As it was, there was nobody there when DH got there Anyway, so there was nothing to be seen except our garage door...

Very quick update as really must go to bed, deck stairs installed today and I got to see our bathroom taps etc. Very disappointed to see a nasty white plastic drain pipe for our basin in our powder room as I had thought it would be chrome (had specified chrome wastes throughout - however turns out that only means plug holes...) Will have to look at trying to change it - looks awful. Very pleased with deck stairs....

Love the photo looking from the back yard up to the house, makes the house look huge, but it just shows how everything is fitting together perfectly ::kissed::
The photo of the basin looks like it has a chrome waste :th: must just be the photo.
I remember McLaren (I think :th: ) was saying the same thing about one of her sink wastes, I'm sure she just had DH replace it this week, for less than $10. Will go and check out her thread.

Its the pipe beneath the sink that I meant, I thought that was a "waste" but sadly isn't - hence the nasty white plastic pipe

Nina - do you mean the sink with the white pipes to the floor and no vanity cupboard?

Oh ok, might not be so easy to replace, could you maybe build a little frame around it :th:

You could probably change it to a different vanity
My friend is replacing hers, which is similar to yours with this

nifty gogo with her photos! yeah, I would be inclined to box it in / build a cupboard around it. Bit of extra storage is always useful. But oh my, those deck stairs looks lovely! Matches the deck perfectly. What timber did you use?

I too am interested in what timber you have used?
We are currently building our deck. We have ordered the highest grade of Tallowood. Apparently it will outlast us so were quite happy with that but its costing a bit $$! lol

Hi ladies, T won't want to hear this but it is merbau. I looked in to alternatives but DH wasn't wiling to spend additional dollars and this is hotondo's standard wood.

As for the vanity, cupboard beneath the basin - I didn't want to go that route because it is such a small room. Will see how much it bothers us and think about getting it partially boxed in later if we can't live with it.

A late big congratulations Eliza ! Welcome to the World!!!!

Nina, she's gorgeous.
::smile::

Sorry for late congrats as I've been a bit absent from H1 lately.
Your house is looking fantastic...if ever you feel likes things are moving slowly for you - just check out my build and it'll make you feel better ::lol::

But you have to admit - a new bubs puts everything into perspective. (Maybe our houses are not as important as we think they are some times).

Oh wow, how good is everything looking! I see why you would be disappointed with the plastic pipework, you can buy chrome pipework, so that may be an option, otherwise you migh be able to get some sort of metal work surround made. Though to be honest gogo's suggestion is awesome. Best looking unit I have seen!

@gogo65: that mini vanity looks awesome. Who is the manufacturer? I spent ages looking for one, but never came across anything that looked that good!

Alt,
The basin is from cocomo living at Alexandria, we bought all our basins and bath from there, good prices, great quality!

Hey BNA so nice to hear from you and thank you - we are completely smitten as you can imagine!

But sad to hear that things havent been going so well on your build ::sad:: When will you approach the rental clause with the builder? Hopefully now the noisy customer is out of the way (isnt that always the way in life? Priority and special treatment to the ones who complain.) yours will start flying along again. I do hope so. Take comfort in the fact that we have now been in teeny tiny rentals since December '09 when we started the whole build process....so 13 months isnt so bad after all!! ::wink::

And thanks Alto....chrome was what we were expecting, but I got my terminology wrong! Reluctatnt to buy a whole new vanity considering I really like our sink and paid to upgrade it...so have asked the question about changing to a chrome pipe.

So, feeling really really ::angry:: ::angry:: ::angry:: about this whole build now. Week 3 of barely any work done and so much to do still. Why oh why are they not completing the internals? We just don't understand it. Can only think it is really poor project management. DH's mum is coming to visit from the uk at the end of September and it dawned us today that we might not even be in by then at this rate. So angry that I am scared to speak to them at the moment. Oh and no response to my email re the outstanding schedule. Not impressed. ::frown::
