Haven't been in ages since the land settled - I was satisfied at that point - met a neighbour, saw that a fence had been put up (without us paying a cent, woohoo! lol) and that the other neighbour had removed their rubbish from our block...

since then its been planning non stop to get the build started... however, i am sure once we have a site scrape - ill be there several times a week. Infact, I'll probably take the "long way home" from work more often than not just to "see if anything has changed" ;) haha

Before our land titled we went about once a week, but since our build started on 7th of December we go and have a look almost every night.

Luckily, since we moved into the rental it's now only about a 10 minute drive.

Just got back from a 5 week stint overseas and went out to mow block (a fair bit of rain in Brizvegas while we were away so it would have been pretty long).

To our surprise the block had already be mowed.... Not sure how it happened, maybe a next door neighbour got fed up, or as our land used to be owned by the QLD government perhaps the contract to mow it is still in place, or it may be the council.... Either way I was a very happy chappy - now I'm just hoping a don't get a bill in the mail.

Exciting news, we should be getting the quote back from our builder this afternoon, hope its not too scary!!

Our site scrape happened yesterday and seeing as the block is 2 streets away, and opposite our children's school, we see it every day. Our letter box is still there too (knock down rebuild).

Every other day we used to pack a basket with wine and cheese and just sit there watching the sun go down, eventually our new neighbours came out and introduced them selves and ended up joining us it was a ton of fun and we saw things that a quick look around wouldn't have picked up.

We had a site key, but where advised not to go during the day - work safety and all that ! Hubby and I visited atleast 3 times a week at first and then maybe once a week in the end, usually on weekends - we enjoyed seeing the different stages of development and planning where we would put all our furniture etc. !!

Its so exciting - I cant wait to build my next home !

I visit everyday, you see we are ex Westminster Homes customers. We went thru 9 months of no work done, so now that we got another builder, I visit everyday & get very excited when I see the smallest of progress...pathetic isn't? :)

I visit about 3 times a week and it is still just a block of land. I am in the process of getting plans ready. Hopefully, I will be ready to start in towards the end of March. I imagine I will be driving by after work each day as the block is only 5min from work.

We actually live on our block in a Granny flat/cabin/studio (stage 1) so when building starts for the main hose (stage 2), we will be able to see it progress every day.
I work from home and the noise will be tedious but its all worth it for the bigger picture.

I'll have to bring out sangas and cold drinks/cuppas for the tradies and maybe a cold ale at the end of the day.
Will be good to get on their good side. Might pay in the long run.

Almost every day. I only live a few minutes away which helps, but even before work had started or was expected to start I would still go out there regularly and just look at it a bit. Now I've started a blog I use that as my excuse for going to hubby LOL

Our builders are great, and are happy to have us there whenever although I try to keep my visits to after hours.

Couple of times a day (all of a 5 minute walk ! ), and all we have is a portaloo and a fence at present.

We are an everyday stalker too. We are renting 500m from our site with DS's school in between. We demolished before Christmas but due to a mini disaster only had site cut and piering last week. Since then I dream about the site and visit multiple times a day in disbelief that our dream home plans are coming to life. I think us home builders are an obsessed breed unto ourselves!

As an owner builder we visit as needs. Sometimes 3 or 4 times a day or simply stay there for longs periods, or if we know nothing is happening and there is nothing at that point for us to do, we don't visit. You just have to be there a lot for anything a tradie needs. Coz if they stuff up, it's your fault!!

Before the actual construction started only once a week. Now that we have started construction however its everyday, sometimes twice. Unfortunately you need to with quality of work,, or lack of, that seems to be commonplace throughout the industry in general.

Interesting how often people are able to get out to their site throughout this thread. I don't have any major plans on visiting particularly regularly - I Might do so once a week and then on a weekend once build starts - maybe.
Biggest contributing factor is I work in the CBD, the site is 26km north of the CBD, and I live 34km East of the CBD. Takes about 1h10 to get from Craigieburn to Ferntree Gully, and that's in good traffic.
I'm paying someone to do a job, I expect it to be done well, and if it's not, I'll just pull them up on it come inspection(s).
