Hi

Finally a break in the rain, after 56 days of rain on site, we are really feeling it time wise.

Today they pulled down 98% of the scaffolding ready to complete the lower part of the house and finally make it rain proof!

They left a little bit of the scaffolding for the portico.

SS said that if the scaffolding comes down early this week, we may see gutter and fascia towards the end of the week. It would be great to be able to see a roof on by the end of next week..

They also can now get in and do a site scrape which is good because the place is a mess.

See my blog for pics, because I have no idea how to post pics from my blog, things have changed.

That's great news!! Wow, 56 days of rain, that is a lot. You must be really pleased to have your externals nearly done. Hopefully you don't have too many delays with internals. The bricks look great.

It is getting frustrating, its been 3 months since the frame went up... so the rain really has paid a price for time. The tradesmen only shut down for 2 weeks over xmas, so that was not a major impact. Its been the rain..... and its still raining.

Well we have some progress. Bottom roof has almost been completed. They have run out of tiles for the porch which is the ss's fault as he has known for weeks there was a full pallet damaged. But thankfully the garage and lower rear of the house has been done. They just need to do the ridge capping. BUT WAIT. There is more. They did the electrical rough in and air con rough in.

Great news Cass!!!!! :: Poor organisation of the SS though. Hope the build continues on track now and the rain holds off.

What a week, except for the electrical problems... we have had more than one trade in the house this week... today they have completed the front cladding and have sealed up the back of the house for the rear cladding... we are almost water tight.

I have been working this week so by the time I drive by I cannot get any decent pics... will get some over the weekend.

We have had a very productive week this week.. They have insulated the house and installed the flu and internal parts of the fire. I was worried about this but I was told that it is useless to anyone if they tried to steal it because you cannot buy certain parts to complete the fire, so that is good, plus it needs to go in before the gyprock.

But to top it all off, we drove by today to find a group of workers that had commenced the Gyprock of the house and at 5pm this afternoon we see them packing up, when finished we decided to go in and see what they had done in a day... and they have put up ALL of the gyprock in the house and have started to seal the joints. I cannot believe how much they did in one day.

It was amazing to see the house now like this. It feels so different but we are very very happy with the rooms.

My 4 year old was a classic. He was excited to see his room and then told me that it was his bedroom and that this was his toy room, he indicated that the little WIR was his toy room. I thought that was very sweet.

I tried to take some pics but it was quite dark by the time we got inside...

The dining room and the feature wall we added to break up the two rooms

This is week 23 from site scrape... I don't think the house will be ready for at least another 10 weeks... that is my prediction.

I was amazed at how our house went from no gyprock this morning to fully sheeted top and bottom. It is not set yet, some bits are but still they worked really hard today. I suppose now that this has happened at least once it is set and cornice then the likes of stairs, tiling, carpentry and kitchen can start moving forward.

Its starting to feel like a home!!!!!

We also have the plans for our pool now... so that is good as well... just waiting for them to dig the hole....

[ img ]

Our SS has been good so far about this and working out what we will do with the site so they can dig the hole.

We still have issues with our brickwork that needs rectification which we are working on now with the SS.

That's great things are moving ahead now. Love your fireplace, it will look amazing once the house is completed.

Can you say what problems you have been having with the brickwork? We have chosen Austral Symmetry bricks also.

We are a BAL 12.5. We also have brushes on the panel doors and a few other things.

As for my blog, unfortunately there are some nasty people in this world and one that was very close to me through this initial build process, I have removed it for several reasons.

I really enjoyed the blogging and I also enjoyed meeting new people and sharing the building experience along the way. I will probably set up a new blog, but it will be locked so users need to apply to view. I just have not had time due to too many uni assignments all due at once LOL.

But on a good note, our cornice was completed today as was our roof tiles on our porch.. so great to see work every day this week on the house. What I was surprised about was the amount of decorative cornice used. Its great, I quite like it. I also like the fact that they will be square setting all of the media room which will look great and the main hall way, some nice surprises there!

I am assuming the next step will be stairs, then carpentry.

I will try and put some pics up of the cornice.
