::surprise:: OMG nina!! I almost fell off my chair when I saw that photo.... It looks fantastic!! (It is normal to get excited about a driveway?! And someone else's at that?! The things that happen to us on H1... ). But seriously, you have to be happy with that. I can't believe the transformation. No more walking down muddy driveways. Almost there now girl...
Ha ha, you sound like me T getting excited over er people's things!
Yes, happy with it - looks good. A few questions still though, so not perfect. And 3 dates from the scheduled have already been pushed out so not feeling much excitement. Splashbacks and mirrors did finally go in yesterday, but I haven't seen them yet. DH said they look good. He also confirmed that it looks as though nothing else has been done inside. So ot really almost there unfortunately.

ps: was I imagining things, but wasn't there a falling down fence there before too? Looks so clean and neat now with the driveway and the fence gone (unless I was imagining that?).
No don't think so, but imagine it with another fence on the right hand side and it will look a whole lot better. Getting quotes at the mo.

Nina, your driveway looks so nice and long and neat!!!!
C'mon gas companies for you and me!!!
Praying every day RS! Any news on when yours might be done? Hoping beyond all hope that ours will be done tomorow so they can continue with the concrete next week
One step forward, 2 steps back as usual. Spoke to our certifier today (who BTW is just about the best guy you could hope for as a certifier. Completely and utterly practical yet concerned with the right amount of detail. Not an ounce of jobsworth in sight - love him.) Anyway, just wanted to find out if we could move in without having the OSD tank handrail and retaining wall fence done and he said not a problem, we can fix the paperwork up afterwards. So that's a relief as I am trying to source fencing quotes at the mo, but it takes the pressure off a little if we dont get them sorted in the coming weeks.
But, I have since thought of a question, what does the bank need to see in order to release the last payments (forgetting about the final amount we will hold back until all defects have been rectified) - they dont need to see IOC or OC do they? Will it be just another progress claim as per the previous claims?
In steps back, literally - foot prints all the way down our new drive and outside the front door. From who I wonder? Our nosey bloody neighbour of course. I felt sick all afternoon when they told me this, but DH went to site to check and said they are barely noticeable and that the concrete guys said they would disappear in a few weeks.
And we have had to postpone the flooring install yet again due to driveway pour not progressing this week and therefore not having enough time to cure before iot can be driven on. Flooring company wont ask tradies to carry their materials down the driveway as the builder had suggested and this is completely fair enough to me considering it is 60 metres long. But I got a shirty email back from the flooring company that has left a really bad taste in our mouths. Its not the usual lady we deal with and this woman wrote as though we enjoy messing them about with install dates. If only they knew just how upset we are about these delays (and does she even realise we have been dealing with them for 2.5 years now?). So the floor install can't happen before 3rd Septmeber now, but the flooring company can't even confirm they will be able to do anything then as they are VERY BUSY apparently and their systems had crashed. Oh great. Why does everything seem to work against us every step of the way?
Sorry not to have been around much on everyone else's threads - crazy time at home with the kiddies and I have had the lurgy this week.

Thanks Lesley - I'll leave the words to DH to have!! I saw it today and its not bad and will definitley wash out in a few weeks with a bit of traffic over it.
So, the gas connection won't happen until next week despite some amazing efforts from some very kind people to get it brought forward ....the connection company got out there to find there was no compliance certificate and the pipework was too shallow. Thankfully, the builders have turned it around quickly and will have the plumber back on site on Monday to rectify and the compliance certificate has now been forwarded. Hoping this means the connection company can get out there early next week to do their stuff so the rest of the driveway can proceed.
Some pics in the meantime - nice to see it looking like a house. Cant wait to get rid of the toilet and see the windows without their stickers and tape (and those downpipes painted):
And this is the best pic I can get of the splashback for now - have only seen it through the windows but very pleased with how it looks and particularly pleased we chose to pay extra to not have the join in the main piece behind the hob
And here's one of the laundry door because I don't think I've posted one yet. I thought the pattern would be on both sides so it would tie in with our internal doors and the front door, but unfortunately it isn't on the inside.

Its all looking fantastic Nina! Your facade and exterior colour choices just work soooo well, it's all coming together perfectly Fingers crossed everything runs smoothly from here on and you're in very soon!

looks fantastic my friend. well done. That driveway has just transformed the exterior so much. I like the way it extends up to the front door (has given me some ideas about ours) and that you have that extra nook for a car space outside the front door. You might want to put a mirror or something up on the opposite fence, so that if you reverse from the car space and someone is coming down the drive you have visibility. Tiny thing for down the track once you are in. Love how it is all coming together!

Thanks Kayla, T, GoGo and Jodge! I do love our colours, but I'm not sure the concrete will compliment it much i'm afraid. But it looks better than a load of dirt, that's for sure! Good idea about a mirror T, although I already have a huge fear of having to reverse up that driveway, so I'm hoping I'll always be able to turn using the bay and the garage.
Need to ask some pre-completion questions for anybody in the know:
Do you know what the bank will need to see from us when we do handover/move in? Do you know whether I can apply to telstra for a connection now? Given so many others have experienced problems with them, it would be great to try and get this ball rolling. Ditto for foxtel? Is there anything else I could be doing now in prep for our eventual move in? (need to sort building and contents insurance, anything else?)
I'm probably getting ahead of myself but need to keep myself busy whilst we wait patiently for the final things to be completed and try and get as much done as possible

The idea of the mirror is whether you are reversing or driving straight - coz if you come around the corner from the parking bay and someone is coming down the drive you won't see them. I am probably overly paranoid about it because my mum had a car accident in a similar situation (which didn't have a mirror, but the spot now does).
Sorry can't help you on the other questions, but as for Telstra yes! You should call them now. DH started to organise ours 12 months ago - takes forever to book a time, for someone to come out and give a quote etc. For us we need to relocate the pit. We got a quote last year, then DH got the guy out again a few weeks ago to check that the line was still active (which it is thankfully). Do you have to connect the line as new? If so, you might need some lead time, so good thinking to get onto it ASAP.

No news on our gas!! Feeling okay about waiting at the moment because a bit to do this week but I know by this time next week I will be feeling very frustrating because we will otherwise be pretty much finished and just waiting on gas to move!!
I love your kitchen splashback and pendants. It is looking

Not sure what we did in our former lives but it must have been very very bad as we are certainly getting our comeuppance now. Plumber has fixed his stuff, however now Ausgrid or somebody is digging up the road so the concrete pour can't happen for a week at least. Why why why? If this were a game I would have surrendered a long time ago.
