Finally I think its safe to start my own building thread :) We have had this land for very nearly a year and after 7 months in council and then tree issues we have started to see some action !!!
Its a pretty ordinary family home especially after some of the amazing plans I have seen on here but our 4 little girls ( 11yrs , 10yrs , 6yrs and 2yrs ) can't wait to have their own bedrooms :z: and I am excited to have BIR's

Its a custom build with Format Homes in Adelaide.

Here is our plan : [ img ]

Here is how it will sit on our corner block : [ img ]

Bricks and roof colour [ img ]

The big Jacaranda tree coming out last week . We were very sad to lose it :(
[ img ]
[ img ]

The land after the trees had been removed , looking up from where the garage will be (fingers crossed)
[ img ]

My husband was shocked when he drove past the land and saw this 2 days after we signed off on final selections !!
[ img ]
[ img ] same view from the future garage .

Then today we went for a closer look :D [ img ] We have a sign LOL
[ img ] DH in his study .

Sorry about all the photos , thank you for looking :)

Congrats on your upcoming build, your plans look good & your bathroom layout is perfect for 4 girls!

It looks like your land had a house on it before? did you knock one down or was it done prior to purchase?

Looking forward to watching your new home go up :)

Yay! Another SA build thread to follow!! Your plan looks great. Lots of room for 4 kids.

Looks like your builder is on the ball and keen to start. I hope your build goes smoothly for you.

Thank you Broom and Theresa :)

Yes there was a house on the land before . The previous owners had a bad fire and decided to demolish and sell the land .

Apparently the builder is really quiet at the moment so they were desperate to get going :D

Hi BuilldingSA, your plan looks great, plenty of rooms and space for everyone. Your land must have a fairly wide frontage as it looks almost ranch-like. We are doing a custom build too but long and narrow to fit our block.

Absolutely love your design. The walk through bathroom is fantastic. Have never seen one before. I love your little hallway to your main bedroom.

I'm looking forward to watching your build.

I can't believe they are allowed to start that early ??? I feel bad for our neighbours  :?

What happens when all the girls grow up and each wants their own room? Will hubby give up the study? Also no activity/play room for the kids?

funny how times and expectations have changed - when I was growing up there was no such thing as an activity room or family room for that matter, just a lounge with a separate dine/kitchen. A friend of mine brought up 5 kids (eldest male then four girls) on her own in a three bedroom house. She took the smaller bedroom, her son had one of the other bedrooms and the four girls made do in the largest bedroom. She recently built a small extension (dine/family/study) and the remaining two girls finally have a room each.

They do each have their own room :) It says ''study '' because apparently council wouldn't have accepted a plan with 5 bedrooms ??? :? Hubbies study is the Computer nook .
I plan to do family daycare so the room off the kitchen will be a toy/activity/ kids tv room :D This house is huge compared to our old house and they have never had their own bedrooms before so hopefully they will think its luxury for a little while

We have a SLAB :z: :z: :z:
