We rented the house next door, so we go every day and then when someone is on site I'm standing up on the kitchen next door with my phone out taping so I don't miss anything, I have 3 small children and a ladder p against the fence and 2 of them go up and down several times a day to check if anyone is there...
I love it it's great... Except when no one is on site, as then we appear crazy...

Before we built, I visited the block every day to figure out wind direction, sun movement and angle - all to make sure the house we built was cool during summer and had plenty of light for the winter. It paid off handsomely .
During the build, the same thing - hubby and I were doing the electrics, so we had every right to be there. Great way to see it change so much. This is how we made sure the **&^&^builder wasn't going to pull any more swiftys than what he tried to do . We were not happy campers, and certainly won't recommend him again ever.
The next build - I'll do the same thing again, it's worth it.

We only started building last week, but I was planning to go over about once a week. Having read everyone else's comments though, I'm now thinking maybe I should go over more frequently........just to check on progress (and be honest, I can't wait to start seeing the house come together.)

Our slab went down yesterday We usually do a drive past each day but that's only because there were houses going up on either side and the builders were forever dumping crap on our block, not happy!

I wish we could go everyday, but I think the kids would get fed up of all the driving very quickly. I know what you mean about neighboring builders dumping stuff on your site, we even had a big pile of cement there a few weeks ago. I was worried our builder might try and charge us extra to remove it, but they havnt mentioned anything.

Now that we're actually building, my non-hypothetical answer is weekly. Occasionally hubby will call past on his way home from work if there's a need, but given it means adding 20+ minutes to an 80 minute commute it's not a common occurance. I expect we will continue the weekly visits until the house is actually locked up (lock up stage was completed weeks ago but it's laughable how not locked it is) then we might drop back to fortnightly, as it's a 2.5 hour round trip.

We visit most days. Fortunately we owner-supplied the front door handle and lock and kept a set of keys for ourselves. Now we can let ourselves in whenever we want!

My site start keeps getting pushed back, so there's little to see going on other than the back neighbours house getting built. At the moment I'm dropping by about every fortnight, just enough to check that noone's dumping stuff on the lot, and to get the puppy used to long drives in the car and running around the general area
