Ouch, Jackula, just read your latest post. I sure hope they throw in a major sweetener for you to make up for their mistake. Can you get an outside opinion on the extension option? If PD won't fix it, then maybe they can make sure they leave you what you need (eg. area of uncovered floor) to ensure you can get someone else to fix it after hand-over? I know they aren't supposed to do that but surely they can meet you half-way on this, come up with a solution.
They called me yesterday and said they're not willing to fix the kitchen problem because it would impact on their timeframes, they said in order for volume builders to make a profit, they can't afford to fix problems that could delay the completion of the project.
What they have offered is a compromise. Porter Davis will organise for the repair of our kitchen to be completed after handover. They will bring in their suppliers to take measurements before PCI so that after handover they will come in immediately and do the job.
Yes we still have to pay for it, but our SS said this will save us money because they usually put a 100% markup on upgrades, with this option our kitchen repair is pretty much half price.
