Banksy, that sounds pretty good, who is the fencer.. I would like to get them out to quote...
Carpentry is supposed to start this week. Also brick cleaning and the final bits of scaffolding to come down.. Once the scaffolding comes down we will really see our house for what it is...
Next week is the stairs and who knows from there maybe paint then tiles.... and a kitchen!!!

Is anyone using Plantation Shutters, I know they are expensive but I want them.
We are going to use plantation shutters. Most probably on the front 2 windows and the lounge/dining areas. The other rooms will probably have roller blinds???
Our painters started Monday. Organised a walk through on Friday morning. Hopefully the painters have finished by then and we get a rough date for when it will be finished.
In regards to fencing how do they work out the boundary lines etc? Do they go off the plan or get information from council? Looks like Ron might be getting some work at those prices.

Katie, I am not sure how they do the fences. For us, Masterton and Tribecca just put up the fences. We then measured from the house based on our site plans and the fences were exact so I am not really sure how they worked it out but we were happy that they were right.
I got a quote from Dunn and Farruguia Fencing.... our gates were the most costly part....
Fencing was working out at 75 per m supplied and installed.. not sure how that compares to other companies.. need to get more quotes.. anyone else have a per m price to compare....
So for us our back fence for our half would be $397 for 10.5m of fencing... only a little one.
We had our bricks cleaned yesterday, we still have a lot of salt coming through the bricks from all the rain as the bricks are still considered "wet" so there will be repeat cleans.. very annoying considering how much extra we paid. So they will need to come back again and do another clean and maybe a 4th time... We need some dry weather to fully dry them out...
Other than that all else is on track... scaffolding should come down this week fingers crossed but again depends on the rain.. I am sure I am cursed when it comes to outdoor items for the house... it rains when they need to do things...
I have started buying bits and pieces for the house now its getting closer. All our main furniture is ordered so that is good, we have finally nutted out a landscape plan for the back and front, just need to decide on plants.
We need to buy all our light fittings as we are getting W to supply battons.. anyone know a good sparky....
Blinds and screens and security doors are sorted....
Need to put together a PCI checklist ready for our inspection when it finally comes around, so far its just our bricks that are our main concern all the rest of the build seems to be coming along well. So far the gyprock looks fine as does the cornice.
We will have some drainage issues on one side of the house as we are at the bottom of the slope for the street so we will need to spend a few $$$ on drainage grates for the full lenght of that side of the yard and plumb them into the stormwater.
Where we are living atm, everytime it rains the whole backyard floods and its a nightmare for the dog and takes days to dry up so we want to avoid that one...
Looks like Ess and Tim might be next to move in, as their site fences are down and porta loo gone... their house looks fantastic!!

In george's fair moorebank estate I have read that some of the forum members were actually told they could get their DA approval prior to their land being registered but I haven't found any post to confirm they were successful in doing this.

Banksy, it depends on your 149 Certificate in your contract, ours stipulated we must use the DA process, even though most of the houses adjoining us did not they used the CDC process.... for us it stank but we had no choice...
We have some heritage listing on our block about some tree, but there is no tree on the block...????

Im optimistic it may be ok! The parent 149 states da approval but I won't really know until I am settles I guess, but it is good to know that somewhere in the ridge it's being done.... Going to he crushed if I have to deal with council!!! Might have to throw some money at them lol

Banksy, I think that you can go CDC if you keep a 1.2 of the boundary fences and keep well within the council building envelopes.
We are 0.9 off one side, bushfire, heritage tree, double storey and triple garage but with only 2 doors at the front not 3, so it was council all the way for us. Its not that bad as long as all your docs are correct when submitting its not too bad, but expect 6 weeks.

1.2 could be the issue, it's at 1m now and I wouldn't shave another 400mm off the design anywhere so if your on the money it may be slow going for us... All good though it is what it is!
How's your place coming along?

Banksy, We are moving along, there was a delay with some of the internal doors etc so carpenters start on Tuesday and the stairs go in Tuesday as well. Hoping to get waterproofing done and the end of next week as well.
We had our bricks cleaned again this week, we still have calcification issues due to the excessive rain during bricklaying.
They will need to do further work on the bricks over time.
It is happening at an ok rate and before we know it, we will be hiring a truck to move on it. We have been out of our home now for 12 months so we are really starting to miss our "stuff" as its all in storage. We are living between both parents houses so its been a long 12 months. But its been worth it.

Yeah I have a handshake agreement with a builder friend of mine... I have contacts in lots of random places and I always wanted to use my friends and contacts to build my place, I just knew owner builder was out of the question, so my friend is charging us a set fee and we have the option to use our own contractors meaning if my contacts save me money I save money and he makes the same amount regardless, so the emphasis is on me working on extra quotes and pulling favours!!! The site survey was completed last week and we have the contours completed, so the plans began today
It's the reason I was keen to find out if CDC was happening or not, it as you know would change a few things in the work they are doing now!!! We're taking a few risks getting into the drawings now but I doubt the plan will change too much from where it is. We have trolled through display homes for years now so colours doors kitchens etc is an easy choice for us, and I have done a few commercial renovations before as well as our first home so visualizing a finished product is also easy enough... Just gotta build it now haha
12 months of in between must be so painful, but it will be worth it very soon I am sure!!! I did a little drive by of your house on good Friday it looks like its coming along

Hi everyone,
Our house is finished!!!!!!!!!!!
PCI is booked for Monday morning. I'm on leave now and have almost completed packing ready for the big move!!! As soon as we have keys we'll get the driveway & inside flooring installed. We're so excited to move and can't wait to spend the 1st night in our new home. We are so happy with the quality of our McDonald Jones Home. Our house looks amazing…we love it We haven't had any troubles throughout the whole build process. Our house looks naked now that the temporary security fencing & portaloo have been removed. The site is all cleaned up too plus inside is nice and shiny!!
Eagerly waiting for the day we celebrate with family and friends @ our housewarming party
I wonder when Stockland are going to schedule another community event?!?!?! It would be great to see everyone.

We were told today that carpenters will finish early next week, waterproofing and kitchen are also booked in for next week... I am excited to finally be able to see our kitchen.... I just hope our design works!
