As action is finally happening on our block I thought it was timely to start our own thread.

We are building a custom design with Pr0struct in Devonia Park Pakenham for our family of five adults.....DH & I, two young adult sons and one live in girlfriend.

We have been in our current house for 26+ years so this is a long overdue adventure.

House plans

Site cut with swimming pool where the garage is supposed to be (thanks to fragalot for the pic :D )

Hopefully we will have a slab some time this week.

Hi catjim,
Good to see you've started a thread. Love the way your kitchen looks out to the alfresco ::kiss::
Great pool
Hope you get your slab this week :D

Interesting plans. An entrance into your ensuite just after you enter the front door? Is the laundry part of the kitchen or is there a sliding door there?

I like your plans CatJim, quite practical. Looks like a fairly large house too - 28? 30+ sq?

There's an entrance to the separate toilet in the ensuite but it will look like a cupboard door from the hallway. We did that in case we have overnight visitors staying in the spare room / study but it won't be used at any other time.

There's a cavity sliding door between the kitchen and laundry. The laundry has the same benchtops / cupboards as the kitchen so it will look like it flows with the door open. One side of the laundry will have a bench with insert trough and front loading washer. The other side will be a broom cupboard and linen cupboard with space underneath for the dryer. There are two other linen cupboards in the house so there'll be plenty of storage.

Thanks Fraggy. It's around 29 squares all up with around 22 squares of living. Our current house is 14.6 squares of living so is a huge jump in room sizes with only one extra room.

Thanks Kiwi. Hopefully it looks like it does in our heads as no display home to look at.

Still can't believe it's actually happening yet.

Thanks Deemaree. I do have pantry envy for your pantry though. We just couldn't fit anything bigger in our plan without losing out elsewhere.

I've started my own thread in the link below. You can compare our water feature to yours :D

Eeey now i know where your block is! Nice pool Catjim :D Its great that the 1st part of your hall doesn't follow right through to the living area. Much better for privacy. I love the design! It's gonna be great to follow your thread ::

Haven't quite worked out where you are yet but will figure it out. We looked very seriously at a lot of Aaron J's houses and the Sahara was near the top of the list. All of them are different to the usual displays.

We did the kink in the hallway deliberately but I see other people's photos looking down the length of the house and how nice it looks. The privacy factor won over though.

This is the drawing the front of our house:

House front
[ img ]

Bricks: Austral Newport
Tiles: Bristile Traditional Magnum
Front door: Typical four glass door with two sidelights, stained in walnut
Portico pillars: Rendered in Paperbark
Gutters: Woodland Grey
Fascia: Paperbark
Windows: Paperbark (all double glazed awning)
Garage Door: Paperbark

Kitchen & laundry
There's a cavity sliding door between the kitchen & laundry. One side of the laundry has a bench with insert trough and front loading washer. The other side of laundry has a full height broom cupboard and a suspended linen cupboard with space for the dryer underneath. There are another two linen cupboards elsewhere in the house.
[ img ]

Benches (all wet areas): Caesarstone Cracked Pepper - 40mm kitchen (with waterfall end), 20mm everywhere else
Cupboards (all wet areas): White vinyl wrap
Paint: Walls - Wattyl Scallopini, Ceilings - White, Doors & trims - Wattyl Stalactite (very white)
Floor coverings: Carpet in bedrooms (category 2A with upgraded underlay), beige colour glazed porcelain tiles elsewhere
Wall tiles: Showers - white tiles with row of beige vertical border tiles, same white tiles under mirrors and above bath, floor tiles front and top of bath hob, beige colour tiles as kitchen splashback.

All colours are either beige or white so we hope it all comes together OK.

Well, two more steps forward. We now have a meter box and a bin. Two steps closer to our new house.

Still have a swimming pool in our garage and I think if they are waiting for that to disappear on its own they'll be waiting a while. They'll need to get proactive and pump the water out.

Chance of a slab by the end of the week? Very unlikely unless they get their acts into gear.

yeah, I've got a lake in the front of my house too. The water just isn't going anywhere. Clay, and it's been raining just so much.

It poured for a while this morning where we are now so I can only imagine that it was torrential in Pakenham.

Oh well, we won't be in for Xmas anyway so there's no rush now. Gives us more time to get our current house ready for sale.

*signed up for this thread too*

Last night me and rb went for a drive up to take a look around - it was absolutely pouring with rain.
We took a look at your pool and yep, it's still there, mighty.
Why dont they drain everyones pools and put it in that little lake thing down the road?? it'd fill in no time!

There's another block just up from us in charolais court that has water everywhere. You could actually see mini-ripple-waves with the wind and there were 2 ducks paddling along in it.. I wish I could've taken a photo, but it was pitch black (except for the cars headlights).

Melanie from Delfin told us that the lake isn't holding water yet. That's why the level keeps going up and down. Apparently it will take a while for the clay to stop absorbing the water.

They must be the ducks that moved on from our puddle before we upgraded to our swimming pool.
