Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 5562Mar 29, 2015 8:36 pm justwondering1 firsttimer05 Do you know what the actual stain color was Dave? They don't tell you. They just said that it's a Clarendon medium stain. Thanks Dave. Have you got a pic of your door hung Dave? Nevermind found some:) Cat83 Its called classic cedar, the only other option in the standard range. I wish we could get the paperbark colour but unfortunately cant stretch the budget. Thinking we will stick with the Caoba Dawn but just change the stain of our front door to the medium clarendon stain. I'll email through our changes now I'm worried about our choice now as well Cat... Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 5563Mar 29, 2015 8:41 pm rmjose18 so i've had a nagging feeling that the fireplace is not dead centre... i am OCD that way and things have to be symmetrical .. so i sent hubby and i am right! one side is 1.25 n other is 1.4!!! WTF i plan on have 2 tables and it will look weird... well in my head it will!!! i wish it was 1.30 on both sides! and funny how our plans said it will be 1.06 argh! I'm hearing you. This would drive me mad as well. I can see a lot of stress during our build. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 5564Mar 29, 2015 8:45 pm I know in the grand scheme of things it's only a colour but I think now looking at it it's probably better to go with a colour stain that I have seen and can visualise rather than something I've picked from the sample brochure. I just worry that if it doesn't match it will look awkward (like I've tried to match it and failed) rather than just go for the contrasting door. I've googled the dark oak stain and the colour looks like nothing like what we were shown. So sorry to worry others or to go on about something so small. It's amazing how many things start playing on my mind, never did I think I would be so interested in stain colours! And could someone please tell me what they paid for timber windows Lizzy, I've posted pics on earlier pages of the Caoba garage door and our front door. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for Clarendon to stain our door and windows. Firsttimer05, Like I said to Lizzy, the door and windows are not stained as yet but they did oil it a while ago. Why? Not sure but maybe for it not to dry out from the harsh sun and start cracking. Here are some pics to give you an idea.... We paid $1080 for the two but these are June 2014 prices, therefore expect a little more now. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 5568Mar 29, 2015 10:36 pm Hi we are thinking of building the Sheridan 34 with amendments. We have heard really negative views on Clarendon so far and just wondering how everyone's build is going and if there is anything to be wary of? Also, has anyone built the Sheridan with the Arlington or Chisholm facade and made changes to that too? Not entirely excited about the facade options! TIA Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 5569Mar 30, 2015 12:17 am So far Clarendon have been wonderful.. the build team are a little unresponsive, which I can only assume is a matter of them having a lot of builds on the go, but when you do get on to them they are quick to get things sorted out. I read the bad reviews on ProductReviews website and similar as well but have to remember that the majority of people that review house builds are those people trying to vent their frustration.. the vast majority of people won't post there. Whenever I've had a problem or question, Clarendon have been there with a solution. And could someone please tell me what they paid for timber windows We paid 3500 for the timber windows which are only on the front facade as on display on the fairmont 38 gallery facade. We got 5 awning windows, 2 clear framed doors and highlights on both sides of both doors as well. Thanks for the pic Penno on the door as we got the same and nice to see a real life pic of it =) Hoping that the medium stain is not too red with it, so we shall see in time. Seems like everyone has had hit and miss with trades on site lately. Last week we had work done, electrics in,data in and air con ducting. Had some issues, but these are being sorted. However the main issue is admin not listening too us at the colour appointment. We told them so many times we are doing tiles after handover, but they still didnt allow for higher benches to allow our dishwasher to fit in or higher stairs so theyre all even..the benches havent gone in yet, but have another problem as have a window splashback that sits on top of the stone and by raising them it will now throw the brick course out... not happy. The stairs should be able to be fixed up as they havent gone in yet. Colourbond arrived for parpet roof wed and still not installed, now have rain starting today so electric and data cables will be getting wet! grrrrr Roof tiles there werent enough (somemay have been cracked etc) so hopefully they finish the rest of the roof soon as I dont want my electrics stuffed. Some progress, some niggly things to fix up and some more major ones... always something it seems. Landscaping still doing my head in as CDC can approve cut but not fill and DA can approve fill, but will not approve the cut.. Too many rules and regulations that contradict each other it's ridiculous. Will need a holiday after this build to de-stress lol Building the Waterside34 (39 after upgrades) Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 5572Mar 30, 2015 9:12 am Makes me glad we're doing everything during the build and not after handover.. it might cost a little more but at least this way, we don't have to deal with admin stuff ups! Our next stage will be frames.. can't wait to see the frames up, and perhaps a few windows as is the norm, so we can get a sense of scale and position in regards to what our view from back and front will be like.. the sides of course will just but brick walls of other houses but it's so hard to tell what the back view is going to be like. I've not noticed the height before, I guess it depends on the flooring you pick, we've always had timber. The difference with Clarendon to post handover was over $5000, well worth the trouble in my opinion! Building modified Wentworth 35 Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 5574Mar 30, 2015 12:13 pm Got slab invoice today with 7 days to pay.. Have transferred our remaining 20% of the amount across and have to get a receipt of payment from Clarendon Homes for that contribution then give to bank and have them pay the difference before the 7 days are up.. *sigh* Well.. that's it.. we're now in this for the long haul, completely and utterly.. not that we could really have pulled out before now.. not really.. but it's got a kind of finality to it when you transfer that kind of money over to Clarendon.. If only this meant I could sit back and relax to let Clarendon take over and for us to stop having to worry about the build.. from what I have read over the last year, it's far from that point! But trust me, that doesn't last long. Won't be long before they stuff something up and you will be waiting to rip into your site manager. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 5576Mar 30, 2015 12:58 pm Yeah, I would love to rip into mine but he won't answer his phone. This is when they "were busy" and didn't get a chance to talk to you..... Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 5577Mar 30, 2015 2:52 pm Yeah.. they are already like that.. When you get them on the phone, they are nice and all but getting them on the phone is like pulling teeth.. and this is before all the projects have really gotten anywhere.. the excuse I was given is that the person who normally does slab pours is on holiday.. and that is true.. but I really, really hope that this is a one off.. We had a few drafting problems but the build and communication has been outstanding. Not even any brick delays. I think it comes down to who you're assigned too. Couldn't help myself and did a quick stop and the kitchen is in and tiles have been delivered. Just as I was leaving got a call from the tiler to meet in the morning on site to go over all tiles and plans. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 5580Mar 30, 2015 4:35 pm Our land FINALLY settled today... almost a year to the day we paid our deposit... Will put all the land delays behind us now and get on with this build the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 6746 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant.
