in it will all be worth it. Someone vandalized the bricks, that's not controllable and there is no point getting emotional about it, PD will fix it and it won't cost you a thing. Just a shift in thinking can have a positive effect. There have been a lot of negatives and negative venting from and this breeds and welcomes more negatives. The law of positive fruition, think positive and positive things just seem to happen. I don't mean any of this to be rude, it is supposed to be a pick me up to say at the end of the day it will be a positive outcome so ride the ups and downs and stay excited, you're almost there!! Think of getting the keys and moving your stuff in, decorating the house etc. and how good that is going to be. Re: Porter Davis homes 14253Feb 23, 2017 11:38 am sencillez Hi, to those who did their flooring (carpets/tiles/timber) post handover, would you have any rough estimate on the costs? Thanks in advance. It depends on the quality and style of your choice. We choice large solid Herringbone for our 45 sq home for $28K Carpet - after looking around we decided to go back to our builder as they didn't have the color we wanted. We upgraded to the top u u underlay and got 80/20 Cat 5 carpet for $28K Hope that helps. Thanks in advance. were doing our own carpet and floor boards post hand over. carpet approx 7k engineered oak floors approx $120 - $130 per sqm incl installation Re: Porter Davis homes 14255Feb 23, 2017 2:43 pm Does anyone roughly know the credit PD give you for removing the flooring? We will be building the Marriott Grange in QLD which is equivalent to the Waldorf Grange in Vic. We will consider getting the flooring done post handover if there's decent savings to be had, however if the difference in price is only a couple of thousand, then we will just get it done through PD. If it's a couple of thousand different I would go with your builder for sure. It more work to do it after handover and it doesn't look as good because of the skirting board or the beading around the cabinets. We had to do it post handover because our builder won't do solid hardwood anymore. Re: Porter Davis homes 14257Feb 23, 2017 3:25 pm Yes PD will give you a credit for the flooring, However it is a cost price credit so not a huge amount. Re: Porter Davis homes 14258Feb 23, 2017 3:45 pm Oh Liz what a joke, so sorry! So we thought about engaging Porter Davis stylist company PD studios... for the living room, alfresco and hallway...gave her a 20K budget (1 sofa, 2 armchairs, 2 pendants, a coffee table, side table, outdoor setting & a few pieces of inexpensive art work, some cushions-that's it!) She came back to us saying it would be 30-38K to source that, and take her 30 hours so 5K. I almost fell over. She had said she could work to any budget. Uh double is not any budget. And 30 hours? Shouldn't she know all the places anyway? So obviously NOT going with her as lovely as she is. But in the same position as before. So madly looking at Hampton style on Pinterest, found a few things within 30 minutes while watching paw patrol with my toddler so I think she's taking the mickey saying 30 hours ;( In good news framing has started! So excited! Father in law sent some photos, aren't great quality but I thought I'd share. In the meantime anyone who can recommend a great furniture company to us would be MUCH appreciated. I was quoted a credit of -8500 for carpet and bolero laminate of a 46sqm home I really want to do it with the builder but the SC wouldnt even give me a bamboo/timber flooring quote as he reckons it will be too expensive. Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12345 Ask for references and speak to them.
